Pros +

  • All the customers was evacuated.
  • Not much to say here.
  • It was closer to town and lots of shops around

Cons -

  • Fighting between 2 rivals gangs. We was forced by police to evacuate.
  • There is a huge door on each floor. When people cross it (pretty much all the time), it generate a 7 level earthquake in all the hotel. Wifi sucks in terms of reach and performance. The staff had no motivation to fix either of these problems.
  • 1. Room Heating 2. Other people had smoke in the room before I went in

Great value for money. The staff is amazing and very friendly, they always provided us with water. The room was simple but fine for the price: the beds were comfortable, the TV worked, and we had no issues with the stay itself

The hotel is very worn out and needs a renovation, but the biggest issue is the location. It’s a very dangerous area (near the North Station) with a lot of sketchy people, drug users, and aggressive crowds. It felt unsafe to walk outside. This is more of an issue for the city police and municipality than the hotel, but be warned.

Absolutely awful, do not waste...

I have tried to lodge a formal complaint about my stay at the Helmet Hotel in Brussels December 2025, booked through booking.com. I have been in touch with the hotel directly and have not heard back. The condition of the room was unacceptable, particularly in terms of cleanliness. (Please see attached photos for reference.)The room was extremely dirty throughout. Dust and grime covered the floor, skirting boards, and corners of the room. Under the bed was visibly filthy, with accumulated dirt that had clearly not been cleaned in a long time. The shower floor was dirty, and one of the shower doors was missing, causing water to flood the bathroom. Cushions on the bed were stained and unhygienic. The wardrobe smelled of smoke, and the interior was dusty. Beyond the cleanliness issues, the facilities and condition of the room were not up to standard. No bedside tables, coffee-making facilities, or basic items such as hand towels or bath mats were provided. Broken tiles in the bathroom, a broken toilet flush plate, and a damaged shelving unit. A wall fan with no cover, posing a safety hazard. The only chair had a burn mark, the safe did not work (which made me feel very insecure), and the only heater was a small electric unit placed on broken furniture. I was extremely uncomfortable in the room, and was unable to sleep properly. We decided to leave after the first night, returning the keys to reception. The staff member showed no concern or interest when informed that we were leaving. I also sent a message on the booking.com app to confirm we had left. (But I received no reply.)The room bore no resemblance to the photos advertised on Booking.com.

Bed was comfortable. When we requested to change room, they moved us to a different room but it was also sticky and dirty.

Shower screen was smashed. Floors were sticky. Room was dirty. No space to open your suitcase. Noisy street below and noisy other guests in hotel.

Concierge was very friendly, helpful and welcoming at least

Just all felt like a 60 euro per night hotel, which would be fine but the room price was nearly 100 and I’d expect a bit more for that.Room was a bit grubby and windows very thin, so the loud street noise is a bit disruptive. Toilet roll holder had fallen off at some point and not been replaced (which might explain why they had forgotten to put any toilet roll in).

The hotel is very bad. The rooms are extremely dirty, the decor is broken, not clean at all, and the room smelled unbearable.

I know is cheap but...

I have to admit, i booked without even looking or reading the reviews so is my fault but honestly what i've found is not really worth the fact that is low cost. Everything is super dirty. The building is awful, spiders and insects in the room. The windows doesn't even close properly. The receptionist showed us a very awful room when we arrived with no curtains so everyone could have seen us, without mentioning the broken window also and the dirtiness of the room. We said no and he offered us another room, bigger but still the quality was very very bad. The air was broken so no possibility to warm up the room, so if you come in the winter you are screwed and you better be ready to become a snowman. At least there was hot water.

I know is cheap but make yourself a favore and avoid coming here. The area is also dangerous.

A huge deception and waste of money as the don’t refund.

The quality of the accommodation was far below expectations and did not match the photos shown online. The bed sheets were dirty and covered with hairs. When we asked for them to be changed, the cleaning lady responded in an aggressive tone. The sink was clogged and did not drain properly, leaving water standing in it. The shower was dirty and full of mold, and the floor was greasy and unclean. The refrigerator in the room was also full of moisture.Additionally, the elevator was not working, and the receptionist (the man) spoke to us in an unfriendly tone when we asked about using it, saying, “You are on the first floor.”I am extremely disappointed with this booking and request to cancel and receive a full refund. The hotel’s quality was so poor and far below standard that it was impossible to stay there, and we had to find alternative accommodation. I sent the same message to the property and asked for a refund. They didn’t even bothered the response. Please read the reviews before booking. It was my worst experience ever with any hotel.

Horrible

As soon as we entered the first room, we noticed that there were insects, mold on the walls, and obvious water stains. After complaining at the reception desk, we were assigned another room—but the condition there was just as bad. Even after further room changes, it turned out that all rooms had similar hygienic and structural deficiencies. Due to these unacceptable conditions, it was impossible for us to stay at the hotel, as the rooms did not meet the minimum standards of cleanliness and safety in any way. In addition, there was a massive breach of security and data protection: any room card could be used to open any other room. When we wanted to retrieve our belongings from the old room, we encountered strangers who were having intercourse at the time. This constitutes a serious breach of the hotel's security obligations. To make matters worse, our personal belongings were packed up by hotel staff without our consent and moved to another room without us being informed. This behavior is unacceptable and constitutes a significant invasion of our privacy.

A terrible experience. The bathroom was the worst part — dirty, full of mold and stains, and it smelled so bad it was disgusting to take a shower. Being cheap shouldn’t mean being filthy. It was absolutely gross, like a public restroom. The pillows and bed covers were old and full of holes, the floor was sticky and dirty, and everything smelled like cigarette smoke. The walls and doors were stained and neglected. The area was also unsafe — bad smell, noisy at night, and people drinking outside. I would not recommend this place at all.

Nada

The only thing I like is that the hotel is close to the Brussels North Station

Everything. The hotel is located in a very bad, horrible neighborhood. It is not clean. It stinks. There are bedbugs everywhere and I got several bites throughout my body. The restroom are not clean, there is fungus everywhere and the walls of the room are dirty
