Lovely staff, gorgeous and convenient location, everything is clean, heaps to offer such as bike/kayak rentals, great price! The place has a great vibe.

Even if you get a private room, you will hear everything. I heard my neighbour's snoring and even phone vibration notifications (and I am sure he heard my farts, soz!).

Comfy large room, with a space heater for cool winter evenings. Great, helpful staff.

Clean and modern dorm. Plenty of space and easy to check in. Nice hot shower with good pressure! Great location next to town centre and jetty.

Would have been nice to have had lockers or plugs at the beds but they did have storage space and plug sockets elsewhere.

An awesome place to meet new people. Extremely budget friendly. Great view of the lake.

Wifi was choppy. Connectivity and signal was a problem.One suggestion for the hosts is to enforce no smoke and vape rule in and around the property.

Very handy location. Budget style accommodation suited more for the younger generation. Somewhat different than we are used to as travellers over 50. It was very busy when we were there, particularly within the communal kitchen area. We had a few issues, that we raised with management as feedback. They went out of their way to ensure a positive outcome, were very professional and amenable, which exceeded our expectations. So, thank you very much.

Very pleasant stay in this super cosy hostel. It's small, which gives you a more at home, relaxed vibe compared to bigger hostels. Room and bathroom facilities were clean! Close to everything in town.

Location was great, walking distance into the centre, cool layout with the dorms and private rooms surrounding the courtyard with hammocks

Upon arrival we missed checkin time (our fault) but our key wasnt left out for us, no obvious way of telling which room we booked and there was no way of contacting any staff member.. Apparently we werent the only guests who found this problem.After asking a few guests we eventually found a clipboard with the guestlist and the room we were meant to be in but still no key. Luckily the room was left open.The bed was pretty uncomfortable but you cant expect too much from a hostel.

Location is great, short walk to all the cafés and cute surfshops.

The dorm and communal spaces are dirty. Kitchen and bathroom very outdated. Fridge looked filled with food from a long time ago, it was hard to find a empty spot.

The backpackers is in a great location on the estuary and right in town. Staff are friendly and it's not too noisy after 10 pm. It has everything you need in terms of showers, bed and kitchen facilities. The design has obviously evolved, has been added on to with lots of small buildings and is a rabbit warren. It seriously needs a good tidy up outside, the gardens are overgrown, there's washing, old plastic containers, racks, bits of rubbish, broken steps and it's generally pretty neglected and untidy . Cleanliness was passable. For $48 a night in a mixed dorm, I think there's room for improvement

Really noisy, apparently it was house next to Backpackers but they were partying all night. As we stayed only for one night it was not really a good one. Also fridges were kinda dirty but I guess it's more about people staying..

I have never stayed in a Backpackers and I was surprised at my experience. Friendly environment such a gorgeous town to stay in. I would return

Great location, comfy bed, large area to chill in, access to kayaks paddle boards and discount on yoga.

Only three showers, not very clean kitchen, over full fridge no room for your stuff, thin walls you can hear a lot.

I didn't see any power sockets in the room I was sleeping in. Maybe I didn't look properly

8 bed dorm room was quite spacious. It had an allocated space for your luggage but it is not a secure luggage space (eg. no locker, just a marked area). Hostel seemed safe though. Bed was comfortable and pretty stable. Linen/duvet was provided. Room had black out curtains so nice and dark. I could see they had a huge number of surfboards and kayaks to hire (I didn't use/hire any though). You need to drive from hostel to get to the surf beach and there were 2 surfboard rental trucks at the carpark of the surf beach so easier to hire from there if you only have a little car; also there is a kayak hirage place at the jetty near the main Raglan shops area (where you kayak from right there at the waters edge) if you want to go to visit the limestone rocks (you can see the rocks in the distance from the jetty). Great location for walking in evening to restaurants, cafes, and places you can get coffee (Raglan has lots of yummy food and excellent coffee places). We did self check-in after hours so didn't really see the staff but their email communication was great. Bathroom, lounge, kitchen and dorm room all were clean and tidy. The lounge had 2 guitars. Had to park car about 1 min walk up the road (street parking) which was fine (and there were several of those type of street parking), which was free parking overnight (would need to move car during day as I was in a P60, but we drove to the surf beach during the day). Location seemed quiet and is on the edge of the estuary so it would be good location if you wanted to kayak the estuary. I would stay again if I came back to Raglan. Across the street from the police station.

No key for 8 bed dorm room (but I think keys provided for other dorms/rooms), no lockers for your luggage. They didn't have individual charging ports by the bunk beds but there were a number of charging ports in the dorm (eg multi socket board), quite a few charge ports in the lounge and more in the kitchen.

Great position and location ! It’s a bit “aged” but we loved it anyway :)

A lot of parties and noises but we actually slept very good and enjoyed anyway :)

The hostel is a place for people in their 20s. If you're more mature age I'd not advise going. It's incredibly noisy at night. I had to ask a noisy group to be quiet at well gone midnight despite being part of the hostel policy that there's no noise after 10pm.There's only one shower for all the women there. And the kitchen got very dirty.It's a shame because the hostel could be really good for all ages.
