Almost everything, fantastic breakfast, breath taking view, awesome staff.30 seconds from surf beach
Michelin star rated restaurant is a bit disappointing. It's great, but I missed the whaooo effect that I would expect in such a restaurant
The hotel is built around and ancient Portuguese fort overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The terrace room was perfect with a large terrace and great views of the Atlantic Ocean and the many surfers using every technique and equipment to ride the large waves constantly rolling in. Great large room, friendly and accommodating staff and lovely historic property. We also enjoyed beautiful food at breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Don’t stay here
We recently booked a two-night stay at this hotel, but unfortunately, our experience did not meet expectations. Upon arrival, we found that the area surrounding the hotel is extremely windy—so much so that it was difficult to enjoy being outside. This important detail was not disclosed during the booking process. While the landscape is scenic and looks great in photos, there is very little to do either at the hotel or in its immediate vicinity. In fact, you can appreciate the views by simply visiting the area during the day without needing to stay overnight. The hotel itself appears quite dated, especially when compared to other hotels in a similar price range. Regarding dining, there are two restaurants on-site. We tried The Spot restaurant, and the food quality was disappointing. There was a surprising repetition of ingredients, such as the same croutons appearing in both the seafood soup and the ceviche, and identical potato gratin served with different main dishes—even when it did not make sense with the meal. Some dishes appeared to be reheated rather than freshly prepared, which was unexpected at this price point. It smells food all over the hotel, if you open your room window the room fills with the smell coming from the kitchen ventilation. We raised our concerns with the front desk after the first night and requested to check out early with a refund for the second night. The response was unsympathetic; management refused our request without offering any flexibility. As a result, we spent the remainder of our stay outside the hotel, mainly in Sintra, and returned only to sleep. The strong winds persisted throughout our visit, which, according to locals, is common for most of the year—something the hotel does not mention beforehand. In summary, I would not recommend this hotel, especially for those looking for comfort, good food, or on-site activities.
You are treated like family. Professional, always available, knowledgeable, patient.
I wish I had stayed longer
Beautifully situated, facing the ocean. A boutique hotel atmosphere, very friendly and accommodating personnel. Rooms very comfortable, with ocean view. Food choices plentiful, very nice breakfasts. Walking distance to other restaurants for dinner.
8 kms from Cascais, requires a car, taxi or Uber.
Lovely hotel in a spectacular location. Lovely staff. Great food. Very peaceful and we enjoyed using the hotel's bikes to cycle to Cascais. Really enjoyable stay.
The whole experience: the location, the fortress (hotel and its views), chef’s table (the tasting experience), staff.
Loved the location with beaches a few steps from the hotel. The staff was wonderful especially Bruna and the breakfast waiters. Francisco makes a great mojito. My daughter and I had a wonderful stay.
Beautiful location So close to the ocean Excellent views and rooms
Exceptional location and views. A bit disappointed by the equipments for a 5* hotel: toilet not separated from bathroom, lighting design not making up for low natural light (because of the nature of the building)
The view is amazing! The room and especially the shower are really good.Attention to detail from the friendly staff was good.
The meal - steak and mash - were not great and not worth the price.
We were well attended to every part of our stay. All.staff was very helpful, friendly and attentive, it truly was a delightful stay. All the details and quality from the room to the amazing breakfast, the stunning views and of course our free upgrade to an ocean view room made this a stay to remember. Thank you!
