Aarangi Tui Motel

This is a quirky place that is much more like staying at your friends old family batch than a motel room. They seem to have tried to provide everything they could think of, including a rice cooker! Travelling as 1 adult and 3 children it is tricky to find a single unit that fits us, but the unusual layout in a family unit worked well for us.I love that it is an old fashioned, family run motel in a great location.

The no contact check-in did feel a little impersonal and meant I didn't feel I could disturb them on the first night when I found the TV was not working. They were great when I buzzed them the next afternoon to let them know the hairdryer had given up the ghost and asked them to fix the tv.The Booking.com photo is very out of date. The building looks much older in real life and the top floor is for the private use of the family, not part of the motel. That's the back yard that is showing and it now has a barked area with a couple of picnic tables, and older trampoline, a shared clothes line, and a barbeque.

Great size room for a family. Too big for one person but awesome for family. Everything you need is available.

Size for one was too much. I was spread across the whole room as I wouldn't if I couldn't. Why I felt the need to clean somewhat.

Clean. Location. Everything I needed was supplied. Owner, on arrival, was friendly and helpful.

Noise on both nights, from next door. Unit 3. Not your fault. But it's the only thing that bothered me. There was really nothing about my stay I didn't like. Thank you.

Having 2 separate bedrooms is rare, and nice to have, and with fans (no AC). There was a fifth, single bed in the living space, along with a small sofa, table and 4 chairs. The kitchenette was pretty nice, well-furnished, too. We didn't use it too much, but it had a generous supply of dishes, food prep ware, utensils, etc. Even salt/pepper & oil! Fridge good. Bathroom was decent sized, with large bottles of amenities available. Service was kind and helpful. Older building, but all was working.

WIFI didn't work on all our devices, but some worked fine. All parking is parallel (but close to the room). The office is managed remotely, so you can't just walk into it - but they answer calls promptly, generally.

Had an overnight stay after a long wet motorbike ride. Unit had everything we needed for a good nights sleep, able to cook our meal. Close to town and the local supermarket. Everything was clean and tidy. Thee was a bbq to use, but it was too wet for us.

The property was as described and as expected. A bit dated, but clean and has everything we needed.

Property is very run down. A lot of multi power boards and extension leads. Bathroom lock was difficult to use. TV didn’t work properly.

Cheap

Kitchen facilities were lacking. Ate out every night as no space to cook.

The location was great we could easily walk to the ferry terminal to go to Russell and shops, cafes etc. Beds were very comfortable and room was basic but clean. We spent most of our time in Paihia sightseeing so we really just needed a comfortable place to sleep after long days. Jim the owner gave us our key early so we could head off for the day on the morning we arrived so we would be able to just come back to our room later that night.

Instructions were good after we read them - couldn’t find the light switch until after we read them !

This was a great location. We were warmly welcomed, the room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. Everything we could need was provided. We really enjoyed our stay in this homely motel.

The location was excellent for me. A short walk to the centre of town which was important as I didn’t have a car.

The decor is a bit tired looking. There were quite a few extension leads for all the electric items, in some cases an extension lead plugged into another extension lead. There were four very strong smelling diffusers, all of which had a different aroma. They were so overpowering I put three in a cupboard. I thought maybe they were covering some unwanted smell but no. If there needs to be some artificial smell it should be light and refreshing rather than strong and cloying.

Great location. Easy walk to wharf, shops and restaurants. Thank you for the early check in. Family run. Yes it’s older but comfortable. Good area to prepare own food.

The step up and down to shower. I was worried I would slip/fall as I stepped out. Would have loved a hand rail to hold.

The location was excellent, very central. We had the small studio, which is very compact (as stated on the website) but there was good use of the space, and it had everything we needed. The bed was very comfy. It was a treat to have a small cafetiere with ground coffee provided too.

Hard Beds, Not enough hot water for 4 adults to shower. Decor very mismatched and busy, too much stuff in room.

The location is wonderful, it's a short walk to the restaurants and waterfront/beach and far enough away to not be disturbed by nighttime noise.

We were in a room that I think was a converted garage - there were lots of bugs in the room and we ended up buying bug spray to spray everything down. The room was fairly dimly lit as well.

The room was too small. No air conditioning. The shower was not safe for elderly people.

Nice room,

No hot water! Took ages for hot water to cone through, and wasted water while waiting, in end I gave up and had cold shower!

Good location so easy to walk into the main town and the sea. Shops including grocery shop nearby. Room small but comfortable but had everything we needed. Very well equipped. Good bed.Room ready so no need to check in.firva short stay
