Pros +
- restaurant was closed
- Loved the quiet location, beautiful surroundings and gorgeous rooms.
- The historic aspects and llamas.
Cons -
- Room was poorly stocked- no milk or milk substitute, Heating was not turned on-
- Felt reception on arrival was not interested and when we asked about breakfast was told it is just a continental breakfast and better off going to Oamaru. This differs from the website and reviews. Also would have been appreciated being told we could see the chapel in the morning as it was all locked up.
- A bit far out from town.

A bit far out from town.
Helpful and informative host, clean premises, SPACIOUS room which was well stocked. Luxury linens and towels, good bed, roomy bathroom with a tub.
Everything was great!!
The staff were amazing and so accomodating. The room was spacious and comfortable. The whole propert oozes charm and history. The chocolate making facilities on site with a sample in the room was delicious.
Whilst it is secluded and out of town, the charm of the building and gardens makes the drive worth the effort.
Over and above customer service. We really enjoyed the tour and history Dark skies, could enjoy the stars
Pillows were too thin
Far beyond expectations—the staff's sincere and friendly service, the resort being a farm where you can see alpacas in the morning and stargaze at night. Highly recommended!
My old school, a few of us got together for a reunion, while main convent/dormitory area has been rebuilt and is very comfortable the rest of the school has deteriorated over the years.
The exterior of the building was lovely.
It was a long way out of town on small back roads. The entry to the rooms is a glass door, so light from the hallway comes through, and you can hear everything!!!! None of the photos online are representative of the rooms we saw- I have stayed in better hostels.
The large rooms in our suite had wide windows and leafy views. The kitchenette was thoughtfully provisioned. The place was extremely quiet-we thought we were the only guests but there was at least a bus full of others.
Had to do laundry in town 15 kms away.
Beautiful location - building & gardens. Lovely clean comfortable spacious room, very quiet & wonderful helpful staff & a chocolate room!!! A+++++++
I liked the history of the building. I enjoyed visiting the beautiful chapel on-site. The 'resort' also had a chocolatier situated in residence. Delicious Belgium chocolate. The hostess made me feel welcome and was friendly and hospitable. I appreciated this as a solo guest.
The room I was given, close to the main door and staircase, allowed constant noise from other guests entering and exiting the hotel during the evening. The noise, particularly, coming from the occupiers one floor above it, lead to a disruptive stay. They were slamming doors, moving furniture and talking/arguing until 2am in the morning. This did not allow for a restful nights sleep.
Room was clean. Parking was good. Pleased to see a fridge, toaster and microwave. Really handy.
Could hear every step upstairs guests took. Needs insulation or carpet with underlay. Window over the door needs to be covered as light came in all night.
Beautiful church and living space! Nice fruit trees and lovely animals!
Nice grounds with history of the grounds
The room we stayed in didnt have any internal window coverings so the hall way lights shining throug the windows all night. But also the room wasnt quite ready for people to stay so maybe that still needs to be looked at. Also we was travelling with our dog and when book was added to the booking so when arrived we was moved rooms to another one. The booking was made for a king studio room with extra large double bed the room we ended up in was two single beds with not kitchenette ect small details but worth noting
Striking looking property in large grounds. Clean. Comfortable beds. Friendly staff. More of a Retreat than a Resort.
About 15 minutes drive from Oamaru. No laundry etc. All odd crockery & cutlery. Not well equipped.
Out of town but still close. Could hear the birds in the morning. The room was very clean.Staff were nice.
A very friendly, welcoming young lady greeted me on arrival. The room was lovely, large, and very clean. Comfortable bed.Loved the location - it was in a very tranquil setting. May not suit everyone as you need transport to drive to restaurants and shops. I stocked up in Oamaru before my stay. A very restful place to chill out. Take some reading material with you. TV reception?
Nothing. The title "Resort' could be misleading if you are wanting a swimming pool, gym, or restaurant facilities. For me it was a perfect place to unwind, after a very early morning international flight and drive from Christchurch, before starting my travels and catching up with family in NZ
Fantastic little place with a lot of atmosphere! the room had a lot of space, it was clean and super comfortable. The staff was amazing and welcoming, making us feel at hone, as every request was answered immediately. the internet was slow, but the hotel manager warned us before we even knew that there is a general issue related to the entire area, so it’s not the hotel’s fault. the AC a bit noisy, but it didn’t matter much as this hotel is a gem!
noisy AC needs repair and internet speed a bit problematic - but again, it is a problem out of the hotel’s hands.
The serenity, comfort, and history of the property made us feel both lucky and clever to have stayed tgere.
The heritage, old trees, and established orchard gave the place a sense of romance unmatched. If only we could get married again, we would do it there. Alas, once seems to have worked.
