An Lam Retreats Ninh Van Bay

I did not want to leave and will definitely be returning in the near future. We stayed in one of the large beachfront pool villas using two bedrooms although there is also an upstairs bedroom available for a larger group. I was massive and one of the most beautiful places imaginable. The photos on the site are absolutely accurate. Next time we will bring more friend and use the entire villa. The staff are absolutely amazing, from the personal butler (Mr Hung and Ms Quyen were fabulous) to every member of the bar and restaurant staff and all the cleaning and ground staff, so friendly and cheerful at all times. The spa treatments are a must!

We had a fantastic stay. Huong was an amazing host and we had the most relaxing time which was exactly what we needed. The staff were fantastic and went out of their way to make our stay as memorable as possible. The food at the restaurant was delicious and we loved the view from our tree top villa.

The steps to our tree top villa got very slippery in the rain. It would also have been nice if the rubbish on the side of the road along the walk along the bay heading south east was cleaned up.

We spent 5 days in Beachfront Villa. The location, the house is amazing, direct link to the beach and nature. The hotel and our hosts are super kind, they did everithing for us to enjoy these wonderful days. Fantasctic resort!

Staff were incredible, made such a difference to the whole experience. Especially Pham Thuy who picked us up from the airport and also helped us check out the airport, she was so beautiful and helpful which made the experience 10x worth it and much better! Food, facilities, cleaning service, entertainment, room amazing!

Bao our butler was fabulous!

A lot! From the moment we got in the speedboatto the island, it didn’t look seaworthy and a good 30 minute journey. This is a very remote setting, so in bad weather there is nowhere to go. No British TV channels or Netflix. No pool bar and bar above restaurant closed throughout our stay. Nowhere to sit and enjoy a drink without eating. Food mediocre and wrongly labelled atbreakfast, so be aware if you have allergies. Worst of all was the glass wall in our room fell in on our first night. Luckily we were unharmed, but we could not get hold of anyone. Butler off duty, reception unmanned and ‘hotline’ went to voicemail. Had to wait until 9 amfor management staff to arrive at island. They spoke poor English and difficult to communicate our concerns. We were booked for four nights but left the island ASAP.

Problems with checking in another guest meant we were kept waiting at the transfer jetty where we were cold & the delay wasn’t explained. Problems with the other guests credit card could have been resolved once we arrived at the hotel saving them embarrassment & us all time

Absolutely wonderful.  Great spacious and airy rooms, a wonderful patio to observe the waves and the sea, and a nice pool to dip into. The team, restaurants, and walks near the beach, waterfalls, and forest were all lovely. A special shout out and thanks to the overall team, particularly Bao, Bao's brother, and Mrs Moon, who went above and beyond to accommodate us and provide us with great humble service and cultural insights. Professional, kind, and warm spirited. Thanks as well to the chef, muscians, and entire restaurant and management team who helped to prepare a special Christmas and birthday. A magical place that blends natural elements with luxury, local taste, and influence. Thanks so much for such a wonderful stay.

I really enjoyed the entire experience--the scenery, food, staff, everything about it. A particular highlight were the individual yoga lessons with Hue and the massage treatments, especially with Dung. Would highly recommend to wind down and relax.

We (2 people) booked an ocean view villa and stayed for 5 days in November 2024. Our stay was excellent although it was off season. The resort is located in a very picturesque, calm place among the jungles. It is the main feature of it to be far from the civilization, enjoy the nature and reconnect with the body and mind.ACCOMMODATIONThe villa was very spacious and clean. Twice a day our water bottles were refilled and the rooms were cleaned. At around 3-4pm our battler brought us some fruits and cakes (small detail but it was very pleasant). The swimming pool was also very well maintained. We didn’t have any mosquitoes.FOODFood was really great! As we stayed for 5 days we tried different dishes for the dinner. Yes, prices are higher than in Nha Trang, but not so expensive as I read in other reviews. All dishes we tried were delicious, portions were also big. On average for a dinner of two appetizers, two main dishes, 2 beers and 1 bottle of water, we paid around 50-60 Euros. Breakfast was also very good! Different options of Vietnamese food and western cuisine as well.RESORT STUFFAll people we met there were extremely polite, welcoming and respectful. We had a very warm greeting by a lady Thuy at the airport. The rest 5 days we were assisted by Thom and Huong - amazing ladies were always in touch with us!BEACHI love swimming and snorkeling. In some reviews people complained about the short and rocky beach line. Yes, there are some big stones in the sea which don’t bother at all and yes, the coast line is short. But it is more than enough to go for a swim and enjoy the sea. The water in November wasn’t clear because of the rains therefore I didn’t try snorkeling, can’t say anything about this activity there.YOGA AND MEDITATIONThe resort has a perfect Yoga Saal, under the roof with an amazing sea view. I did yoga there every day.

I would suggest only to renew or do a deep cleaning of the white mattresses on the Terrasse (white couch). We noticed a few brown sports there (probably from coffee or tea).

Everything was exceptional. The people so gentle and kind. The place is beautiful and super spacious, super comfortable. We were a bit unlucky with the weather as it rained the 2 days we spent there (they called it storm but it was just rain) but it was still amazing to be there in the jungle by the sea, with great warm temperature. Perfect place to listen to the rain and really rest and relax. Our room had a swimming pool and view to the bay through the jungle, which was stunning.

There weren’t much activities to do when it rained, but still it was amazing to relax at the room.

The architecture, food and massage

A tragic and traumatic stay at An Lam RetreatOur family (two adults, 3 children 11,14,16) stayed at A Lam Retreat for 4-nights towards the end of a 3-week tour of Japan and Vietnam.Having been on the move constantly for 2-weeks this was the time we had allocated for relaxing by the beach; we spent a significant amount of our entire vacation budget on these 4 nights (over £4000).Unfortunately, we had an awful and heartbreaking experience at A Lam Retreat, that left our family quite traumatised.On the first night we were disturbed by a really noisy group of neighbours (3 older men with 3 younger woman), where there was allot of quite disturbing screaming and shouting.Despite reporting this to the hotel, the second night was far worse and the memory will never leave us. There was screaming and crying coming from the woman in the neighbouring villa, it was initially so loud that my son thought it was in our villa. We immediately reported it, telling the hotel that the kids are scared and that it sounds like one of the woman was being attacked. They said that they sent a security guard, however it didn’t stop and it got worse, eventually after an hour the duty manager came out and it stopped.We made recordings so that the hotel could hear what we were hearing, however it was only later when we listening to the recordings that we could hear how sinister and awful this was - sounds of choking and crying! Heartbreaking!The next day the duty manager offered me a bottle of wine to compensate for the ordeal; I was frankly horrified and took him aside from my family and played him the recordings. I was told that the occupants of the villa would be leaving that day and I heard no more about it until check out.We spent the next two days feeling so awful, worrying about the girls, and also feeling that we could have done more and should have called police.

Food prices are quite high

The property was amazing and we loved our Bayview villa. The staff were unbelievably friendly and we loved our butler Bao who helped organise everything for us.

The surroundings and architecture of Am Lam Retreat are beautiful. We were kindly given a free upgrade to a room on the beach front - the rooms are very spacious and clean and the atmosphere of the retreat is incredibly relaxing. The hotel offers multiple days out for various activities (at a high price though) and offer the free day trip to Nha Trang which is great if you want to see some of the attractions in the city. Not only does the hotel have the 5 star facilities, but the jungle style and wonderful staff make it such a more enjoyable experience - a shout out to Kim our butler who was very attentive, polite anecdote smiley :) We would absolutely recommend this hotel - it is the best we have ever been to!

The retreat allows you to venture away from the hotel a little and we noticed quite a bit of rubbish and plastic on these more remote sections of the retreat. The staff take good care of the immediate area and to make this hotel better they should spend time cleaning the entire resort.

Incredible and tranquil location in a beautiful bay. The Ocean View Pool Villa was superb with full privacy and perfect facilities. Everything was taken care of by the highly attentive personnel - special shoutout to Tân who was always one step ahead on ensuring a smooth experience. If you have the chance, the yoga class with Ms Hue is highly recommended!

The restaurant was good, but not as excellent as the rest of the retreat.
