Mediterranean Motel Kaikoura

Easy contactless check-in when we arrived late at night. Located right along main road but not too noisy.

Friendly greeting when we arrived. Room size was very comfortable compared with many other studio spaces I’ve stayed. Bathroom and kitchen clean; kitchen supplied with appropriate items

On the edge of town. If coming from Christchurch it’s on the far side. There was traffic noise. It didn’t interfere with my sleep but be aware you’re on the main road.

Cute little motel - down the road from the main strip. Lovely staff.

Room smelt like Thai food and curtains are outdated / old

The location for me was brilliant, close to the beach to take the dog for walks and close to hiking trails

The bed was super comfortable, we had a very restful sleep after a long day of travelling. Despite being close to the road, traffic noise was not a problem through the night.

The unit could have been much cleaner, glasses and plates were dirty, the vanity was dirty and there was hair in the bottom of the shower.

Very noisy - too close to the road.De-acceleration of trucks coming into town was very noise and I did not get any sleep.I did request a quite room but did not get one.

Location and easy going staff! Comfortable and quiet. Good to see others had dogs too!

Good for a one-night stop-over. Needed accessible bathroom, which was good.

Couple of pieces of equipment didn't work. Meagre kitchen equipment.

We were allowed to bring our dogs, which we appreciated. The bed was comfortable, although on the hard side (although this is the same for most hotel/motel beds) The sheets were lovely cotton. There was lovely new thick curtains in the front.

They were trying out some new towels, but they were terrible. I HATE microfibre, it just moves the water around, It doesnt actually dry you. Also the door out to the back and the window beside it did not have any window coverings which meant it let the light in too early and it woke us up a lot earlier than we would have liked. I also believe this would be very cold once winter came along.

Convenient area for travelling through

Close to state Highway. A lot of truck/vehicle noise

Staff very helpful when we had to change our arrival time. Excellent facilities and location was beautiful.
