Pros +
- The location of the resort is excellent with Swansea and Caves Beach only minutes away. The layout works well and there is ample parking. The facilities are great, pools, tennis courts, BBQ's, and playground.
- The setting is amazing! The accommodation is very generous and well equipped. The facilities were plentiful and catered for a variety of needs.
- The heated pool made our stay! It was lashing down with rain on two of our days and we had 9 kids to entertain so the heated pool was a lifesaver! So warm with a roof to keep the rain off and big enough for all of us. The jacuzzi was a plus and even warmer. The kids loved the bubbles and the shallower pool for the littlies was great too.Fishing on the jetty and availability of bait and fishing equipment and bottleshop on site were a major bonus too.The food at the Tavern was good and we managed to get a girly trivia night while the dads took the kids home for bed. The whole resort felt very safe and everything was close by and easy accessible for all. Will definitely come back:)
Cons -
- Our room was filthy! The kitchen was the worst! The chopping boards, serving boards and placemats were mouldy! The oven did not work (grill did), the dishwasher seal was falling off, the sliding door kept jamming.
- signs of wear and tear; things looking generally tired and shabby around the complex eg. undercover area of the cafe; the toilet area near the main pool; the grouting in wall tiles around the bath area particularly; Queen beds as opposed to king beds
- The aircon didn't seem to work well in our unit (412) and we couldn't work out if it had a timer changing the settings or not. I'm sure this could have been sorted if we'd asked to be honest but we didn't look into it.

Location close to family, lake and ocean
Great unit set-up, good to have ensuite in each room, spacious living room, acceptable kitchen, beautiful grounds, great facilities and location, yummy food options at tavern.
Not directly linked to Rafferty's - The late checkout call centre took a very long time to answer and then didn't have our details on file for some reason. Could have been a very long wait to resolve if we weren't lucky enough that the desk staff hadn't left yet.Dishwasher advertised on booking but there was none, didn't affect our stay as we were only there for 2 nights but good to clarify.
nice feeling
needed an update smelt a bit oldcreaky floors etc
Pleasant home to stay. Pools, lake, views.Relaxing and peaceful environment.
We had a short circuit problem, lights were off for the night. Called up but not really attended to. We just sort the box ourselves and got it back on.Iron is not safe to use.No WiFi?
Location and amenities on the property - pool, tennis courts etc
Beds
Clean, lots of space for a larger family
The beds and lounge were very uncomfortable.
The new bistro is great and the pool and lake
We have stayed 4 times now, and the house we stayed in thus year was a little disappointing, advertised as a king bed however not, leaking drain pipe outside our entry( very dangerous if you slip)
The aspect over the lake and the new tavern was a good option for eating out.
Waterfront at lakeside taken over by very large groups who pitched gazebos allowing no one else to enjoy the space.
The convenience of the 4 different pools and the lake for fishing great getaway
The townhouse itself needs to be updated shower heads old
Waterfront location & accommodation.
Run down, needs improvement- tavern advertised but not in full operation.
Spacious and clean accommodation.
The tavern is terrible!Only 2 cocktails to choose from, 1.5 hour wait for hot chips which ended up being terrible.
Location and availability of multiple pools.
The room we stayed in was outdated, bathroom had mould and vanity drawers had water inside them.
- Spacious townhouse - Lovely outlook- Nice pool
- Lack of supplies for 7 days - dishwashing liquid (expected to wash your own dishes), lack of toilet paper (2 rolls per toilet for 7 days), lack of garbage bags (1 bag for 7 days), no chopping board (purchased our own and left it there for next person to use) - Noisy and loud neighbours at 2am- Bin was emptied morning of us leaving and woke us up and no idea how they got the bin through without scratching our car- No communication throughout stay about anything except one brochure given at start of - Other people around that don’t have accomodation around - Pools were packed and not enough seating around the pool - Only place to eat is the new tavern otherwise have to drive into town and not much there either
Property run down and in need of a big overhaul. No restaurants open due to renovations.
The villa we were in was straight out of the 70’s, 2nd hand broken furniture, smallest TV ever and beds with springs sticking out. Disgusting.
It was a nice area
No plug for sinks and no iron, and we were there for a wedding and couldn’t iron our cloths plus the property was in need of and upgrade quite old and things falling apart especially for the amount you pay to stay
I loved how quiet and tranquil the surroundings were. The houses/cabins are nestled amongst trees were bird life thrive.
Nothing. This resort is lovely. Although the restaurant was being renovated so we couldn't eat at the resort but in time once that is complete it will be a fantastic place to visit again.
Rafferty’s Resort is a peaceful resort just 15 mins south of Blacksmiths so a great location to stay for a surf life saving carnival at Swansea Belmont Surf Club. With 4 swimming pools and tennis courts there’s always a pool close by. The main pool has an amazing view of the lake with tables to sit at and enjoy the view, whilst having a bite to eat and a drink watching over the kids. The resort has its own boat ramp and place to store water craft. There are signs saying “Free range children so max 15km/hr” so the kids are safe. They are getting their restaurant back up and running which will add value to the resort.
Townhouse 407 is probably in original condition (circa 90s perhaps) and in need of a reno of bathrooms and kitchen. Kitchen could do with a dishwasher too. No-one looks forward to going on holiday and having to wash dishes. There were other minor issues like rusted out downpipes, squealing pipes, etc. but it was still clean, tidy and did the job. New couches wouldn’t go astray either.
