Nelson Bay isn't big so most of the good hotels are were the good stuff is, such as this one. The staff was friendly, room was big and the bathroom was spacious. Facilities could be updated a bit but all in all, it was good value for money. Quiet area and literally at a 4 minutes walk from grocery shops, restaurants and bus stops.

There's no real "lobby" so if you have to check out and wait a few hours for your transport pick up, there's no sitting area or waiting area in the hotel.

The staff I initially spoke to, very rude and unhelpful over the phone! The young man I dealt with in person was great, very friendly and welcoming ! If I had to solely deal with the woman on the phone I wouldn't stay there ever!!!

Great location - only 1 block from main shopping centre. Room was well kept and very comfortable.

Shower head holder was broken and could not hold shower head in a normal position.

Check in was professional and comprehensive. Location was good although very hilly. View was very good but did not compensate for room amenity.

The room was very cramped especially the bathroom. It appeared a single room had been divided to make 2 rooms. Multiple stairs in hallway were awkward. Car park entry far too steep and pass reader too close to roller door. No hand towels. Power board was a safety hazard. Grohe mixer not secure probably so you can fill kettle. Property did not live up to expectations from pics on website.

Have stayed twice before and highly recommend.Good sized units and very clean and comfortable., very helpful staff and ideal location✔️.

This is the worst room experience I've had in the last 30 years. Upon entry the room smelt overpoweringly of damp. I went to open window and couldn't as no fly screens on any window. We were facing the street, which is okay in itself, however there were very large fixed external blinds which meant, except if you were standing in kitchen, you couldn't see out. It was like being in prison. The floors were filthy, there were crusted old drink and food spots on kitchen floor. Fridge dilapidated. When we checked in the front desk advised we had been upgraded, this was not true when I looked at my booking. This was worst Oaks experience ever. Thank God was only one night as we were passing through. We would have checked out regardless. Nelson Bay is so beautiful we will be back for a week, but staying elsewhere clearly. Authentic Thai restaurant was delicious.

Bed Comfortable , Location good , room needs update and a good clean

Room was unclean, the lounge was stained, and had a blanket over the cushions , all kitchen items needed cleaning prior to using them

The friendly receptionist Carole who went out of her way to do anything to help. She made our stay so much more enjoyable that it would have otherwise been with her local knowledge, which she shared graciously, sending us to good reasonably priced local restaurants away from the more expensive ones. The place was centrally located .It was pretty well kitted out so we could cook but it didn't have a coffee machine or any salt and pepper.

The extra bed for our autistic teenage grandson was a relic from the seventies and very noisy and uncomfortable.The main bedroom was next to the service entrance and was quite noisy.The place was very expensive ( twice the price per night than our 5 th floor apartment overlooking the beach in Cronulla).

Fantastic view from the balcony, clean and spacious apartment.We enjoyed our stay.

The water pressure in the shower wasn't great.

We were charged a cleaning fee and not communicated about it. It was apparently for a stain on the carpet that was not from our stay.

Only one negative thing about my stay: My room card didn’t work on my last night of the stay for some weird reasons. I called the staff at an emergency number to open the room door for me. That gentle man was nice and helpful. But it did bring some inconvenience .

Noise from units above. TV in 2nd bedroom did not work. Staff explained the issue which was fine but, poor due to the amount we had paid per night.I understand this is not the staff fault. They were more than apologetic.

Check in was easy, lovely staff and super comfortable rooms. Might need a bigger couch in the 2 bedroom apartments to fit 4 people but otherwise very satisfied!
