Hotel Carol - Vatra Dornei

Very nice historical building in the center near the park with spa and good restaurant on site.

The stay was as we expected: wonderfull. Close to the city center with anything close to the stay. The staff were helpfull and everything we wanted was at really short walk from the hotel. Also the hotel has a long history and it also felt a privilege staying there.

Comfortable room.

The restaurant is slow, expensive and not that good, but there is no Glovo available.

The location is great, in the city center. We also liked the cleanliness, the size of the room and the staff was also great. The SPA is small but enough and you have 1 hour included in the room price.

Breakfast could be more diversified, especially the bread selection (there was only toast-like bread).

Hotel Carol is a well situated property located near the center of town . Access to shopping and restaurants is excellent. The rooms are reasonably well appointed but dated.

I did not care for the behavior of most of the staff. They do not greet people in the reception or restaurant and come across as surly. There was one exception yesterday. Thus young lady who was on duty in reception yesterday morning at 9:30 am was very nice.The breakfast offered was not good. There was no fruit, the breakfast cereal was an artificial processed variety that would probably be rejected by a dog. There was one type of bread offered that might have been mistaken for cardboard or styrofoam.. The staff serving the breakfast was unwelcoming , appeared morose and gave the impression that they had better things to do than work. Overall the entire presentation might be more applicable in a prison. We will never eat in this restaurant again and do not recommend it.

Breakfast was good and we enjoyed the spa.

We would have appreciated filtered water so we didn't have to use plastic bottles.

Service throughout our stay was excellent, with the staff attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming.The SPA facilities were a highlight — the Jacuzzi and sauna provided the perfect dose of relaxation after a day exploring the area. The inclusion of single-use slippers was a nice touch, although the bathrobes could be a little larger for added comfort.Breakfast was generous and tasty, though we would have loved to see more local cheese varieties and regional produce on the table. Also, as coffee lovers, we would have preferred to prepare our own coffee using the machine, rather than requesting refills from the staff.Overall, Hotel Carol delivers a refined, warm, and memorable experience — an ideal choice for those seeking both comfort and character in Vatra Dornei. We would gladly return.

The rooms were very nice and the livingroom area of our 2 bedroom suite was big and spacious with a mini-bar.

The restaurant has great beef tenderloin, but the chicken was burnt on the bottom, the pizza was limp - the crust was way too soft, like dough, not pizza crust. The mint lemonade was great, but the Mojito was bitter, horrible and had no taste. It was 400 lei for 3 people and only 1 of the meals was good and the cocktail was horrible. Go eat somewhere else!Breakfast was barely ok. They offered HOT milk for the breakfast cereal for my son and seemed surprised that you would put cold milk in cereal. It was barely 9 am and the egg tray had part of 1 egg left and some scraps of bacon (I think). I would consider it a pretty minimum breakfast, but it was free and did the job.

Breakfast included was very good. Clean, central.

The walls are really thin and you could hear everything from the hallway and people talking in the next room.

- they gave us a room with extendable sofa (for my kid)- very nice and cozy and worm- relaxing spa, every guest has a 1 hour free access (functional jacuzzi, sauna and salt room)- free robes in the room for the spa- modern bathroom with led mirror- nice restaurant- free parking- the hotel is a combination of old and modern

Jacuzzi in spa was dirty

Friendly personnel. We got an hour of salina treatment and jacuzzi for free.

Great location, near the park and the center. Clean, Quiet. Has restaurant with very good food. Accepts pets which is a very big plus for a hotel. Felt great. Will definitely return. Had no air conditioning, but it wasn't an issue. Though in the summer it may be different.

Restaurant staff was a bid clumsy in my opinion. Forgot to bring stuff or delayed the order a lot. Nothing serious. Given the fact that the food is very good it is worth closing your eyes on little stuff like this, but overall I thought the service can be improved.

Nice style hotel.Big suite, well furnished in royal style.

The bathroom is small, you hit the shower with your legs while sitting on toilet, and there is no room to place your toiletries. Towels are expired.Balcony access is forbidden, pending renovation.

The positioning in the town center, clean-ish room, comfortable bed

The fact that we booked a double person room and we were gave a double room part of an apartament. (See photo attached). Basically next door someone was accommodated and we could hear every single word they were talking.

Excellent breakfast and the location is right in the hearth of the city.

Nothing to complain about, except that, at least for me, a big mirror into the hotel room, would have been a plus.
