About
Halfway between Seville and Córdoba, in the Guadalquivir Valley, stands this 15th-century Franciscan monastery transformed into a boutique destination hotel. Wake up to the scent of orange blossom and a freshly squeezed orange juice; lose yourself among its three columned patios, gardens and organic orchard. Enjoy its restaurant Hortus, under the gastronomic direction of Celia Jiménez, in the Chapter Hall, or savor traditional Córdoba-style tapas on the terrace. Cool off in the large swimming pool surrounded by gardens or host a private event in the wine cellar. The monastery also features a lounge, the Bishop Salon, where you will find a library, Smart TV, billiards and a workspace with natural light and impressive views that invite contemplation and long, relaxed conversations. Experience the beauty of Andalusia both within the building and beyond its centuries-old walls. The monastery is pet friendly and well-behaved pets are always welcome. For cycling enthusiasts, the hotel offers a fully equipped garage to store and service bicycles. A place for those who wish to enjoy the true meaning of the good life, with countless corners designed for rest, inspiration and renewal. Cons -
- They are not kind to children and families and a few of the staff members made us feel very unwelcome. We were never explained some of their unique policies at check in, not stroller friendly, they put us on second floor with two little kids
- All was wonderful!
- Parking is on street, which is fine as plenty of options but not the safest.A hotel bar would be welcome.

Beautiful interesting historic place, well restored monastery. Great food.
Beautiful setting- between Cordoba and Seville. Such a lovely, unique place to stay- the dinner and breakfast was great.
We came here with friends that were here before! They told us already in advance what a wonderful place this was. But little did we know; HOW amazing it would be! The bed in the superior room was the most comfortable hotel bed we’ve ever slept in! Everything is full of wonderful details and beauty!
All was wonderful!
The hotel was amazing and the lady on the front desk was so lovely and was very helpful we only stayed for one evening but would definitely go back.
Rooms and facilities were great, the beds are super comfy.Rooms are spacious and great

Excellent breakfast, friendly staff, nice building and history.
Room furniture not adequate for a hotel. It's an old monastery but the room should be comfortable enough for the purpose of being a hotel.I didn't like the AC blowing on my head when in bed!The armchair in the room has never been cleaned. Looking under I find a spider web that seems to be there for months.Bad smell in the basic bathroom,
I stayed 5 nights in this stunning place as a solo traveller. Staff were friendly and super polite, made me feel like a queen! The room was cleaned and made immaculate every day.The swimming pool is fantastic, the lovely owner Alonso told me he believed it was 29 meters. I can say for a fact it is at least 25 m and for an avid swimmer like me this was a firm highlight. It felt great to do some lengths after hot days walking in Cordoba and Seville respectively. The Monastery is perfectly located between Cordoba and Seville, allowing for day trips to either, yet returning to this fantastic little paradise at the end of the day. Very welcoming owner, invited me for dinner one evening which was one of the highlights of the visit. Also gave me the great tip of visiting Ecija, which I did on the day I left. Very much worth a visit and the archeological museum was free for EU citizens on the day I went. Fascinating history in this area and this monastery is also full of stories.Thank you Alonso and staff for a brilliant stay. Hope to be back some day ?
The monastery is just stunning. It's so peaceful and tranquil. Our room was fabulous. Top quality bed and bedding. Lovely bathroom. The food was very good. Varied choice at breakfast and the lunch and dinner menu were very good. The food itself was delicious. The waitervand waitresses were lovely. So helpful and friendly. The pool...omg...its fabulous. We basically had it to ourselves too!Check in was OK. The lady on reception thay was friendly and helpful.
Check out.The lady on reception that day didn't smile and actually huffed when I turned up and asked to check out as it was disturbing something she was doing on her computer. She didn't speak, just pushed the card machine at me to pay for incidentals. It was nearly 300 euro so I asked if I could see the bill first. Another huff and copies of the receipts that we'd signed were shoved across the desk. There was no enquiring as to whether we had enjoyed our stay etc etc.Soon as I'd paid age went back to her computer!
We cannot rate this place high enough. Everything about our stay was perfect. Beautiful Building, comfortable room. Wonderful gardens and pool which were really relaxing. Staff were really nice without being at all pushy. The service at the restaurant was excellent and prices reasonable. We arrived by bike and there was a special room with locks, pump and tools. The town was nice but the hotel grounds were so delightful we spent most of the time there.
An absolute gem. So beautifully restored and maintained with wonderful staff an amazing pool and a total sense of retreat.
There was nothing I didn’t like. Could have stayed much longer.
Everything! Staff were very friendly and accommodating; room was very clean and spacious with great shower, ac and comfortable big bed. We had lunch and dinner and the food was excellent, including breakfast. Fantastic swimming pool and check out at 12 meant we could have a late morning swim. Dogs were provided with a bed, bowl and bag of treats. As soon as you settle in you feel instantly relaxed and free to wonder around. It’s like staying in a mini museum.
Nothing, it was all great!
What an extraordinary place! Gorgeous place with incredible staff, and decor worthy of Architectural Digest. The biggest pool surrounded by stunning gardens.
Nothing!
This is a wonderful discovery! A real oasis of calm framed by lovely sensitively restored architecture and gardens.A fabulous spot to rest and relax in the heat and enjoy a swim in the long pool while contemplating the monastery building and the orange trees. Early morning swims rolled into substantial breakfasts and healthy lunches with vegetables from the restored monastery garden (which I had witnessed being picked during my morning swims) .A great place to retreat from a busy life and shut yourself away enclosed within the monastery walls and patios for a few days to disconnect and recharge batteries. I didn't leave the monastery complex for 4 days! The whole place exudes simplicity and quiet good taste, but my favourites were the 15th century red patio with a lush green central topiary garden, such an appealing place to relax and have a coffee, and the dining room, such an elegant and impressive historic room, made very relaxing by the jazz soundtrack and the garden views of flowers and trees. Authentic food from Cordoba and Andalusia, everything homemade and using ingredients from the garden as much as possible. An exceptionally good restaurant for vegetarians, which can be hard to find in Andalucía.I will return for sure and bring others too to share the peaceful almost meditative experience.Great location to recharge batteries between city visits in Seville and Córdoba or to combine with a visit to the coast in Cadiz, all of which are easily accessible by train. If you are a fan of Paradors in Spain, the Monasterio is like a smaller version with a more personal touch because your hosts are the family who have owned the building for over 200 years. Something for people who want an authentic off the beaten track experience and something so different from a 'normal' 4-star hotel.
Beautiful, relaxing, peaceful and unique are words to describe Monasterio de San Francisco. Much attention to detail was given. We enjoyed garden and lovely pool. The proprietor was very warm and welcoming as was the staff.
We loved everything about the hotel. Photos show several different photos of inside and out.
Great location. Very good breakfast. Beautiful building
This monastery is simply splendid; what a beautiful location. It creates a world of its own of rest and peace. We felt honored to stay there. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, breakfast and dinner were very good. There's even a large swimming pool. The rooms are large for a cloister, nice bathroom. Thanks again for the PARKING CARD.
The only thing we didn't like was leaving this amazing Monasterio de San Francisco.
Beautiful place with lots of character. You feel the history. Very nice staff. We really enjoyed it as a stopover from Cordoba to Sevilla. Great place to relax in between.
Unique property, excellent pool
A bit of a maze, stone floors a bit hard on the feet. Power cut during my stay.
