- welcoming friendly staff, lovely private location
- A beautiful setting and very helpful staff.
Cons -
- The food tended to get a bit monotonous after a few days. It's also quite expensive. But this didn't really detract from an otherwise wonderful stay. Thank you!
- Food can improve. It is not very bad or anything, but it is super mediocre and very expensive. They also don’t open the coconut. The hot water runs out. You cannot fill the bathtub.
- One of the meals at night was not up to standard the service was exceptionally good and we were refunded for the meal that was unsatisfactory .

welcoming friendly staff, lovely private location
A beautiful setting and very helpful staff.
Beautiful room. Resturant was incredible. Excellent spa services. We will keep going back
I loved that it had a beach you can swim in. No crocodiles. And the rooms were nice. Something about water made my hair super healthy and shine.

The location was fabulous ,views spectacular ,Excellent Service from staff who promptly attended to our requests for transport and room service .

Location to the beach.
Hearing neighbours when they were just speaking normally. We had expected more of a retreat experience.
Beautiful surroundings lush & tropical great views from the restaurant .Great food too
Access is not easy for anyone with mobility issues, steps made from uneven rocks really should have a hand rail. My husband struggled with them fortunately the putters were very helpful
Amazing rainforest setting, beautiful natural rock pool style pools, stunning views, delicious food, charming friendly staff and well appointed rooms.
The views were magnificent. Swimming pool was lovely. You are in a rain forest and you do need a car.
Thala Beach is a gorgeous property—the bar, restaurant, and main pool are especially well situated. The bungalow was spacious and well laid out. The porters were incredibly helpful and kind—our bungalow had steep, uneven stairs and we had heavy bags! All of the staff we encountered were extremely helpful and thoughtful.
These are minor points — but a few things did annoy me. This is a 5 star property, but the hair dryer is tethered to the bathroom wall just as in any cheap motel. It’s a terrible dryer, too, and the cord is so short that it’s awkward and uncomfortable to use. And supposedly this is an eco lodge, but they’re still using plastic mini bottles of shampoo, conditioner, etc rather than large refillable containers. Finally, the bed, while comfortable, was weirdly unstable. Any time we moved around, even slightly, the mattress would undulate so much that we were constantly waking each other up. I did not sleep particularly well while staying here.
Beautiful view from our room. Great pool. Really good staff. Very beautiful grounds
Many uneven steps with no hand rails.
We absolutely loved the private nature reserve, the walking trails, and the abundance of wildlife. The complementary guided tours and activities were a highlight, and the staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and truly added to the experience. It was a calm and relaxing vacation with plenty of space to ourselves. The swimming pools and private beach were stunning, offering a peaceful retreat amidst the jungle. We also appreciated the reusable bottles provided in the room, which helped avoid unnecessary plastic waste, as well as the ceiling fans in both room and bathroom.
The main issue is how this resort is positioned as a 5-star luxury property- in my opinion it’s not. The cabins are basic and outdated, and the bathrooms are in need of refurbishment. Essential amenities like a coffee machine, a safe, and slippers were noticeably missing.Service was another weak point. Rooms are only serviced every other day under the guise of being “eco-friendly,” but basic tasks like taking out the trash and making the bed daily shouldn’t compromise sustainability. During our 6-night stay, the sheets weren’t replaced even once, despite the hot, humid environment. Laundry facilities were nonexistent, both for guests and as a service offered by the resort - something you’d expect at a property of this caliber.Breakfast was limited to an à la carte menu, which was pricey and lacked vegan options apart from fruit. That said, the oat milk cappuccino was excellent. While the pools and private beach were beautiful, they could use more upkeep. Jungle conditions are no excuse for unclean loungers. Despite the above criticism, this resort is a paradise for nature lovers, offering unmatched wildlife experiences in a private reserve. While it’s not truly a 5-star luxury property, the unique setting and activities make it a worthwhile stay.
Amazing location. Gorgeous cabin, so peaceful and tranquil Loved the rock pool. Staff so happy and friendly.
The grounds were gorgeous, and the staff was outstanding
There were lots of uneven paths and our bungalow was not close to the main property
Nice to encounter nature right outside your door! The pool was a highlight, really unique.
It would’ve been ideal to have a kitchenette in the room.
The exclusivity and private bungalow per guest was very nicely laid out. With golf buggy’s available to take you around the property 24/7. Along with the beds in the rooms are so comfy, and to wake up to the birdlife is such a nice way to start your days. Really wish my partner and I had’ve booked longer to make the most of the whole Port Douglas area with so many tours/experiences & day trips on offer.
Bungalow facilities & amenities are not the greatest given the price you’re paying to stay (no bathroom fan, shower really struggled to be anything other than hot or ice cold water and nothing inbetween. No bathroom air freshener or hand soap left in bathroom. Zero space in bar fridge to put your own items etc. TV is tiny and not in the eye line of the bed or furniture (seems to be more decorative than functional). Seems to be very minimal in the rooms for a place that tries to keep guests on property for majority of their time, but could invest more into the guests rooms. In saying that, I believe the rooms were still satisfactory and didn’t take away from the experience at all.
Beautiful lodges and property is outstanding location for nature lovers amongst the trees and amazing beaches and views
The reserve is beautiful and well kept. Staff was always nice and helpful.
Bungalows are tired and quite pricey for what is provided.
A blissful escape. The food at the Osprey restaurant was delicious. Lovely walks to both Thala Beach and Pebbly Beach (more protected from the wind). Excellent beds and fantastic pillows!!
