Pros +
- The pool. The Italian chefs in the restaurant were great!
- The hotel features a great pool/pool bar area surrounded by beautifully maintained plantations. Guests should note that there are no elevators available to access higher floors, so the staff is readily available to assist with handling luggage to the rooms.
- Swimming pool only
Cons -
- Confused reception desk
- During our recent stay, we encountered several challenges with the check-in process and the uniformity of the accommodations. Initially, the keys to our assigned rooms did not work. After a series of room changes, we were given another room, but it had issues with leaking air conditioning. Ultimately, we were moved again to a different room, which was quite exhausting. We noticed that despite all the rooms being priced similarly, the facilities and amenities varied significantly, which was disappointing. We had hoped for more consistency in our experience. Additionally, the breakfast offerings were quite limited and repetitive. In comparison to other hotels we have visited, where chefs typically provide a variety of options to enhance the menu, this hotel did not offer the same level of diversity. Overall, these factors impacted our ability to relax during our stay.
- We had a very bad experience from beginning to end at the Oaks 4* Resort Port Douglas. The problems started before we even arrived. We had booked a shuttle bus four months in advance, yet when we landed at the airport there was no shuttle waiting for us. After calling the resort, we were told it would arrive in an hour. We couldn’t wait that long, so we ordered an Uber — and despite not using the shuttle, we received no refund. When we arrived, things only got worse. The restaurant wasn’t open, and the only food option available was pizza, which had to be ordered through reception. We waited 45 minutes, only to find out the restaurant never received our order. We had to go back to reception and order again, and still received no apology. The service at reception was consistently unfriendly and unprofessional. We were then given room keys that didn’t work, which meant yet another trip back to reception. The room itself was far below the standard expected of a 4-star resort. Although they claimed housekeeping was daily, the beds were only changed once a week. Housekeeping only replaced towels — and one of them was dirty. The room had dirty doors, dust on the lamps, and even a cockroach in the bathroom. Photo's attached after housekeeping Noise levels were terrible. Our room had an interconnecting door, and we could clearly hear our neighbour — including a woman screaming and having loud conversations. From upstairs, we constantly heard heavy footsteps. Sleeping was nearly impossible.Because of all these issues, we decided to leave 4 days earlier, but the resort still refused to offer any refund despite the poor service and unacceptable conditions. To make matters worse, the resort does not have gym facilities, which is surprising for a place marketed as a 4-star resort. The only positive thing I can say is that the swimming pool was nice. The location is also very far from everything, which added even more inconvenience.Wouldn't recommend to anyone!

The paid shuttle service within the city and to and from airport was excellent.
Few bugs came into my room which they could not take care of. Also, there was nothing around the place. we had use the shuttle for everything.
Friendly staff, lovely grounds, easy access from carpark, and decent value for money. Loved how easy the check in process was even when having booked last minute. Would stay again.
Bathroom door handle was falling off and shower door was difficult to close. Bed was too soft for my preference but my partner loved it and slept really well
The pool was fantastic, and the Zumba classes were great. I really appreciated how well connected and close the hotel was to the main Port Douglas CBD. The apartment was very clean, with no mosquitoes or ants. Overall, the service was excellent.
lovely rooms friendly efficient staff comfy bed 2 tvs large rooms
grounds were messy branches and debris over paths, breakfast overrated had to pay extra for coffee, already paid for but they wanted to charge 10 extra then demanded sunday surcharge.they should have local exotic fruits.in bathroom the shampoo etc containersk ept falling off the wall
Great staff excellent value breakfast , nice pool, excellent garden and grounds. Nice open reception with tranquil water feature. Nice room on the 3rd floor overlooking pool.
No elevator.
LocationGood ParkingNo stairs ramp excellentStaff friendly
Beds sunk in middle need replacingDrainage in Bathroom not goodShower rose very weakPool too warm needs to be more refreshingPool lounges all need to be the black ones get rid of the hard white ones, also need umbrellas.Restaurant/ Bistro food averageNot much offered from front desk on touristy ideas and no mention of shuttle bus in and out of town.
Pool was fantastic with plenty of room to enjoy a swim or just relax in the Spa, swim up bar was a bonus, we had a view from our room to the pool and being on the bottom floor we had easy access, there was plenty of Lounges to relax on and enjoy the beautiful surrounds and the perfect weather.
Everything about the Oaks Resort was fantastic not one thing to complain about.
We loved the pool!!
We stayed in room 3005 and it smelled so badly of mold and damp. We would have liked to open the sliding doors to allow for fresh air but there are no fly screens. The bathroom floor and towels never dried due to lack of air circulation, despite having the fans and air con on. My suggestion is to install fly screens so that fresh air can be circulated to allow for the damp to dry and the smell to leave. The porta-cot mattress was so hard - we had to add two folded blankets to make it possible for our toddler to sleep on it. Every time our room was serviced, they didn't supply enough towels - there were 3 people staying in the room and they only left two bath towels every time, instead of 3. It was very frustrating. We also had to specifically request more toilet paper, more dishwashing detergent and more laundry powder, as these items were never replaced. The floor was never swept and there was no broom supplied in the room - we had to ask for this so that we could sweep the floor ourselves. We were staying for 7 nights - therefore it is important to clean the floor or provide a broom for guests to clean it themselves. We found the restaurant dinner menu expensive and of poor quality. The breakfast buffet was lovely though.
The pool was great, very wide and spacious. The room is very spacious. We did not have breakfast there.
We have a baby - mentioned to the staff and were allocated to a room on the second floor - which means going up and down with a pram.
Came back after honeymoon visit many years ago so good to see again. We didn't have breakfast at the venue. We received follow up care after the room wasn't ready on arrival- fruit platter and wine and call from the manager (via reception staff) the next day.
The place is tired and very basic in terms of furniture and room styling. The pool is shallow and mostly suited to young children. Our room wasn't ready at 3pm and the staff simply said- I can't do anything- I'll ring you when it is ready. Gave us another room but walked in on a man resting on the couch. Whilst there were efforts to make up for our first impressions I would not stay here again.
The lighting was dimA few cushions on the couch would have made them comfortableKitchen equipment was bare minimal - a large bowl would have been helpfulAn apartment with good size could have been so much better with more care for comfort and ambience
Check in with Rhiann at the front desk was a delight in her welcome and assistance. Lovely sitting on the balcony overlooking the pool (but see comments about the room itself).
Shabby room without character. The warning sign was the peeling paint on the door, followed by the stained and worn carpet in the featureless room. The furniture was chipped. The only room I have ever stayed in - that I recall - that had no decoration of any type on the wall. A loud exhaust fan ran in the bathroom: there was no way to turn it off, but we discovered it was on a timer set to turn off at 9 pm, and turn on at 7 am. The 7 am fan was a Sunday morning wake up call that we could have done without. We found the responsiveness to issues that we raised to be mixed: Rhiann was hospitable and empathetic; Gini, the front desk manager, not so much.
Great location, helpful staff at check in/out
The room and linen were clean, but bed linen stained. Great room and spacious though
The accommodation was great, as well as the lagoon pool & bar. Staff were all super friendly and polite.
Reception staff were friendly and helpful.Beautiful location and facilities. Very clean and asthletically pleasing to the eye. Decent stay price. Food was fresh and tasty. Swim up bar and comfortable sun loungers. Beautiful tiered pool.Enterering reception was warm and welcoming and beautiful to walk into. We very much enjoyed our stay and would recommend. Close to everything you need including adventures and activities.
No phone in the room to call reception. No check in to see if we needed any amenities. Not being able to order room service due to app issues.
One bedroom apartment was well furnished and looked fresh.
Older carpet in room
Rooms had been updated/refreshed which was great, linen and beds were extremely comfy ... apartment was lovely and clean with all the amenities that you require for a great stay.-
Apartments could do with some furnishings/comforts eg styling pillows, artwork .... also, doors to balconies need fly wires, would be great to leave the doors open and let some fresh air in ... but couldn't due to mozzies and midgesBreakfast was 'basic', and lacking taste ... a bit of a let down on what we have had on previous stays ... Bar staff at pool were hard to find at times, often leaving unattended for extended breaks
