About
Located in between Évora’s Gothic cathedral and the Templo de Diana, this renovated convent features a courtyard swimming pool together with characteristic arched halls and vaulted ceilings. The rooms at the Pousada consist of the old cells of the Lóios monks, which have been carefully updated in terms of comfort, while still maintaining all of its original and historical features. The private bathroom comes with bathtub and shower. The rooms come with free WiFi access, mini bar, air conditioning, safety deposit box and a flat-screen TV. Guests will be able to enjoy the experience of sleeping in a cell, while still being assured of relishing modern comforts. Guests can enjoy Portuguese dishes in Pousada’s restaurant, which has a chic indoor dining hall and a covered terrace by the pool. There is also a bar and a large lobby with plenty of seating. The Pousada de Évora has a 24-hour reception that can arrange horse riding trips and hikes. Guests can also walk around the city center and visit Giraldo's Square with its 16th century fountain.

It was lovely and the staff was very responsive and professional
The hotel is like a museum and in middle of the city. It's was a wonderful experience.
The staff was excellent
Location and common areas
Room way too small
Great location. Big rooms.
breakfast was very goodthere was construction so they had to upgrade our room, which was great
the poolgetting to it is circuitousand there's a bar out there, but no bartendercouldn't get water or towelshad to go back in to lobby
A very comfortable hotel in a fantastic location for seeing the sights.
We stayed on a Saturday night but struggled to find a restaurant in the immediate vicinity.
The location was amazing - right next to the Roman ruins and other sights. The staff were friendly and helpful. The building is full of history and interesting.
It’s old and the accommodations are reflective of its age. The bath/shower combination is awkward to use and for older guests may be impossible. Water from the shower leaked all over the floor. Small ants were also around - hope they don’t go home with us. Our first room at $200+ a night was way too small. We upgraded for an additional $150 per night (total $350+ per night.) not worth the money.
Fabulous converted historic convent next to Roman ruins and a Michelin star restaurant. Every corner had lovely architectural detail and the very sumptuous breakfast was served in the old cloisters I think. I also had dinner there one night and it was excellent. The staff were very attentive and the front office staff arranged a special taxi tour for me last minute as I had some spare hours. The pool was very clean and secluded with comfortable loungers while the location of the hotel was marvellous and a short walk to the town centre with lots of little stores and a wide variety of restaurants.
Everything was exceptional and I enjoyed staying in a converted nun’s cell that was small but very comfortable and all that I needed, especially when you add in a fabulous bathroom with an enormous tub.
breakfast was good
claw tub shower with hand held water head hard for a bigger guy.
Amazing historic hotel! Upon our arrival Telma, at Check in, was incredibly welcoming and helpful to our family. She worked so hard to make sure everything was perfect! The hotel itself has an incredibly rich history and all of the rooms are named as “monk cells”.. the hotel it located directly next to the stunning Roman ruins and Palace..you can’t get a better location, and the breakfast was huge and delicious! We will definitely return!
Beautifully appointed hotel in an historic building. Very comfortable and quiet. Dinner & Breakfast were delicious and the variety of choices was wonderful. The front desk was so helpful and very friendly. The pool area was lovely and quiet the night we arrived.
I can offer no suggestions to improve the quality of our experience.
Location was great, close to all the attractions. Friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Unfortunately the hotel does not deserve the 5 star rating, we were expecting more, the hotel needs updating.
Comfortable bed. Great location. Helpful staff. Lovely public rooms. great ambience of a 15th century convent.
The rooms are due for a makeover! The carpet, for example, is looking pretty tired. As pointed out by many people, the room is tiny, but perfectly manageable. The pool could use some more chairs to accommodate the number of guests who like to use it.
The location
The rooms were moldy with stained carpets. Not value for money at all compared to the other hotels we stayed at during the week.
The uniqueness of the property, the excellent location, and the friendly staff.
As expected, the room is small; it would be helpful to have some hooks and small tables in the “foyer” of the cell to accommodate luggage.
This is a beautifully maintained historical building . It is wonderful to be able to stay in such a building. The location is fabulous. The staff were very helpful particularly as I had reduced mobility.
breakfast was good, room dirty and very small.
Location was wonderful and staff attentive and friendly - breakfast was very good
For the price the historical monks cell was very cramped for a couple with two large suitcases
