Painushima Resort

The room is super clean and quite large, exceeding my expectations for its price. There is even an outside balcony for a barbeque party. The bathtub is large, you can submerge your whole body in it. The towels have a fragrant smell, which I like very much. The staff are friendly.

The laundry is pretty expensive (¥400) and no dryer exists. There is no place for drying the towels around the bathroom as well.

It is very clean and spacious for 3 persons. Facilities like laundromat is excellent for travellers who need to do laundry

It is quite a distance from city centre but with a car it should be fine.

On site coin laundry machines & microwaves, a few minutes walk from a bus stop.Staff were nice and helpful albeit totally dependent on a translation device, they helped us book a day tour.Free parking if you have a hire car.

The on site / neighbouring restaurant was completely closed and with no other options around, it made it necessary to eat in the city.(There was a family mart in walking distance but the stock was always low)

I like the quietness and resort environment surrounded. Amenities are perfect for travellers!

The inconvenience of the location and reception service

Small individual houses which allows comfort and discretion. Bathroom was superb and bigger than expected with bath, shower and large sinks. The best is the outside bath which can be filled with hot and cold water as desired.

Location can be difficult to reach and narrow turn between two buildings of the complex is needed to enter the property. It is not really annoying however.

isolated from other rooms/guests, very nice terrace which has outdoor bathtub. BBQ stove can be borrowed which I enjoyed a lots. Clean.

Staff was incredible helpful and accommodating, despite the language barrier. They helped us call cabs to go downtown and let us store our bags in their office before check in and after check out.

The beds were very hard and the property was a little far from downtown…having a car or bikes is best if you stay here.

the whole resort concept is excellent at Painushima. loved the big tabs both indoor and outdoor, the bbq facilities made it feel like a glamorous trip. loved every bit of the stay. highly recommended.

There is a construction site outside and a bit far from everything, but we were traveling by car so it was not a problem

Very clean and spacious. The beds were super comfy. The outside area really nice and we particularly love the bathroom, bigger and newer compared with other places we have been in Japan.

You need a car since it is not close to any town or área with facilities! The cafeteria was closed, you need to have your own goodies for breakfast.

The room was specious and super clean with a nice outside terrace to chill after a long hot day. The bed was comfortable although could be a bit bigger for two people. There is a nearby beach just a walk away from the property where you can enjoy sunsets. We swam there only once since the water isn’t super clean. All in all it’s a great and affordable stay in Ishigaki. If you have a car, don’t think twice, you won’t find a better deal. But if you plan to travel by bus/bicycles then be prepared to spend some time getting around.

There where no dishes/cutlery at the property and no cooking equipment, the nearest store is Family Mart about 15-20 min walk away from the place. So if you are planning to stay at Painushima resort, make sure you have a car/scooter to be able to travel around easily. The place usually has a cafeteria but it was closed due to COVID-19. Which made our stay a bit more difficult food wise since it’s located a bit far from the city centre and all the main stores/restaurants.

This is a very functional facility, built in a series of 40' containers near to the airport and the road - a convenient location for transport. The common areas and parking were clean. Each 'container' has a deck with a small plunge tub sunk into the ground with a shower - which I guess is great in the warmer months.

As we were there in the winter, the 'room' itself was cold inside, although there were air conditioners to warm the place up. It is convenient for transport links, but it's not near any other facilities (shops, restaurants etc.).
