    Cons -

    • Unfortunate incident of racial bias: I wanted to show a couple of friends where I was staying one of who was black. When we entered we were stopped and told no visitors although others we coming in unquestioned.
    • The check in progress was horrible to say the least. It took me damn near 30 min to check in
    • The AC unit in the hotel was not the best. I run hot at night so it was difficult to sleep very comfortably

The hotel and staff were amazing. If we needed anything the staff were right there to help us out. Truly enjoyed our stay.

The only thing was that it was a bit far from the walled city.

Beautiful campus. Excellent facilities. Wonderful staff. Truly a world class hotel experience.

There are other boutique hotels that will give a more intimate flavor but this hotel was truly fantastic. No complaints.

Room service personnel were consistently excellent and prompt. Keep up the good work.Housekeeping was excellent.Front door men and bell hops were very good. They took time to explain to me that I couldn't exit the building without approval from the front desk staff.

The dark hallways were as creepy as could be. Of the restaurant staff, half of the workers were pleasant, the other half responded as if I was inconveniening them. I had to consistently chase waiters to serve coffee in the mornings. The food was consistently awful. There were no arepas, although they were on the menu. The front desk staff were not that friendly or happy to see me. They withheld information, such as requesting credit card for incidentals at check-in. Had to go back and take additional time to give a credit card after realizing that this was the case. The tourism agent did not know her tour packages, and either misinformed us or lied about the inclusiveness of a snorkeling trip within the tour we purchased. The notion of getting a piece of paper approving my exit made me feel like I was in jail.Your prices are similar to pricing from higher end hotels, and that in and of itself is deceptive. Your hotel is old and in decay. It is in need of so much maintenance, its probably cheaper to close it down. You've probably discerned by now that I won't be returning to this hotel. Good luck.

Beautiful pool, nice breakfast and staff, good location . Lovely gardens and wildlife

I wouldn’t upgrade to ocean view. Way more expensive and not worth it. Garden view rooms were just as nice and much less. Older hotel in many buildings, poor wielding and lighting

We were excited to stay at this hotel with all the reviews citing the old world charm and the in-house wildlife including the deer, toucans and macaws and parrots. We never saw the sloth which other reviewers reported. For our 5 night stay we journeyed once and even twice a day into town by $20,000 COP cab to get to the amazing sites, restaurants, music, dancing and shopping you can enjoy there. The antique elevator at the hotel requires an operator. And I will say the elevator operators and the staff at the front that assists with drivers were excellent. There were plenty of luggage stands. We strongly disliked not having a terrace to enjoy the fresh air. I don’t think any of the non-suite rooms have that. The complementary coffee in the morning was placed in a remote location without milk or napkins or lids and was not looked after for tidiness or replenished. I expect a hotel that pretends to be 4 or 5 stars to get this stuff right. The lobby is a mis-matched hodge-podge of furniture and the lobby bar is for private club use only. I usually love to enjoy the lobby bar at a hotel but I was sharply instructed that it was not for me! It was creepy how paintings were missing from the walls but you could see the hooks where they used to be. The hotel shops were uninviting and the dismal displays seemed perfunctory at best. The breakfast that was included in our plan was miserable. The first day as we scrambled to find a seat in the restaurant with no assistance, we sorted through the sad looking food. On the second day we discovered the outdoor dining area and learned how to get the cook to make us a fresh omelette with lots of smiling and patience. Forget about a fresh espresso coffee. That was impossible. There is fresh fruit and other chafing dishes of only passable hot items and low quality breads. Juices were plentiful and the outdoor seating is pleasant once you figure out that that is an option.

The worst part for us was the dated and dirty rooms, the below average food, the indifferent service and the distance to Old Town where all the action is. Shortfalls were mold and mildew in the bedrooms and showers, outlets by the bed were minimal or absent, the bell staff spent most time pointing out that the mini bar was here with an extra charge rather than informing us of resort amenities. Again you have to figure this place out because they don’t explain much when you check in or provide a printed guest overview. I like to take a lap swim early in the morning before the pool gets crowded. The pool cleaner was cleaning the pool way past 8:30am making that impossible. Why don’t they clean the pool at night or at 7am? I only discovered the smaller but more private pool on our 3rd day. The so-called beach club is empty and unappealing. This is a city beach open to the public with garbage in the surf, so adjust your expectations before you arrive. This hotel needs a serious remodel. The bones are good but the signs of wear over the years of use are evident everywhere your turn.

The property was nice. The pictures look a lot more modern than they really are. The animals in the hotel were nice to see, although they mostly look scared, even if they are well taken care off. The staff were mostly kind, but they reacted annoyed when asked for something. Not great service overall.

The pool area smelled like pee. It was annoying to be bother by sales persons outside the hotel, but they were trying to sell things even inside, it was hard to relax when being approached by them all the time. All kinds of service were super slow, when in line for check in/check out or asking for service in the restaurant. The buffet didn’t have someone assigning tables, so sometimes have more people than tables available, so you had to wait with your food in had to be seated.

Very traditional hotel located in the Bocagrande/Laguito area, walking distance to many restaurants and city life. The private beach area was great although it could use some restoration to the cabanas. The room was very nice and modern, the staff were friendly and attentive.

There was no hot water in the shower, lukewarm at best. Breakfast buffet was just OK.
