Pros +
- Airport pick up and drop off.
- The hospitality of the employees. Big up to Moussa in the hotel restaurant. Smart guy who is doing is job properly
- Overall, I enjoyed my stay at the hotel. The staff were courteous and accommodating. I didn’t have any meals at the hotel, so cannot comment on the food. With regards to the airport shuttle, pick me I was great. There was a driver with a sign waiting at arrivals.
Cons -
- The hotel staff are engaged in scams with the local drivers to rip you off. Do not trust anyone at that hotel. Watch your back. Also the food was barely edible. I think for Mauritania this is considered average but if you are expecting anything else.
- The furnitures are old now. They have to renew it
- For departure from the hotel, the one staff member could not provide me the shuttle timings to arrange for drop off at the airport. I was asked to come down to reception the next morning. I did so and was informed there is only one shuttle in the morning and one in the afternoon. I had less than an hour to shower and pack in order to catch the shuttle. It would be great if the schedule could be posted in the lobby and/or rooms. Thank you

The hotel was a well located property in central Nouakchott. We arrive extremely late at night (early in the morning) and the hotel shuttle was prompt, pleasant and efficient. The front desk quickly checked us in, the room was spacious, comfortable and well appointed. The breakfast was a wide ranging buffet or international and local foods, which I appreciated. We didn't use the pool but there was a host of other customers that did and it looked enjoyable. Would recommend.
La gentillesse du personnel, la piscine, les repas
Clean, quiet, lots of places to sit (in and outdoors). Staff very helpful

Swimming pool
Bathroom dirty and old Air conditioner very old Bad Breakfast , no variety
Location is great. Just next to the national assembly and main area in Nouaktchott
Too many flies in and around the restaurant. Impossible to eat if you don't accept them.Pool was too warm. Could be cooled a littleHard mattressesOld and dilapidated building.
Breakfast.
No automatic supply of drinking water, very small room, no soap in the bathroom, water heating is not steady, Tv channels are limited.
Avoid.
Very slow check in. No towels in room on arrival. Over priced water and soft drinks. Staff that prefer to talk amongst themselves than cater for customers. A manager that asked us WHAT WE WANTED when calling him over because of lack of service and staff group chatting. One colleague who waited 30min for a coke was then told don’t have run out go and buy from reception as he was to lazy to go and get it himself. The rooms are run down and not what the pictures show. The price also is far to expensive for what you get. Overall an an experience I was happy to get away from. Avoid.
Nice location with a nice pool. Stuff is very friendly and accommodating. Very clean and one of the best hotels in Mauritania.
I think this is a lovely and cosy boutique hotel in Noukchott with ample fascilities to suit a travelers needs plus feels trendy and cool. The staff are more than friendly and convey the lovely hospitality of my Mauritanian brethen and sisters :)
it was ok
there is no elevator, which is strange for a brand like Azalaï…especially as guests would have to climb with their luggage. The gym also had a lot of mosquitoes.
The breakfast is good overall.
For the price (roughly $145 per night) the quality is below that of for example Accor Group of hotels. The food quality and choice is limited. For example the hotel can once a week propose a different type of food: Chinese, Indian, Italian, Continental etc. Azalai is probably the best hotel in Nouakchott but I think it is below the standard of 3-star hotels like Novotel or City/Town Lodge in SA.For breakfast there is not enough variety of breads.
Staff we’re very friendly and helpful
Dinning was limited yet understandable due to Ramadan
Excellent hotel with a nice pool, great location in the city centre. Really friendly and helpful staff.
Central location next to Parliament and major sightseeing places. Great air con, wifi and bed. High security is evident at entrance. Big, clean pool with plenty of sun loungers and nice atmosphere. Pleasant busy bar. Free shuttle was great as the new airport is a long, long way from the city. Aisha - a manager, was excellent at helping me and found a good driver to take me to Senegal, ask for her as she is great.
Restaurant not as stylish as photos show, basic wooden chairs, all plants missing and lighting dim. The photos advertised are from some years ago when it first opened, as much is quite dated and changed now. On two nights only an expensive buffet available instead of advertised a la carte menu. Room was comfortable but with dated dark wood furniture. Big desk and handy sockets and good soundproofing though. No currency exchange here as advertised and hotel could not get card machine to work for my Mastercard so had to withdraw cash and incur large foreign cash fee to pay. The reason I booked was to pay everything by card. I've read since that this is a frequent issue. Expensive breakfast for a mediocre offering, many items run out way before breakfast finishes and are not replenished. 2 of the 3 coffee machines not working and had to ask for plates and cups etc. Only one receptionist speaks English so often had communication issues. No tours desk/concierge. There are limited decent hotel options in Nouakchott so this hotel may not be so bad a choice.
the location is near to most of the main government locations and departments, security 24/7 in a very restricted conditions, good restaurant.
no elevators,
