- Our room was unique and large and special. This is a quirky, historic hotel. Breakfast was fine. Location - on the Main Street. close to the market and we were lucky enough to have a parking space. I believe the rest of the rooms did not.

The hotel is so beautifully decorated. We had the apartement which is big with a seating and dining area as well as a kitchen. There was also a washing dryer and a private parking. Breakfast was great. Location is great.
Great location for penguin viewing. Very supportive and flexible when we had to change plans and extend our stay by a day. The room and reception decoration was eclectic (possibly even eccentric in a good way!). Staff were very friendly and had many good recommendations for facilities in town.
This is a very special hotel. Each room has its own theme. My room was a nautical theme and decorated very nicely. The bed was extremely comfortable. The shower was great! The entire staff that I met were quite welcoming and very helpful and answering many questions about their town. It’s very centrally located and I was able to walk everywhere including to the blue penguin experience. the breakfast in the morning was delicious, lots of choices including delicious cheese. I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family.
Great location, love the decor, bed was comfortable, great staff. Highly recommend.
The well thought out decode and horse theme of the room. I also loved the delicious breakfast that is included in the price of the room. I especially loved the local cheeses and fresh avocados.
There is noise from the street outside. It is in an old historical building, however they provide earplugs on the bedside tables.
Aside from all the normal aspects of a hotel, this was just a fun to stay here. A roughly 100 year old building, beautifully remodeled with each room done to a different theme. Services included a very nice bar. Also, the staff was wonderful. Awesome place to stay.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great. Loved the decor.
Quirky, comfortable and clean. Loved the style.
While the location in town was good the noise of boy racer cars and traffic was terrible. Had a patchy night sleep.
In a quirky town, this hotel's interior decoration was creative, fun, interesting and museum pieces of their own adding to our comfort and enjoyment of holiday travelling.
Guests enjoying the do it yourself continental weren't quite sure what to do with their dirty plates. Not a biggy.
This is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at - quirky and obviously put together with love and care. All the rooms I poked my head into were beautiful and spacious. The beds were very comfy, the bathroom facilities top notch and the breakfast put other hotels I've stayed at to shame.
Had a great night here, loved the decor and vibe of the place. Really well located and lovely FOH staff.
Breakfast was great! Central location, was bit of traffic noise and could hear people abit through wall, but ear plugs were provided. Comfy bed!
Eclectic cool space nice people good service
I like it all

The fishing room, someone put in alot of effort to obtain the items and to design the room. Wonderful, comfortable room. Quiet and easy to walk to the Victorian area to go to restaurants and enjoy the blue penguins in the area that evening while walking back to the hotel. Great parking, breakfast was another wonderful surprise with a tray of fruit including avocados and tomatoes. Nice to make our own avocado toast and start the day with healthy choices to eat. Highly recommend this location when visiting Oamaru.
Great location, staff and facilities. So much to look at. It’s cool how the vacant rooms are open so you can have a peek at the other themed rooms. Breakfast was great. Gluten free accommodated for.
Small rooms, electric blanket wires can be felt through sheets. Batteries flat on sky remote so made it difficult to turn off or change channels.
Location is perfect, close to different amenities.
Make it suitable for business travelers; I think the rooms are not equipped for business travelers. The rooms also need to have bins (non was in our room)
