Pros +
- Rooms has a decent size and are quite clean, staff super friendly and helpful. Great location just next to train and bus station and a short walk to the city centre.
- Was what I imagined it would be. Good value for money. Wasn't the best but was quite economical. Especially I liked breakfast and being right next to bus station.
- The hotel had an excellent bed - the most important thing I needed from a hotel. Also, they provided an electric tea kettle when I asked for it, which was a very welcome addition to the room's facilities. The hotel is right across the street from the train station, so it is very convenient from the transportation perspective.
Cons -
- Bathroom might need a bit of modernisation and better lighting.
- You might need earplugs to sleep if you are light sleeper. Sound of city comes through somewhat clearly. Everything is bit old. So if you want to have very fancy hotel, then this is not for you.
- The shower had no door. I never understood what kind of perverted logic goes into making such "design decisions". Also, there were no ceiling lights in the room, so the room was pretty dark at night, to the point that I could not read. Finally, I was not impressed by the breakfast.

Very clean hotel with friendly staff. It’s conveniently located next door to the bus terminal that makes it easy to visit nearby cities. The hotel’s 10-15 minutes walking to center city.
Nothing negative to add.
The front desk staff was very friendly and informative. They were clear communicators once we arrived although not helpful via email. The location had its own parking lot once you figured out how to access it. If you're taking the ferry, it is walking distance to the terminal.
The hotel room we originally were assigned smelled of smoke the moment the door was opened. There was no way the cleaning staff missed that somebody smoked in the room when cleaning it. The only room they were able to give us was a triple on the same floor. It was a very very dimly lit room. If you wanted light you had to go to the bathroom or stand right next to the nightstand table. The room had a very old heating system that didn't warm up and the beds felt damp from Algeciras being a seaside city. The bathroom smelled a bit of sewer. I do not know if the shower had good pressure or hot water because it was not well lit enough for us to take a shower. We survived for our one night stay and had safe parking. Be aware that the hotel is not in a "safe" area of town to walk around alone after dark. While parking on the street to figure out how to check into the hotel, we saw men collecting money for free street parking to "watch" the car.
The hotel was really close to the ferry port. Breakfast was decent minus the “tour group” snatching everything up. Clean and comfortable room.
Close to rail station and Port area.
Walls are thin so can hear neighbors. Also by busy street so noisy.
the location is great, but still quite far from the port (15 minutes by foot). Not too many restaurants around the hotel, but the hotel has its own restaurant. The suite is spacious, and I like the balcony. The staffs are very nice.
the facility is a bit old, there was water leaking from the roof.
Great staff. Very helpful. William in the restaurant was delightful. Fantastic location if arriving by train and we took a day trip to Gibraltar and the bus station is literally right next door. No noise from train or bus station.
Our air conditioning didn’t work well enough but was going to be fixed. They offered to move us but we’d unpacked. Left the door open and enjoyed fresh air instead as we were on a high floor.
Great location next to the train station and bus station. Great value to price ratio. Good buffet breakfast. We had an amazing balcony view as well and the room was quiet at night. We liked everything
Hotel rooms were fine. Hotel staff was nice.
Hotel neighborhood was dirty and looked very unsafe.
Well priced in central location. Right next to bus station which is what I wanted.
No complaints
Right in the top of the city’s Bus Station and close by the port
Noise from the bus station
The location
- Parking : the hotel has no private parking while they mention they have one on booking. Actually it is the bus station parking that was complete for the duration of the stay.- Arogant staff : when I arrived nearby, I called the reception on the phone to ask about the parking. They told me it is complete and that they can do nothing. I mentioned that I had called before to make sure they have a parking and make sure I will have a place as I have a convertible car. The man got angry and sarcastic !!- Very dirty : I found a cockroach in the room. Killed it yet spent the night anxious about having other ones around. I took a picture of it.- no light in the second room (junior suite) : the second room has no roof light but only a lamp and only one electrical plug… you can either have the light or charge your phone. Not both.
Next to bus station and opposite train station. Convenient but means noise from busses on one side and cars on the other.Room and bathroom are spacious and clean.
Convenient one night stay
We chose to come to Algeciras since we would pick up our rental car on our way out. In order to keep it simple we picked a standard room right next to the bus station. The room was no frills, just two twin beds and a fridge. Since there was a fridge we were kind of surprised that there wouldn’t be a hot water kettle or a microwave but we made it work. The hotel has an old charm to it with the oak and metal details so we really liked looking around. Another plus was the communal lounge with armchairs. I spent one afternoon sitting out there working on my computer. We ate a meal out there too. We tried the breakfast buffet on the final morning but the food was cold, that was disappointing. Overall the hotel was fine for what we needed. One thing we wish we did was take time to get a drink at the bar. It had that same old charm that the rest of the decorations did.
Picked this hotel for its easy access to the ferry port which I took to Tangier. Comfortable room allowed me to rest before my early departure next morning. The reception staff were friendly and helpful.
This was our second visit at Mir Octavio. Just as wonderful as the first time. Spacious rooms, walking distance to evrything. The staff was amazing as usual. Will return again.
Only about 20 minutes from bus terminal. Rooms were nice size and area around hotel was quiet. They have a bar and restaurant. High water pressure and hot water was nice after several weeks in Morocco.
Nothing really
Great location, great breakfast, frienly staff
