GHL San Lazaro Art Hotel

The staff definitely makes this hotel ideal. They went above and beyond to accommodate whatever I needed.

I didn¿t read the fine print about having guests over but there¿s a way around most things but it is $50 a night extra for having a guest. But found out most hotels in Cartagena do this or out right don¿t allow guests to come over for safety precaution

Very clean and modern.

Everything was amazing, the welcome from the people and also the room, the view.

Location, close to the historic city on foot.

The neighborhood can be unsafe at night, warned to stay indoors and take a cab to anywhere.

Good value for money. They even allowed to checkin earlier.

It is not in the city center but okay to move around by taxi, or on foot during daylight.

Nothing to complain about

Staff were amazing and so was the breakfast! Received welcome drink! Unfortunately bc it’s so close to San Felipe Uber was not available. Taxis were limited. The location was walkable to Getsemani, which was perfect!

Shower door didn’t close. Bedding wasn’t clean there was a blood stain on the comforter!

The staff was welcoming, helpful, and always happy to help. There is always ice tea and citrus water to welcome you home after a hot Cartegena sunny day. The staff showed they care about the guest in every way. From Lilibeth and Christian in the dining room, the two Eduardos at the front desk and Ludis in housekeeping. I felt at home.

The shower could use a new grout job due to some mold build-up, but Cartegena is both hot and humid, so I know it is a challenge.

The location and views of the fort were amazing! Breakfast was delicious and staff super friendly

A little hard to find at first

The pool and breakfast buffet were very good.

Staff left our room door wide open. One worker didn’t want to give me back change on my bill when paid in cash.

Staff are excellent. Very helpful and responsive.Rooms clean with great shower, wifi and bed.

The location is a little funky. Right across from the fort which is very interesting. About a 20 minute walk to the Walled City clocktower entrance but in the Cartegena heat not an interesting walk. Mostly surrounded by beater car repair shops. It's not bad, just not great.

Location of the hotel, cleanliness of the room and positive attitude of the staff.

The Breakfast options. The food was sub-par, in my opinion, but this isn't a negative.

Everything! Location, staff is super nice, closed to the chocolate museum, and San Felipe castle. And 15 minutes walking distance from downtown and getsemani.

An excellent free breakfast, very helpful, pleasant staff, and very well situated near the "old town" of Cartagena.

The staff were pretty helpful and kind. The food was good every day. The location of this hotel is the best in Cartagena. The swimming pool was pretty beautiful with a great view of the "Castillo de San Felipe de Barajas."

To be honest, I couldn't find anything that I didn't like.

Breakfast very filling and a good mix of local vs European. Beds extremely comfortable and room had excellent air conditioning. We were given a disabled room which was very dark and had little access to natural light (though had very large shower and lots of long side rails - neither of us needed them but appreciate it is nice for disabled guests.

The lighting was very minimal, and there was no natural light in the room.

The breakfasts were great, the staff were truly fantastic. Some of the best service I have ever encountered. The location facing the old fort was lovely and the pool area facing the fort again was a really nice space. The bed was huge and very comfortable. The wifi worked very well. There's a major shoppng centre directly behind the hotel which expanded on the meal options and provided convenient shopping options. It was very easy to book a DiDi/Uber or just jump into a taxi. Could walk to old town in about 15 minutes and its a pleasant enough walk during the day providing its not too hot. Transport is so cheap though so we didn't really struggle. DO explore the old fort directly opposite, its magical. You can hit it up first thing in the morning because you're so close, the crowds are less and the temperature is more amenable.

There are not too many hang out options in and around the hotel. There are a couple of restaurants on the main street outside but they were all shut every time we felt like a nightcap. So you do have to go into the old city centre or Getsemani for any nightlife and you DO NOT want to walk it at night. The pool is a lot smaller than the photo's might have you believe. LOL!

Excellent location, good breakfast, comfortable and spacious room, nice bathroom. Friendly staff. Overall, the hotel is a very good choice for visiting and staying in Cartagena.

The common areas of the hotel, especially the carpet, create a negative impression and need to be replaced with modern flooring. Аctually, the rooms are nice and in very good condition, but not the common areas. Also, the breakfast room is small for the needs of the hotel. Perhaps an option would be to convert part of the huge terrace and add it to the breakfast area.

A bit pricy for what it is, breakfast is average, and walking at night seems a bit sketchy

Exceptional staff friendliness, spotlessly clean rooms, very comfortable beds, an excellent location (the hotel's location was ideal, within walking distance to all the major attractions), delicious breakfast options, and a positive overall experience.
