    • The staff here are amazing. They went out of their way to be welcoming. They made the experience with their hospitality. The rooms are simple, but very clean. The AC works great. Iron and hairdryer were available upon request. The breakfast was simple and delicious. Very thankful for the vegetarian options everyday! Location is great and close to everything. About 12 min walk to the walled city. I felt very safe at all times as a woman traveling alone.
    • The staff kind and friendly. This is a gem of a place.roof top looking at ft filipa at night the Best.

    Cons -

    • No negatives really! Only thing is that the wifi wasn’t as strong in my room, but that could have been my device’s issue and not the hotel.
    • Unfortunately while I was there, the Getsemanj neighborhood was celebrating its days of independence and the partying was heavy - I could hear music that shook the walls until late into the night. I hardly slept but this has nothing to do with the accommodation and more about the neighborhood. I was doing a long trek the following days - otherwise I would have joined the festivities and slept in. Leo was kind enough to serve me tea to help me fall asleep.
    • Rooms don’t have hot water and they should tell before booking

This place has a lot going for it:- location is right in Getsemani and is close to all the interesting sites - Leo (the owner) and his staff are wonderful and go over and beyond to make sure your every need is met. Leo spent lots of time giving me recommendations on what I could do as I was only there for a short visit - while the rooms aren’t big, the bed is very comfortable and the AC is very welcomed; also very clean- the breakfast, while simple, is excellent

Super cute and clean little hotel run by the KINDEST couple and staff. They speak a little English. Safe area near all of Getsemani. 18 min walk across town to far side of El Centro. Wonderful breakfasts (eggs/toast/ fruit/coffee). Beer, water etc available at hotel. Cute rooftop (jacuzzi plunge pool only). Great AC in room. Housekeeping offers to come by everyday. Safe in room. I couldn’t figure out how to work it (I could have asked but didn’t) so we didn’t use it and all our items were untouched when we returned after room had been serviced. Felt very safe. Windows in the rooms only look out into interior atrium but was still cute.

    Nothing. All was great.

The best part of the property is the people! This is where you want to stay for an authentic and comfortable visit to Cartagena. It is a safe neighborhood and the premise is guarded excellently with cameras, a metal gate and 24 hour reception. The breakfast is delicious and the owners are two of the kindest people I have met in this world. I arrived with motion sickness from my flight and they worked hard to get me into a room early to lie down. Then went above and beyond by bringing me tea to my room free of charge from the kindness of their hearts. PLEASE stay here and support local business!! For the girlies- it is so cute for pics, the AC is amazing and there are big mirrors to get ready in. You simply turn a block and las fiestas are there for you. Or you turn another block and a calm Caribbean restaurants awaits you. Thank you patio Gestemani?

Everything is perfect. I have no complaints.

We loved staying at Patio de Getsemani for our first time in Cartagena! Leo and Esperanza were such lovely hosts - they stayed up late for us after we arrived from the airport quite late, they gave us lots of tips and advice, and provided a really lovely breakfast. They were so welcoming and were very friendly and warm despite our poor spanish language skills. We loved the area - very interesting and fun streets, including lots of nice cafes and restaurants, the Sunday morning local baseball game, and it felt very safe. It was a nice walk to the centre of town too. The room was also very comfortable - the aircon was a blessing given the heat and humidity, the bed very comfortable, and the shower refreshing (no hot water necessary).

My only suggestion would be to maybe move breakfast to the roof top, as maybe that would help prevent noise from travelling from the foyer to the rooms.

The staff was amazing and so helpful. Leo and Amy and Esperanza made the stay so good. The location is excellent, right on the outskirts so not as noisy but close enough to walk safely through Getsemani and the old City.and to Fort Filipe. I would definitely stay there again.

It is not a 5 star hotel and the amenities reflect that. The bathroom room was really small.

Wonderful host and a very welcoming environment, staff went above and beyond.

Jacuzzi was not available at the time but the host provided incentives for compensation

Excelente atención de Esperanza, Alba y Eimy. Las felicito por su calidez, preocupación y detalles. Volveré.

Location, and staff, rooftop view is nice

There's the heat of the ac coming to the center of the hotel, and with cartagena weather was a lot of heat, rooms were nice and the bathroom doesn't have an air vent straight to the outside is goes out through the room

    TerraceLocation

Not clean (towels and blankets were dirty!), no warm water (check out your emails since this is not stated in the description), disappointing breakfast (no buffet - just a tortilla with onions and potatoes + bread and butter), 24hrs reception is a scam (we had our taxi booked at 5am and nobody was there - all closed and we run the risk to loose our taxi)

    10CatherinePosted on: 4-26-2025

Location is ideal to be close to all the action, yet a bit further. Still noisy at times, but you know this if you choose to stay in Getsemani. The staff is amazing and so helpful. It felt like a home.

    10AntonioPosted on: 4-19-2025

The best is the staff and the owner Senor Léo.Breakfast is not a buffet style but enough delicious food prepared on time.Very clean in a key location to visit the old City and Getsemani.

Where do I begin? This property was absolutely amazing!! The staff was outstanding!! The property was spotless!! I enjoyed the breakfast in morning(fresh fruit) as well.

    I liked everything.

    10SandraPosted on: 4-2-2025

Location, the rooftop terrace and cute little jacuzzi pool for cooling off in after a hot Cartagena day, the view from the rooftop and the lovely people working there. I felt at home. The breakfast was nice and a great way to share travel experiences with other guests.

My room didn’t have a window to outside but the rooftop made up for that. And cool showers but again because of the heat it wasn’t a problem. I loved my stay and would come back again.

    8HumbertoPosted on: 3-26-2025

It’s a nice little gourmet type place with jacuzzi on the rooftop.. you have a nice bay view from the rooftop and good hardy breakfast

    10donnaPosted on: 3-19-2025

The Colonial style atmosphere of this little hotel was intimate and friendly. It was a short walk to everything in the older part of the city

There is nothing you won't like if you see looking to experience authenticity

    10ThierryPosted on: 3-18-2025

Getsemani is THE neighborhood to stay in when visiting Cartagena as a tourist. There is unfortunately the problem that the noise of the livelihood of the neighborhood can prevent you from sleeping. None of that problem here.
