Cartagena Royal Hotel Boutique

The rooftop restaurant is very nice. I liked that the included breakfast was not a fixed menu and you could choose any of the breakfast options. My favorite was the arepa stuffed with egg. Make sure to ask for salsa picante!Restaurant prices were very competitive with others and the drink prices were much better than anywhere else in Cartagena. Don't change a thing! Showers have good pressure and hot water. The king suite is a good choice and the bathroom has a bidet which is one of the best unadvertised features. I wish more hotels in Colombia did this. This is important in a place where the pipes are 500 years old and you can't flush toilet paper!Wifi was good for remote work. I had no problems using this as my remote office on work days and also enjoyed working on the terrace next to the hot tub. Location is really good, you're a 10 minute walk from the clock tower or Getsemani.The staff is fantastic and check in/out was very smooth. If you need groceries or snacks, there is a major supermarket across the street (Exito)

The staff was amazing! They went above and beyond for us, helping us navigate our stay before and after our cruise. They got us into our room early when we returned from the cruise and let us check out a little later when our flight was delayed. They helped us arrange all our transport as well, working with us when there were delays. The location is amazing. Right in the center and with several amazing places to eat nearby, not to mention its own restaurant food was enjoyable too! We loved our stay here.

The only thing I missed was a pool given the heat in the city and the bathroom was a little tiny and therefore challenging to maneuver in, but given how wonderful everything else was, I would stay here again even without a pool and knowing how the bathroom was.

There is no elevator, hotel door could only be opened en closed with force, shower door could not be closed and stayed open in de middle of the shower, outdated room and furniture, Neighborhood is full of hookers, people sleeping on door steps...

Everything was amazing, the staff, central area and the breakfast was super good!

Perfect location and service was outstanding! The property was clean and they were super responsive and helpful even before we arrived. The staff was very thoughtful, and lovely!

We never had hot water and there seemed to be a shortage of hand towels and no washcloths available. They mentioned that the hot water heater was being fixed on the first day but we never received an update or hot water.

The hotel made me feel like a teenager! The sites, people, vibe and festivities was wonderful

What I did not like was being treated like a teenager. Not having the freedom to have a guess even with a reservation for 2. Then there was a misunderstanding with 1 staff member where I was told I could have a guess if the person was registered. Once registered person ID, copied and was told everything was fine. I get knock on door at 3am saying person had to leave because he made a mistake and couldn't add the person to the system. So my guess was forced out of hotel at 4 am... Horrible experience will never come back! Total miscommunication. They have a stipulation that says we have the discretion to determine if we allow you to have a guest. That needs to be clearly stipulated up front if that is the case! Not when you have already booked, paid for and traveled 3000 miles. This should be expressed "ON THE WEBSITE", in the "BOOKING HOTEL RULES". Not when you've paid, travelled and have no other option or say about it!

I like the location, friendly staff, the Wifi, excellent air conditioner ( a plus for Cartagena hot weather), intelligent room. You can control the TV, lighting, air conditioner, others things in your room by voice commands.It has Alexa installed. Very clean room.

Very well located, within the walled city and close to bars, restaurants, tourist attractions, markets and everything else you might need. Staff was very kind and helpful, breakfast was good and the room was well equipped. Shower was amazing and AC working perfectly (much needed considering the heat). We walked around even at night, and it felt safe.

It can be a bit noisy inside, depending on the other guests staying next to you. I'd say it also lacks a tiny bit of charm, but nothing that affects the stay.

Great location. Lovely terrace. Really enjoyed the fresh breakfast. Room a good size and bathroom/shower were great. Bed lovely and big and v comfortable. Staff brilliant! In particular Marcella who helped us organise moving on from cartagena! Would highly recommend!

It Was clean and the room was new and smart, the staff was super friendly and helpful.

The location was good very central, but the exact street were very noisy and busy. Also the hotel start play music in the común areas too early in the morning like 7am. The breakfast finish to early 9:30am it could be at least until 10:30am. Other than that all good.

A perfect location in easy reach of all historic attractions. A very relaxed comfortable hotel with a rooftop restaurant serving a variety of included breakfasts and a good choice of delicious food in the evening. Compliments to a great chef Jose. Marcella was extremely helpful and kind too. She made sure we had a packed breakfast to eat at the hotel or take away as we had an early morning flight.

The towels are not very absorbent and a more welcome decoration in the reception area would be nice - very bright and stark.

We took a side trip to Rosario Islands and couldn't bring our large suitcase. Cartegena Royal Hotel held our bag for 2 days and it was waiting in our room when we checked in. Breakfast is preordered from their menu with many options and everything was tasty.

We heard car horns at 4 am, but it was their Independence Day celebration weekend and it's not the hotel's fault. I don't drink tea or coffee in the morning and they didn't include water as an option, but that was a very small thing.

Staff was exceptional! They helped us plan a beach club day and had a lot of helpful recommendations. They even set up a little surprise for my husband's birthday. Great location and great breakfast as well. Overall, I highly recommend staying here when you are in Cartagena.
