Alpine View Motel

The location to the beach and walk to town was great! We had to check out by 10:00 am, and had a scheduled train trip a few hours later. The owner held onto our luggage and met us at the train station prior to departure. Above and beyond!

Since the name of the motel was the Alpine View Motel, it would’ve been nice to actually have views of the mountains from the motel room. Unfortunately, the orientation of the motel did not allow that.

The 2-bedroom unit was good for the family of 4. The double and super single beds were so comfortable. We feel comfortable to dine in at the dining table and chairs provided. The bathroom is very clean. Overall the unit we stayed in was a very clean and tidy unit. We will come again.

Good location - near the beach and big grocery - short drive to the train station and town center. Possible to walk too if you're into walking. Breathtaking view of the mountains and beach. Room is clean and with complete facilities. Owners were very gracious, welcoming and sooo helpful - they went above and beyond in making sure I have a pleasant stay both in the property and in Kaikoura, For me, it felt like home.

Parked right outside the door. Room heating was on when we arrived so despite pouring rain and gale force winds it was warm and cosy. Electric blankets and comfortable beds. Well equipped kitchen so could cook a meal. Very clean and shower was great. Really enjoyed our stay. Right on beach but it was too wet to explore.

We stayed there for one night .The room was a good size , not cramped at all with a kitchenette/dining table.The bathroom however, was too small, no room to store anything in the bathroom and no room to groom yourself; there also was no power point in there , the shower did have good pressure , was happy with that.Wi-Fi was good, was a little noisy when the train went by.. (didn't hear it but bothered partner ) There is a beach access through the back gate but it was unkept when we were there with long grass.Beautiful views opposite the hotel...

Was very peaceful for us after a long drive! Exceptional service and great location! Supermarket and a few shops were within minutes down the road!

Loved the room layout - spacious nice feature wall colours - made it warm and inviting. Great location, had all the the sky channels (many places offer sky but don't)Nice gesture at check in giving us Easter eggs - definitely go back again

I liked the hosts who were very friendly. Lots of hot water for the shower, a comfortable bed and a cosy heater that warmed the room nicely. We'll be back

If you had noisy neighbours it could be disruptive but fortunately we did not

Older buildings, but very clean and tidy, some games available in outdoor area and BBQS for cooking. Nice atmosphere and a short walk to a nice pizza place.

Breakfast was DIY, continental. Restaurant was excellent. Car parking on layby @ front OK. Despite nice large bar, no noise. Staff friendly.

Had a front room, facing main SH 1, was quite noisy at times. Room heating took a little effort to operate/ adjust but once solved OK

Shower curtain kept blowing in on me even though all doors and windows were closed. Minor inconvenience.

Had a great stay at this motel. We were greeted by a super friendly guy on arrival, and he was very accommodating to our needs, and usefully pointed out the great spots for restaurants and a brilliant walking trail that we ended up running along. Room was spacious and everything was very clean and no issues. The motel is very well situated, very close to the check in for the famous Whale Watch cruise company, and to the town centre. We also liked the fact that there is easy access to the beach right at the back of the motel.

The kitchenette is a little limited, so preparing a dinner in the evening might be tricky, but we took the advice and got a delicious takeaway from down the road.

An older type unit but was very clean with plenty of room we were in unit 8 nearest the sea furtherest from road very quiet only a train about 3 times a day. Bedroom was separate probably a double bed though. It had all kitchen gear located north of town centre about a 15 minute walk from centre but supermarket and shops about 2 minute walk.
