Alpha Gay Resort & Spa - Men Only

We stayed at this hotel to connect with other gay travelers, but in hindsight, we wish we would have stayed at a nice beach resort and bought a day pass. The pool was opaque green for the first couple of days, and management said it was okay to swim in…no way did that seem like a good idea. The hosts seemed distant and not very concerned about our experience. The room was very basic with no daily housekeeping. We ended up avoiding the hotel as much as possible. The walk to the beach is about 10 minutes along busy streets. On the plus side, though small, it has the cleanest darkroom/steam room I have ever seen.

The dark room and other spaces that you can't find anywhere else in all of Koh samuai! This is such a beautiful property. I absolutely loved the space, landscaping, the room, the pool, and the amenities. The owner was so kind and went out of his way to help and include me. There's lots of fun and exclusive activities for the guests staying there.

Great people, very chill vibe with a wonderful pool and facilities. Room was very comfortable. Really enjoyed lounging by pool, playing games, making friends… Watch out for the long islands, they’ll sneak up on you.

Great staff and easy communication via WhatsApp messages for anything that you need during your stay, love that I could order breakfast to my room after a late night out via a simple message. Great location within walking distance to the main areas in Chaweng. The Friday pool party was a fun experience and love that Jun organises a pub crawl in the evening to visit the main LGBT businesses in the area, definitely a fun night even for a solo traveler.

The only slight downside was there’s a local half moon party nearby until early morning and the noise affected my sleep a little on both Friday & Saturday nights.

Such a clean room and faciltys. Staff friendly

Very friendly and attentive staff. The general manager was super helpful in all my needs and recommended a lot of parties that were happening!

The only downside to such a nice place, is the gym facilities. The owners need to spend some money to upgrade the equipment and make the gym a bit nicer. Some people do want to exercise whilst on holidays.

Great location. Jun really helpful and is fun to be around. Val is great too. I had so much fun here.

The possibility to have clothing optional around the pool area, one of the few in all Thailand, excellent.

Bar is good although if you go take a stone with you as you're more likely to get blood from it than getting a drink from the barman who is too consumed about looking at porn on the internet than customer service. Oh, and completely forgetting about any form of conversation, you will be ignored.

I liked the location,the pool!

I didn’t find the hosts particularly enthusiastic or helpful.They spent most of their time on their electronics neglecting the needs of their guests. They played the same horrible music everyday for the entire month I spent there. Hot water was a problem.Had to ask for it. JUN was the better host. Way too much smoking. I am a non smoker and felt very uncomfortable most of the time.

Place need some updating. Very basic facilities, room need little more cleaning from old stains around. For money they charge for room the value is poor.

I was actually staying at another hostel in town when I met Jun and some of the guests out and about and they convinced me to move here instead. A very fun and friendly party atmosphere.

There construction was in its final days so I did not get to see the newly renovated areas. The location could be a bit of a walk from the city's bars and clubs etc (about a ~20 Min walk) but the staff organized frequent nights out and taxis are cheap and common. The out of the way location may even be considered a plus for some clothing optional enthusiasts in particular, it's quite secluded.

Nothing as I was so irritated as I arrived!!

The staffs attitude, my room smelt of acrid damp and I could hardly breathe, I requested another room and that to was in the same condition. Everything smelt like it had been locked up for years. I requested a capachino in my room and was brought a cup of boiling water. To make my own with a Nescafé sachet. Appalling.In the end I had to move to another hotel as I was not going to sleep in a room that would possibly make me Ill.I travel a lot. And as a gay man Traveling i expect a certain standard to be attained.This place certainly needs to up its game. Coronavirus is over. Stop blaming it on that.A very unsatisfactory experience!

Very nice resort. Amazing staff especially Juan who was very attentive from start to finish. Who helped my partner plan a birthday surprise for me. Facilities where great, plunge pool and red room great additions to the resort. Hopefully once the dorm room is complete it will attract a younger crowd to the hotel. Great stay would definitely return in the future.

Jun is the true gem of this resort and he is always ahead of the game, sorting transportation, arranging checkin according to your arriving time. He really masters the customer expectations. We hope to come back very soon. Alpha is an institution in Samui and it feels like family every time we return. Thank you

Prices for drinks at the pool bar went up, more than average due to the extra features recently added. This can be ok for non resident guests, but for those staying at the resort it is a bit much. 2 for 1 for residents would still allow a great profit, but encourage guests to stay at Alpha, instead of just visiting for pool parties.
