Pros +
- The location is fabulous. The staff very warm and helpful.
- It is a nice resort, very clean and the rooms (we stayed at the tree house) were very comfortable. We snorkelled several times from the shore and always saw 3 to 4 turtles. The fire show on Saturday was amazing and dinner was very nice.
- The Overwater Fales were gorgeous. The atmosphere was very relaxed. All the staff were wonderful, friendly and helpful. The ocean and the views were out of this world. Felt like I was in paradise.
Cons -
- IMHO, Lacks proper maintenance and tlc. Food is just ok.
- They charged us an extra person for a 16 month old baby, but they didn't give her the complementary breakfast so I don't understand why we were charged but never received the attention that a regular guest usually receives. The lunch menu could be improved, everything they are offering is fast food and some of the options we tried (pasta salad) were really not good. The Spa was simply okay, I don't recommend the pedicure it is not worthy to pay for it.
- This minor - but the fridge in the room could do with an upgrade.

Beautiful location and very comfortable beds.
The resort was a little run down. Meals at the restaurant were overpriced and staff members not overly helpful.
Amazing location, really friendly and helpful staff. Food was good and lots of options. We got to see the turtles.
Found it very expensive.
The staff at this resort were excellent, with the exception of Brian (see more below); staff were courteous, helpful, eager to help, and lovely. We stayed in a fale over the water, which was fabulous as an experience. We found the resort food edible and pleasant, with a setting that made for an even better experience for dinner and other meals. Julie and the reception staff were amazing and helpful; they deserve a special mention, as do many of the staff in the restaurant for whom nothing was too much effort.
Brian, who manages the hotel, is perhaps the rudest, most unpleasant person I have met in hospitality. We are well travelled and have never met someone so unsuited to guest contact. Brian’s tantrum when we refused to move rooms, after moving rooms already because of a broken aircon, is beyond words. We spent the first night (of five nights) without aircon in heat so stifling that we lay sweating all night. Julie, who was helpful and endeavoured to sort this out, arranged a different room for us (thanks Julie), but Brian was unhappy with this and asked us to move out of the room, on New Year’s Day no less. When I refused to move again, he tantrumed and huffed in a manner reminiscent of a child not getting their own way. He also, upon check in, suggested we carry rocks and a stick to beat village dogs when we go for a walk, which left us aghast at such brazen suggestions of cruelty (we are both vegetarian and animal lovers). On our last night, a rather large rat kept us awake as it rustled through the rubbish bins in the room. Several attempts to usher the rat out at 1am and 2am and 3am proved unsuccessful. Some closer and thorough cleaning of rooms is needed; we found plasters on the floor of the room, along with other random bits of rubbish that had not been picked up by the cleaners prior to us occupying the room.
Beautiful location gorgeous room
No pool bar ,restaurant food average, breakfast fruit or juice (not both)and toast, water sports facilities virtually non existent ,Dino floor? Broken
Traditional spin on Samoan life
It’s getting a little tired, needs some tlc to the propertyMenu needs a bit of a jigMusic seriously needs a tune up
Staff, location, excellent food, beach, watching turtles
Loved our stay but some of the resort was looking a bit tired.
We enjoyed the location, white sandy beach great view from our room. The fia fia night was so lovely, experience of making a umu was fun & eating it was a highlight. The staff were amazing and hard working! I think they are the glue that is keeping coconut beach club resort and spa going! Beach equipment that was made available for the kids to use was good. Location paradise for sure!!!
The day we arrived it was pouring. Our fale was leaking I had to use our beach towels for the floor! When we got into bed we found sand in between the sheets. The main pool needed cleaning it was full of sand. The complementary breakfast was confusing as well. The photos makes this resort look amazing but don't be fooled! It is way over priced for what we expected when we got there. This resort is in need of some good TLC
The beauty spa is the best facility there, and the Fia Fia night was a great performance. The Samoan staff are beautiful. Food purchased there was great.
Biggest disappointment I’ve ever had in 49 years! . Incredibly overpriced. The rooms are very dated and in need of makeovers. The roof was leaking. There were big spiders inside. I thought it was sand covering every surface including the bed - which it probably was as well, - but on the last day I discovered it was piles of bora wood. The shower was like a bad waterfall. There were sticky flies everywhere and nothing helpful to combat them. The complimentary breakfast was incredibly stingy! Parts of the ceiling were a very stained and dirty plastic. The complimentary tea and coffee is not at all appealing. The worst bit was the beds. On the single bed there was blood on the mattress protector and the main bed was made up with a dirty old mattress and an even dirtier old crumbly foam. I can’t believe Brian gets away with operating this and charging so much. He doesn’t trust his staff which is obvious but they are one of his only assets. He doesn’t provide them with a uniform either. We asked them why they were all wearing different clothing. They said they constantly get feedback about how poorly run it is and so overpriced but nothing ever happens. This is a case of a money hungry American ruining a resort with incredibly bad management.
The Beaches are very nice, with the on-site pool being also right at the beach.
Coconut Beach Resort is a 70s style resort, that requires large scale updating and proper maintenance. Cleanliness and especially the very dated decor and non human friendly design needs to be mentioned. Sharp edges, non user friendly bath tubs (slip and fall risk), difficult to use facilities.Resort staff in civil attire hanging out in rooms, hanging out on balconies, chatting loudly, smoking, and being disrespectful to customers. I haven't seen staff working a lot - it felt like a local employment program for the villagers. The behavior of the (especially male) Resort stuff is an absolute NO NO in the tourist industry. The owner is a constant presence and obviously living on-site, which takes away from the holiday feeling. The Restaurant food is very average and of low quality - the Oki was chewy and not even presentable. Portion sizes are very petty and this is even for a Resort in a 3rd world country embarrassing. The term "complimentary" gets used regularly for things like Breakfast and Wi-Fi, even though the accommodation was booked and sold with Breakfast and Wi-Fi included - this is false advertisement!!
This resort has obviously been very lovely, but due to lack of maintenance and upkeep is rotting away! The food in the restaurant was good.
Generally we were incredibly disappointed. We paid over $500 per night for what we thought would be a lovely indulgence. What a shock!!The general shabbiness of furniture was the initial impression, then came further shocks - shower dribbled out of the wall, bed was large but uncomfortable, breakfast provided was a piece of toast and fruit, NO internet anywhere except very expensive PAYG. There was very little to do. All the resort activities eg Fia Fia night, movie night were not on due to broken equipment or something else.Do not waste your money going there!
Could t ask for a more beautiful spot and the grounds and traditional style rooms and facilities really make it an amazing resort to stay!
Nothing to say here.
Great welcome with complementary drinks, beautiful grounds, proximity to the beach. Location near other resorts was nice as it gave us lots of options for evening meals.
Some of the facilities were closed e.g. pool bar. Breakfast was subpar. No indoor entertainment - would have been nice to have a covered are with a pool table/table tennis etc as some days the weather wasn't great.
Location, staff
The continental breakfast. For what you pay for your accommodation breakfast is pretty poor compared to other resorts
The breakfast included was delicious with fresh fruit every morning and a choice of cereal, toast, or croissant. The location is amazing on a beautiful white sand beach within a sheltered lagoon. The tree house rooms are spacious and loved being surrounded by trees and looking out over the pond when it rained, it made even the bad weather enjoyable! The staff were amazing. All very friendly and helpful. The cultural experience and fiafia night was the cherry on top of a great, relaxing week away. Also make sure you go for a walk in the village. It was great to see real life and the locals were all friendly.
The beds, while comfortable, are on the firm side. Just something to be aware of. Apart from that no real complaints.
Location staff
The beds were uncomfortable The pool bar wasn’t open
The location was idyllic. Our room was extremely comfortable with large opening doors and picture postcard views. It had air conditioning but we didn’t need it as we threw open the doors and made the most of the sea breezes. We spent hours on the deck watching the sea turtles grazing on the lagoon floor, the waves breaking on the reef, stunning sunsets and incredibly clear, starry nights. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The local fresh fruit served while we waited for our breakfast, was a great way to start each day. We thoroughly enjoyed the Fia Fia night - each of the talented performers, young and old, delivered with such passion. We were entranced. This was our first time in Samoa but, definitely, won’t be our last. We were able to relax, rest and recharge fully. We will be back to Coconuts!
We only wished we had stayed longer!
Amazing location, great food at the restaurant, free water sports equipment
The tour was fully booked when we stayed, so we had to book a taxi privately
