- It is a beautiful property the rooms are super cozy
- The place is beautiful. My son and daughter loved Mr Manuel and his explanations about the birds and the cows.
- We only saw one staff member an older gentleman who was really friendly and showed us around, including the birds. The check-in and check out was really easy and everything explained. The location is quiet and 10 mins from the centre of Setúbal and 25 mins to the beaches so great location.
Cons -
- The shower being opened gets the floor wet, they should add a curtain or a door, sometimes the toilet starts smelling like sewer, the door to the bathroom didnt close properly, we stayed for 7 days but we never got a towel change nor a room clean, also the room could’ve been cleaned better before we got to the apartment.
- Breakfast could be better. It is a good option that avoids a drive somewhere else for a meal, but many of the items offered are junk-food. The best items consisted of fresh fruit. But one could get better meals for the option's price.
- On arrival our cabin was filthy, there was even dental floss on the floor, the whole place was really dusty, however the bathroom was clean. I have never stayed in such a filthy place. We wanted to use the hot tub and swimming pool, the indoor hot tub was filthy, green stuff all around it and the indoor pool was filthy even the seating areas. We decided not to check the other pool or outdoor hottub. Our room was the one connected to the bar, and the noise is unbearable and really uncomfortable you can literally hear everyone's conversations, and everything from the next door cabin, we could not sleep. There is no privacy we were almost whispering to eachother. Finally and the reason I will never be going back is the condition the birds are kept, it is beyond cruel in my opinion. There is a stunning owl tied up on a tiny rope, he is Siberian and therefore not a fan of the heat yet spends all day outside and hardly unable to move around. We were shown the Falcon enclosures and other birds and the smell was unbearable, the cages were absolutely filthy, and very very small, it borders on cruelty to animals. Dogs were barking all night and then the next day I saw them as well in tiny cages outside, the barking woke me up constantly, and I honestly left this place with a heavy heart for these poor animals.

The green location, Jacuzi, explanation about the birds and the size of the room.
There was a smell of the sewage at night, bathroom had black mould and the water had a strange spot
The location of the hotel is excellent, very close to Setúbal yet surrounded by nature. The kitchenette is well-equipped and convenient for cooking. There was always hot water in the shower.
the bed was not very comfortable, and the shower wasn’t inviting, giving more of a camping-in-nature vibe. The walls in the bungalow are very thin, so you can hear everything happening in the neighboring rooms.
Falcoaria de Santa Efigênia is a unique and fascinating place nestled in the heart of a serene forest. The owner is incredibly knowledgeable about birds of prey and offers an educational experience, showcasing various species of falcons and owls on the property. While it was impressive to learn so much about these majestic creatures, I felt a bit uneasy seeing them kept in large cages. Nonetheless, it's a wonderful spot for bird enthusiasts and those looking to deepen their understanding of falconry and wildlife.
Set in a very quiet location at the edge of a wooded area, and easily reached by car from Lisbon airport. Note that intersection leading to it from the main road can be easily missed! We stayed in one of the wooden bungalows, where we were served an excellent breakfast in the morning. Basic but clean and comfortable accommodation. If arriving late at night one would need to provide own tea or coffee. But there was a bottle of wine in the fridge. In the morning after breakfast Mr. Manuel give a very informative / interactive talk about birds of prey!
The room is good, nice to be able to cook and eat there. We were also happy they could accomodate our dog.
The staff were very rude. They told us we could check in early but when we arrived they sent us away again, we had driven a long way and were not happy about that. There was a problem with our door lock, it could not be opened, it took a long time for it to be resolved. The worst thing about this place is that they have captive birds on display for the entertainment of guests. There was an owl tethered beside the bar, even during the day. The owl was obviously very stressed because of all the people being so close to him. The lady told us some story about conservation but as I work in conservation, frankly, this story was rubbish. Besides all the birds being in cages there were also DOGS in cages. We had to walk past them every day and seeing them locked up was distressing. If you are in any sense an animal lover I suggest you avoid this place.
Friendly staff and cool experience meeting the birds! Also gave us plenty of local recommendations.
The Bufo, although he was tied to a tree. The nature around.
You feel like you are constantly on the way of the workers. You can hear everything between chalés and also our cabin was situated behind the bar and we could hear everything. No one was there to greet us and to show us the property or the falcons.
The place had beautiful surroundings and we were welcomed very warmly with our dog for which you we needed to pay a 15 Euro fee. We did not mind it but it would be good to know beforehand anyway. It was pouring rain the first night so we enjoyed a nice homecooked meal and some wine from the hotel which were very good.
The walls were very thin and we could hear everything from the next door cabin - even normal chatter, which made our first night very uncomfortable. Also since our cabin was right behind the reception the second night we were woken up by somebody looking for the check-in in the middle of the night. So this is not for people who need quiet, which we were hoping for as it was very remote. The place has a lot of potential but for what it is right now - we found the price for the cabin we got a little high.
Accommodation was perfect for our overnight stay, a great location and ecologically responsible. The staff were amazing, friendly and helpful and took the time to talk about the Birds of Prey after noting we would be leaving before the show the next morning. There are multiple animals so expect some noise.
Nice quiet spot, interesting to see all the birds
Cabin shower mildew issues
The staff was top notch. Received us at a very late hour without any problem, the chalet was awesome and even got a fantastic gift from them on top of it! Highly recommend it!
Our visit was great because we were able to get a chance to watch great creatures with excellent guidance by Mr. Manuel. Calm place, nice bungalow, bottle of wine in the fridge
Take something to protect yourself from mosquitoes during night!!!
The place is cute. they put a lot of love into details. Wine in the fridge, table is set,..dogs are allowed which is great. Location is great and quiet. Only very big minus was the very bad mattress - it urgently needs to be replaced, we did not get much sleep. Other than that very good value for money.
The challé; the open farm space; the swimming pool was decent; staff was very helpful and kind.
I would not say “didn’t like” however most of the times staff was not around; the challé was not clean during our stay.
The property is full of old olive and cork trees. It was very quiet, even while all cabins around us were full. We were very kindly welcomed, with a wine bottle and a very clean room. We stayed only for 1 night so we didnt need much, only to rest and relax for a night in a place in nature, with our baby and dog. It extended our expectations, the jacuzzi was right next to our cabin, ready to jump in! Sheets were hotel standart. In the morning we had a coffee on the place and walked around with the stroller enjoying the space.
Although this is not the fault of the owners, I would like to mention that the water is not great quality, in the shower or in the pool, a lot of calcarium, which leaves the skin quite dry. WC was not cleaned from the inside.
The coziness of the property, the guided visit to the Falcoaria with Mr. Manuel (100% worth it, do not miss!), the hospitality of the lady at the Bar, the super chill area outside with the pool and jacuzzi, everything was surreal given the price paid, couldn’t recommend more.
The tent can get really hot in the morning even with the AC on. But maybe it was out mistake because we turned it off during the night
The place is really unique. We stayed in the tent for one night and was really comfortable. Air Conditioner hot/cold. And even a private shower and bathroom behind the bed in a separate room. I really enjoyed also the dinner, which is possible to order and will be served directly in your room. They even gave us one bottle of wine and water when we arrived. A real sweet detail. Also, there are owls and animals around the farm that will leave you amazed
The pool was not possible to use and overall i would have loved more little details like flowers on the handmade wood tables
