Hotel De France

A solid hotel choice. The location is the major selling point of the property as it is directly at the main marketplace. The room is a nice size and the bathroom was clean. A very good value the money. Despite our deficiencies in French language skills, the staff remained courteous and friendly with us.

Nothing significant comes to mind.

The hotel is a bit dated, but our room was comfortable and well-equipped. It was also very quiet. The two young ladies on reception were both super friendly and helpful when we arrived and during our one night stay. We were able to park very cheaply right outside the hotel. Montargis is a very attractive little city/town (?) with plenty going on.

The interior seems quite old and the rooms were a bit smelly. There were also stains on the carpet. I think it could be freshened up a bit.

We stayed 2 nights in this hotel and had breakfast both days which were good. We went out for dinner to a recommended restaurant on the last evening. The hotel has an underground car park which is handy as parking can be busy although there is a large square outside the front of the hotel and a market square / street behind the hotel. Our room was nice and looked over the square at the front which seemed to be busy until quite late at night. There are various eateries and bars about Montargis which is a nice smallish French town with the canal running through it.On the Saturday morning there was a thriving market running behind the Hotel and an interesting walk was had.

Worn and stained carpeting. Mediocre selection at breakfast. Only rather old apples as fruit. No cereal. No eggs. No toast.

Staff very friendly.. central … easy parking right in front for cheap rate …

Room a bit old

Hotel in the very heart of Montargis, with many restaurants, cafés, etc. nearby. Spacious rooms with coffee / tea maker in the room. Large bed. Quiet at night. Convenient check-in and check-out times. Parking in the hotel garage is available at a reasonable price.

The interior, bathroom, toilet, etc. is a bit worn off and it seems that the hotel has seen better times.

Friendly reception staff, room OK for a one night stop. Close to city centre, but not noisy.

Advertised a bar on site - the receptionist told us they hadn't served alcohol since 2018!! Breakfast poor, someone reviewed that the bacon and scramble eggs were good - we didn't find any!!

The location would have been excellent were it not for car access being impossible at the back because of market (which we knew) and at front because of music festival (which we didn't).

The bar was closed and no drinks service available.

Well situated. Extremely nice room wonderful outlook onto a square. Secure parking. Excellent staff. Great breakfast.

Excellent location for this hotel, right in the centre of this pretty historic town. Private underground car park (extra cost). A charming traditional hotel with big rooms and very comfortable beds. Helpful staff. Very good buffet breakfast with particularly good croissants etc, and fresh fruit.

Ummm, not much really, secure parking, breakfast was good

Bit dark and dismal, room was large bathroom was ok but no hot water in the evening so no shower possible. Bed was uncomfortable, too soft, and some sort of plastic coated sheet! Very uncomfortable.

We are on cycle tour and this was our second stop out of Paris.The hotel is a little way out of the town centre but the staff were so helpful and lovely and the breakfast was brilliant with crispy bacon and scrambled eggs and the usual great French fare.The rooms are nice and definitely recommend for cycle tourists.

Very nice room in hotel in central square, so very convenient for shops etc (there's a supermarket next door). Clean, comfy, good wifi. Good insulation so little noise from square outside.

As others have noted, the decor is a bit dated in some respects, but this did not impact the overall quality. Hot water seemed to be a bit erratic, at least at the times I needed it. A curious system, where the aircon/heating is centrally controlled. I got them to switch off overnight. But no serious issues.

Very pleasant stay, the mattress was quite hard not to my taste, also in the bathroom there were hairs from someone who had certainly passed before me.

Handy hotel in the downtown of Montargis. Nice starting point for a bridge walk around the town. The city has interesting bridges and canals all around and good shopping options for the size of the town. Enough places for a good dinner of all levels of gourmande. A reservation might be smart in advance. Many restaurants seems to have it busy. Parking in front of the hotel or nearby. Breakfest is good and a bar on all days except Wednesday.

I miss the charm of an hotel de France. However well very handy in a charming town.

Nice location in cosy city center. Parking in front of the door. Good size bedroom with very good bed. Breakfast ok. Dogs allowed at a cost.

Small bathroom, sockets at wrong places (nothing in the bathroom, nothing next to your bed etc) and airco did not work properly and made funny noises. Toilet was wobbly / broken.

Great location in the heart of the city. Very friendly staff with in depth knowledge of the city and activities around. Always happy to help.

Comfortable and close to centre

No net curtains at bedroom windows so thick curtains had to be drawn as large square with people in next to it .

Thé staff were very pleasant and helpful. The location was good.They accommodated storage of our bikes and there was garaging for the car.
