    Pros +

    • Staff was extremely attentive. Everyone knew my name. Food was excellent and property very clean.
    • The colonial era house felt like a palace, without any disturbances but quite homely and quieter than expected. There was total peace throughout.
    • Casa San Augustin is a wonderful and stylish boutique hotel, set in 17th century colonial homes. The rooms are comfy, quiet and relaxing, with wooden beams and stonework, spacious bathrooms, great AC (a must). If you can splurge, I highly recommend booking the Premium Suite with garden and jacuzzi (with one caveat - see downsides), perfect to cool off from the Colombian heat; the shared pool is also a bit on the small side. The hotel is ideally located at the heart of the walled city of Cartagena. We explored many restaurants from there (I recommend Uma Cantina and Carmen for the foodies and Tacos del Gordo for a more “hole in the wall” experience). Alma – the hotel’s restaurant – also serves delicious a la carte breakfast and Colombian dishes for lunch and dinner. The staff is very professional and charming. Overall, a great pick in a city with many options.

    Cons -

    • A bit pricey.
    • No complaints
    • The garden and jacuzzi in the Premium Suite are directly under the windows of several other rooms on the upper floors. This affects the general privacy, and the management could maybe rearrange the plants to remediate. We reported a couple of times that the water in the shower never got hot (it did in the sink) but rather stayed lukewarm even after running for a while, but this was never addressed.

The staff's approach.: Cindy from Concierge and Danny from Food & Beverage were top of the line. Amazing customer service.

Very friendly and professional staff; excellent central location

No early check-in available; no sunlight at pool; Alma restaurant good but not great

A charming colonial house in the middle of bustling old Cartagena town that feels like an oasis. Small, cosy and luxurious with understatement. Many colonial and Colombian details reminiscent of Cartagena’s past. An attentive and competent staff.

David is the best concierge in the entire world! He was able to find us a car rental when there were no cars available. He found restaurant reservations for restaurants that are impossible to get into! Truly a magician! We loved our stay in Cartagena because of David!

Everything- the food, creative drinks, helpful concierge for dinner recommendations, the beauty of the property

There is nothing that I did not like about this property. The staff was exceptional, and their goal was to make sure that each and every guest had a wonderful stay and they surpassed this.

Hotel was small and beautiful. Breakfast was delicious and included. Staff was exceptional. Because it was small we felt we met everyone staying at the hotel. The rooms are very dark and our keys did not work at all so we had to keep schanhing them. Recommend the hotel highly

    More lighting in the rooms

Excellent location, walked everywhere. Excellent staff - they helped with tours and dinner reservations prior to going to their hotel. Excellent restaurant, pool and spa. Gorgeous hotel - instagram worthy everywhere!

The Acasi private beach was just ok. The ocean floor is full of seaweed instead of sand. The boat ride was fantastic though and the served food was excellent.

The breakfast was outstanding. The service at every level was fantastic. Edgar, Daynair and Jaimie especially. The hotel itself is beautiful and very well maintained.

    10GaëllePosted on: 8-26-2024

Paola, Katherine, and Edgar looked after me like I was family. I had forgotten my shoes in the room and they were able to realize and return them to me before I completed check-out. The hotel was more beautiful than pictured, the spa was exquisite, and the rooms was quite intimate and romantic. Wonderful place to stay.

Location was spectacular and staff was very friendly. The ancient architecture was quite lovely and it felt very authentic. We enjoyed the spanish architecture.

Our room was nice but not as big or as luxe as we had hoped. The stone floors in the bathroom were not as comfortable and we hoped for more light in our room. Also, given that it was our 30 yr anniversary, the hotel did not do anything special for us and all the hotels we stayed in all over South America were much more gracious, even it meant a small dessert, flowers or chocolates in the room.

Historical house, comfortable bed, big bathroom

Noise in the street, breakfast and restaurant was not great

    10MichellePosted on: 5-9-2024

Breakfast was amazing, there were so many options and the foold was excellent. We were even treated to mimosas!

    Loved everything!

Beautiful, staff accommodation. Linens luxurious. Had dinner and breakfast at the restaurant onsite. Delicious!!

Loved everything! Great bar, decor beautiful. The staff were friendly, very knowledgeable.

Very charming and historic property with beautiful plants and several courtyards. Breakfast in the courtyard with a good selection of ala carte options and a mimosa on the house - great way to start your day here. The front desk team is super- esp. Paola and Esteban. They will be in touch via WhatsApp before you arrive - to ensure your arrival is smooth. They were responsive to our dismay with the first room (see comments below) and helped move us to a wonderful room #201 which was so quiet, facing the inner courtyard, and had a kitchenette and separate living and dining room. The Aurum Spa is excellent and the pool - though tiny, provides a nice relief in this sweltering time of the year. Love the Ortigia Sicilia bath amenities.

The first room #209 was noisy because of its proximity to the live music from Alma restaurant, and facing a busy street where a shop's alarm set off and rang for an hour at 10pm... Not a great start to a jet lagged evening. This hotel is a combination of three colonial houses with different levels, layout etc- so there are lots of steps up and down to get around - definitely not for those who are in a wheelchair or mobility issues.

Recently stayed at this elegant hotel and had a wonderful experience! The ambiance was nice, and the staff was incredibly friendly. We truly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a comfortable and pleasant stay.

We were disappointed with the service at the restaurant during dinner. On the other hand, the service during breakfast was wonderful.
