About
This 19th-century manor house is in central Sanlúcar de Barrameda, a 10 minute walk from La Calzada Beach. It offers an outdoor pool and air conditioned rooms with cable TV. Los Helechos has a beautiful central courtyard with a typical Andalusian fountain. There is also a rooftop sun terrace. The rooms at Los Helechos feature tiled floors and simple décor. Each one has a private bathroom and a work desk. The hotel serves breakfast in the cafe. The staff at the 24-hour front desk can provide information about what to see and do on the Costa de la Luz. Sanlúcar is just across the River Guadalquivir from the Doñana National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Jerez Airport is around a 35 minute drive from the hotel.

- The location in Sanlucar is good and the secure car park was a bonus. The inner courtyard yard is very attractive.
- Very large room equipped with comfortable beds and good quality linen. Lovely bathroom. Too. We loved the outside seating space and view across the terrace.
- We loved how traditional it is, the courtyard patios, the tiles, the roof terrace and plants everywhere. The rooms are spacious and light. It is so pretty, cool and airy. In an attempt to modernise and ‘upgrade’ , so many places are destroying their traditional Spanish features so it’s refreshing to find a place like this and comfort isn’t compromised for it. It’s close to the centre, a short walk to the main plazas, cafes and bars yet down a quiet street.
Cons -
- When I telephoned to make a reservation to park the car, I ask the female receptionist if she spoke English - she said no and put the phone down on me. I tried again and eventually she understood what was required. When we arrived she certainly wasn’t welcoming and put us in a small and dreary room where the heating wasn’t working. Thankfully a very helpful man had taken over and he kindly moved us to a much better room where the heater worked. Because of this woman we will never stay in Los Helechos again nor would I recommend it to anyone.
- Parking is available for a fee, but it is extremely tight to access from the road.
- We belong to the group of people, often British, who like to have a kettle for making our tea in the room

Fantastic location in the centre and with a nice bodega 50 yards away.

Location was very convenient for walking around the centre. Everything was very clean. The hotel building is a lovely old Spanish house with a courtyard and plenty of charm
Room was very cold although there was aircon but didn’t seem to warm it at all. The bells of the monastery next door started at 6:50 am and woke me up and kept tolling at intervals.
Clean, tidy, traditional Spanish Hotel in a great location just off the main shopping street and close to the main squares. Friendly and helpful staff, nice little bar/café, underground parking extra 12 Euros but very handy given the central location. Interior is quite pretty with open courtyard and fountain around which the rooms are arranged on two levels. Rooms large, clean and tidy if a little sparse, this is mainly down to the marble flooring which in winter does not make a cosy room but I imagine in the height of summer is a blessing.
All was good and as expected for the price we paid, Only thing to be aware of was the turn into the garage is a little tight, and we had to do a little careful back and forth shuffling to make the turn on the exit but we were driving a large XC Volvo estate so only really an issue for bigger vehicles I suspect.
A really lovely , traditional hotel . Very friendly staff , spotlessly clean . Great location
Nothing .. it was perfect
Situation staff good value but not perfect
No dining room for us, only cafe
Beautiful hotel with delightful relaxing spaces, filled with light & plants. Most rooms have table & chairs outside for relaxing, as well as sun beds & a lovely pool on the roof. Our room was very nice & comfy & very clean. It’s my second stay here & I definitely recommend it to friends. Parking on-site (12€ a day) is also an added bonus. Location is perfect, just a couple of minutes walk from the main 2 squares.
Stayed for two nights on a room only basis. Within walking distance of the historic centre but a bit more of a trek to the beach. A bit dated but comfortable enough. The rooftop pool was a godsend.
Choose it partly for the parking. That's under the hotel and very tight to manouver. Once I got parked I wasn't tempted to go out again till I left on day three.
Nice hotel, would return. Nice courtyard and pool, relaxing
Some noise outside on the patio at 8am on the Tuesday morning
Very clean lovely cleanersCentral to a vibrant townVery authentic
The hotel is pretty
It is very basic, there are no breakfast facilities & it was noisy
Spotlessly clean both in the rooms and around hotel. Beds were exceptinally comfortable. My room was adequate size and was simply and tastefully decorated.Excellent location, 10 minute walk to beach. In centre of town so lots of shops and cafes close by also 5 minute walk to bus station. There is a bar/ cafe attached to hotel which was really convenient for morning coffee etc.The exterior was very well maintained, traditional Andalucian features with beautifully maintained flowers, greenery and plenty of seating areas. Would certainly return.
There was a small roof top pool, which was included as additional features in my booking, however it was closed for maintenance during the full 5 days of my stay which was really disappointing. Probably worth checking beforehand for future bookings.
bed adequate, shower fine, hot and excellent water pressure, wifi slow, cafe on site very practical and pleasant
wifi needs improvement
Great location in a quiet back street just a couple of minutes from Plaza del Cabildo, the main square. It has a downstairs bar where locals drink. I was on the top floor, on a lovely roof terrace shared by about 8 rooms, all very sociable, and a small pool. Comfortable and clean room.
Breakfast was somewhat basic.
The location was perfect in the centre of activity, the courtyard was lovely, room and bed both good. Shower was excellent.
We didn't find the parking until too late.
The hotel is really kept clean and in good shape, with typical local style architecture. Location is Top, in the heart of Sanlúcar - 2min walk to main street(s) with restaurants and shops. The staff was very helpful. Good if you know Spanish. Garage is available if not fully booked for extra cost per night (12 € when we were there).
The hotel was very picturesque and Andalusian. Was a very comfortable bed and room. Excellent shower and bath, Hotel in a central location. Close to restaurants, bars, shops and the beach. Lovely areas to sit and have a drink.
The hotel only had a cafe with a limited range of food.
The property was lovely
On arrival a mature lady tried to give us a room which was far below the one we had booked. On complaining to her we showed the booking we had made on bookings and she made it difficult to give us the up market room we wanted. I would like to say the young man who was on the desk was extremely pleasant and helpful.
