- The staff was great. Hostess at welcome desk 100% The restaurant servers were nice and pleasant but it felt like they were overwhelmed service was just ok
- Room cleanness, decoration. Everything modern and new. EXTREMELY helpful and kind staff.
- Excellent family hotel. A lot of activities for the kids, small and big. There was a program for almost the whole day for the kids organized by the hotel, the farm animals left us with some core memories. The dining experience was excellent
Cons -
- Since this property is in the middle of NOWHERE, and there were a lot of families with small children, I was expecting to see more kids activity. There is a Kid's club with some activities, but it's really boring to stay the whole day at the hotel. The property is huge and beautiful, there is so much more they could have done to make it more entertaining. Also, there is only one restaurant and the food quality wasn't exceptional. Given the purpose of this type of hotel, it lacks a lot of activities.
- Everything was exceptional!
- The only downsides were that the steam sauna was closed for renovation, and the soap and shower dispensers in many bathrooms were broken or hard to use — they felt a bit cheap and could use replacement. Also, the hotel is somewhat remote, located in the middle of the forest, so depending on where you’re coming from, it might take a couple of hours to drive there. And while our daughter loved exploring and watching the many little forest bugs, it might not be ideal for guests who prefer a completely bug-free environment.

Octant Évora delivered a true 5-star experience from the moment we parked until we left. The hospitality stood out right away, every staff member was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. We enjoyed both the dinner and the breakfast buffet, and every dish tasted fresh, flavorful, and rooted in Alentejo's traditions. Our spa massage was another highlight, fully relaxing and beautifully done. The entire property felt carefully designed to inspire calm, with elegant amenities and thoughtful touches everywhere. What made the stay unforgettable, though, were the small moments: walking along the wooden viewpoints by the lake, savoring the peaceful landscape, and exploring the "Horta do Chefe" where we met baby goats and other animals. It felt like being connected to nature without giving up any comfort. Octant Évora captures the soul of Alentejo: slow, warm, delicious, and full of life. I can't wait to come back in the summer and enjoy it all over again, this time with even more sun, pool time, and long walks by the water :)
Everything was exceptional!
This is an amazing family-oriented hotel, perfect for a peaceful stay close to nature. The location near the forest is beautiful and ideal for long walks — the territory is huge, clean, and full of thoughtful details that make the stay special. There are so many family-friendly activities! The babysitters and animators organize games and events for kids of all ages, both in Portuguese and English. Our 2.5-year-old daughter was treated so kindly and always included in the activities. She especially loved being able to switch between group games and quiet play when she wanted. The hotel has two fantastic kids’ zones — one with babysitters and a free-play area, and another near the restaurant where children can play while parents enjoy their meal and still keep an eye on them. They even organize cartoon nights on a big projector wall, and during Christmas, the decorations make everything feel extra magical. The pools are excellent, with both outdoor and warm indoor options. There are even separate visiting hours for adults and children, which makes it comfortable for everyone. The food was delicious, with great variety and child-friendly menus for picky eaters. We also loved all the little touches — like free rain boots for all ages so kids can play outside after rainy weather, do gardening activities, or splash in puddles. There are friendly animals (sheep, goats, a horse, and guinea pigs) that kids can visit and feed. Plus, there are free bikes to explore the area or even ride to the nearby lake. For adults, there’s a relaxing spa with a sauna and massage options, and for drivers, the free parking with electric chargers for up to 8 cars was a fantastic bonus. The staff were extremely kind, helpful, and attentive to every detail. We noticed that Friday to Sunday is the best time to stay if you’re looking for more families with kids around to share activities with.

The breakfast buffet was spectacular and the facilities were beautiful and well maintained. We were sad we could only stay for one night.
Beautiful design, lovely grounds. Friendly staff.
Property and surrounding spaces are really good (also for kids). Bedrooms really really good. Food is good.
In general, staff and service needs to seriously improve (e.g., service takes a lot of time/we need to ask for the same thing several times, no answer from the restaurant/reception when we tried to ask for room service).
We really like the location of this hotel and the nature surrounding it, especially the trail to the river and the swings by the river.
This year, for the first time, we rented not a room but Villa No. 37, and we were deeply disappointed. There was a terrible smell coming from the kitchen sink, which spread into both the living room and the bedroom. We asked the hotel staff to do something about it, and they tried, but with regular cleaning products it was impossible — it was obvious that repairs were needed. As a result, during all three days of our stay, it was impossible to be in the kitchen. We came there to celebrate our son’s birthday, but the stay was ruined, as the smell in the kitchen made it unpleasant to be there at all. On top of that, we don’t particularly like the hotel’s restaurant. I can attach photos of the breakfast area — showing how dirty the floor and sofas are, and the kind of scrambled eggs they serve. We paid over €1,000 per night for this accommodation. I regret that we spent my son’s birthday at this hotel, in this villa.
It was such an amazing experience at Octant Evora. The ambiance, the smell of the region and the calmness. I wish we could have stayed there forever.
Super Clean, great service, great food, delicious complimentary biscuits, great pool, very modern building.
Great stay at the hotel with lovely walks and facilities. Excellent restaurant and breakfasts
Large number of families with young children was the only issue
Beautiful spaces in the hotel and gorgeous land around it. Very nice staff and excellent food.
The location from the moment you arrive makes you transform into a relaxed state . An authentic oasis , respecting its surroundings nestled in nature . The staff was so amazing from booking to check in and tirelessly helping to resolve an issue I had with my reservation . Always delivered with a smile . Also the massage we received were of great quality with very knowledgeable Practioners .
Only a few small suggestions . Potentially an area for drinks inside for adults , maybe even leveraging the spacious open lobby area . Outside when the weather is nice is no problem ! Also maybe considering to separate the kids activity area from the main dining room as at times it was a bit noisy . But these are small suggestions .
We hired a villa for 4 nights in April for two adults and two young children (age 9 and 7). We just wanted to relax and explore the local area - the town of Évora and the surrounding countryside, including the cork oaks and ancient olive trees. Apparently it’s really hot in summer (35-40C)… even in April it was peaking in the mid 20s C.The villa was very spacious, with two good-sized bedrooms, and well-equipped, including a kitchen. The outside area was private, good for relaxing by the pool with views of the countryside. Our children loved the farm and the kids’ play area. There were lots of tame animals for petting - goats, sheep and a pony. The kids’ club was well organised and our children enjoyed some the activities - pottery and pizza making. We chose the hotel because it had an indoor pool (the outdoor pools are too cold in April!) Pool was a bit small but did the job - we went every day.Restaurant food (including the breakfast buffet) and service were generally quite good, especially the grill menu, but the bar and restaurant lacked a bit of ambience. Possibly the wine could’ve been more free flowing! The local old railway line is a great spot for cycling and running.Overall, we had an excellent stay and would recommend the hotel - fairly good value for money and something different from the Algarve!
The resort is superb, very well maintained, very modern, with a Scandinavian feel. The restaurant, however, is not up to the same standard by any means. Expensive for what they offer, a bifana that had nothing to do with what a real portuguese bifana is, a pizza that looked defrosted, an octopus rice with 3-4 small pieces of octopus. They probably rely on the fact that Evora is a bit far away, but it doesn't compare to what you can eat in restaurants in Evora.
The restaurant
The venue is amazing, and the surroundings is peaceful.
I stayed in a standard room with balcony. The balcony was not cleaned and it had cigarettes on the table and ashes on the floor; the bedside table lamp wasn’t working; overall, I felt the room needs to be renovated and some repairs need to be considered.
Everything perfect, all new, staff was so nice! And hotel is really pet friendly, we could take our take wverywhere, even in a restaurant. Will come again!
20 mins to Evora, great facilities and restaurant, very kid friendly and comfortable
Truly exceptional hotel with the kindest staff and a dream for a family with little ones! We loved the modern design and spaciousness of the rooms, yummy breakfast, amazing nature surrounding the hotel, and bicycles you can just take and go and the animal farm were a true hit for our 4 year old.
We didn’t expect much, but it was such a pleasure to stay here! Everything was exceptional! The warm welcome, the great location with lots of things to do at, kids friendly and client-oriented!Really nice breakfast buffet. The room was also great, with all the facilities needed, spacious and clean! We highly recommend this place!
