- The yoga classes thanks to the professionalism of Gözde, were well organized.Thankfully, there was a good camaraderie among our fellow travellers.I really appreciated it when it was finally time to leave?
- The place was incredibly calm and relaxing — perfect for unwinding. They offered lovely activities like yoga and tea tasting, which added so much to the experience. The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented every time. The staff were genuinely the nicest people; they made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. A special thanks to Zineb for her kindness and warmth, and to the entire team for their hospitality. The massage was also amazing — deeply relaxing and rejuvenating.
- The property was wonderful. Clean, beautiful aesthetic and attention to detail. All the amenities were fantastic. Rooms were very clean, spacious, and high quality - even the toiletries were great and i appreciate when the complementary water provided is in glass bottles rather than plastic. Staff were great as well!
Cons -
- The place is not well managed or maintained. The pictures on the website were evidently taken when it initially opened. It would be nice if they invested in the upkeep of the place. We were in lagoon loft 12, paint is cracking inside, the front door is not hinged properly so there is a gap at the top, the outdoor ottoman has a hole in it, the straw carpet underneath is threadbare and dirty, the hot water was sporadic, there is no a/c or ceiling fan in the room, spent the first two nights sleeping in the outdoor bathroom area as it was too hot, the hand soap, body wash and shampoo are the same as well as the conditioner and body lotion. It’s unfortunate that they didn’t take into account the natural wind flow of the area when designing the bungalows. As for the rest of the property, wear and tear is noticeable as well. There seems to be a manager and his entourage(maybe relatives) that like to parade around yet they are completely oblivious to what needs to be done. It’s like they are acting a part with no qualifications. The pool had algae on the surfaces. It is only when someone complained that they did something about it. One would also think that the straw placemats would be cleaned between each service, not the case..many times I removed them as there was either jam from breakfast or mildew stain on them. Completely disgusting! It would also be nice if the meal choices instead of just listing for eg. Kasbah chicken be given a short description as well. As for the prices of beverages, if you are charging the equivalent of 4€ for a cola in Morocco, it would be nice if it was served in a glass with ice and maybe a slice of lemon instead of a tepid can and plastic straw. As for the wine list, if you enjoy drinking inferior wines at superior prices, you will be well served. It was extremely disappointing as the Habitas website and its concept is enticing. After this experience, the disconnect between offer and reality ensures we will not try other Habitas resorts.
- Honestly, nothing comes to mind. Everything exceeded our expectations!
- The property was exceptional. Perhaps a rotating dinner menu with more vegetarian options.

It was our anniversary trip, and everything the hotel offered met if not exceeeded our expectations. The staff were warm and attentive without being intrusive, the food was excellent, and the hotel's location is just a short walk from the lagoon. The properties are thoughtfully designed and harmonize with the natural surroundings. While the prices may seem high at first, once you experience what’s offered, they feel justified. We're truly glad we chose this hotel.
We were initially a bit hesitant to book with the hotel after reading some less-than-stellar reviews about their kitesurfing school. However, we’ve been very happy with everything they offer—no complaints at all. While we didn’t book kitesurfing through the hotel, we did try stand-up paddling, and their staff was exceptionally helpful and kind.
The food was amazing, everyday. A great mix of local Moroccan and international food. The homemade Msemmen was my favourite thing to look forward to every morning! Considering it was included in the price and À la carte, portions were generous and there were multiple courses for every sitting. The staff were all fantastic and couldn't be more helpful. Special shout out to Hamid, Mahfoud, Zineb and Salima who made our holiday extra special including the effort they went to for my partners birthday, including petals, balloons and a cake. The lagoon is very close as are other activities. Our room was very big and spacious and the view both in daytime and night were fantastic. We slept very well.
There are a few small improvements that could be made, but once you relax and understand that you are literally in the desert, you will look past these small things - they become insignificant. Whilst all the staff were friendly and amazing, it is sometimes hard to tell who is staff or a local/visitor as they don't wear a uniform or name badge. Something small that makes them recognisable like a name or logo badge would be helpful. The pool is too cold even when hot, but I imagine in peak high temperature season, it may be easier to get in. It would be good to have a regular shuttle or service to travel to the town or other locations that you cannot walk to - this was otherwise too expensive to hire a private taxi for one off excursions so we missed out on seeing some places/attractions.
Considering the options around the area, it’s probably the best looking in terms of Instagramable captures.
I stayed at this property for 10 days, traveling specifically and exclusively for kitesurfing—as an advanced-level independent kitesurfer. Unfortunately, the experience was frustrating, poorly managed, and far below expectations. It started terribly: after an 8-hour flight, I arrived at the airport at 3 a.m. and no one came to pick me up, despite the transfer being pre-arranged. I waited 45 minutes alone, as the last person at the airport—at night, as a solo female traveler, in a vulnerable area. It was so unacceptable that the airport director had to personally call the hotel to urge them to send someone.Once I arrived, my room had no hot water, and despite reporting it immediately, it took two full days and repeated complaints before I was finally moved to another room with working hot water. The new room was excellent, but by then, I had already gotten sick from showering in the cold and being constantly chilly. Luckily, I had brought medicine with me—because this is not the kind of place where you want to get sick without it. You’re literally in the middle of nowhere, and the environment is not equipped for basic health or comfort needs. This illness cut down my kitesurfing time significantly. While I respect local observances, it’s clear the hotel doesn’t have systems in place to maintain a quality guest experience during Ramadan. The energy throughout the staff was extremely low, disengaged, and unresponsive. The overall vibe felt heavy, disorganized, and unwelcoming. But what truly makes this stay unacceptable is the way the kite school is run. Given that kitesurfing is the only real reason to travel all the way to Dakhla, one would expect that part to be outstanding. It was the opposite. One of my kites broke early on, and I was told multiple times that it had been repaired—but when I finally went to use it again, it hadn’t been touched. I had paid for supervision, support, and assistance with setup and transport, yet there was no proactive help at...
- good food- clean and nice designed room- drinking water for free every day- some activities organized in a hotel- helpful staffFrom other side:- some staff from dining area was slow, so we were receiving not hot food.- kite school poor organized, there is no transfer to lagoon, no rescue.- not heated swimming pool
WOW! I loved staying at Habitas. From the moment I arrived, I felt so warmly welcomed and at home. My room was absolutely beautiful and comfortable for my stay which was long (2 weeks). The food was fantastic. Each breakfast I would have orange juice, coffee, Moroccan crepes (Msemen) with butter, peanut butter, and jelly and then get to order the actual main breakfast. All of that was included in breakfast. For lunch you get an app and a main and for dinner you get an app and a main. They are also very flexible if you want to order something else. The pool area is incredible and it's nice having a bar there to order drinks, smoothies, juices, etc. Kitesurfing is readily available down the driveway to the lagoon and it's fun watching everyone kitesurf from laying by the pool. There is security letting cars in and out of the property. Thank you to Zakaria, Zineb, Yasin, Hamid, Mourad, Sufian, Mahfoud, Nassim, Jalal, and Saad for making my stay incredible and being my new friends!
There was nothing that I did not like.
Habitas Caravan is perfectly positioned on the shore of the Dakhla Lagoon, making it easy to split your day into two kiting sessions—one in the morning and one in the afternoon—with just a quick crossing of the main road to reach the beach. We stayed in the ‘Desert Riad’ rooms, which were more than sufficient for our needs.Kite spot:From day one, Fatah and the entire crew went above and beyond to ensure we had everything needed to enjoy our kiting experience to the fullest and made us feel completely at home. Whether it was helping me properly mount the fins on my board, driving us close to the shore while carrying all our gear, their attention to detail was remarkable. We rented some of their equipment, brought some of our own, and also used their storage facilities. The school offers beginner courses and always prioritize safety. For instance, they chose to cancel our lessons on a day when the wind was too strong for our level. On our last day, they even helped us clean and dry our kites to prepare them for the journey home.Staff:From the reception team to the restaurant staff, the pool bar crew, the cleaning lady, everyone consistently went above and beyond to ensure we had the best experience possible. Their recommendations for activities outside the hotel (Le Ranch des Dunes is a must-see), truly made a difference. I especially want to mention Mahfoud and Zineb, who were extremely helpful even after we left. When one of our luggage pieces didn’t arrive home with us, we reached out to the hotel staff for assistance since we couldn’t get in touch with anyone at Dakhla Airport.Restaurant:Finally, the food definitely deserves a mention. We opted for the full board option, which included à la carte breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and the quality and flavor of the meals were exceptional. The calm and soothing music in the restaurant area enhanced the serene atmosphereWe’ll definitely return soon and will always cherish the wonderful memories of this holliday!
None, I hope to come back.
Upscale place with very professional staff. I enjoyed the free yoga class - and the teacher was great. I enjoyed the breakfast/lunch/dinner - the main differentiator to the other two places I stayed at is the 'a la carte' option, which was nice.
Room is a bit expensive for solo travelers, but still good value considering it is full board (and food is great). My room only had small windows and no view and little with regards to ventilation (but there are more other, more expensive rooms, with presumably a nicer view). Did not care too much about the 15 Euro (?) per day storage fee (and they apparently frown upon keeping your gear in your room).
A classy, yet understated, venue. Very helpful and friendly team, surprisingly good food, and a great kite school.Special mentions to Mahfouz and Khaled for their welcome, Nabeel for the bar, and Mohammed Zakharia for his elegant management. But particularly for Abdo Fatah for his superb teaching at the kite school.
No complaints.
It was the worst experience with your hotel. There were no electricity in the room, no WiFi, and no hot water 4 days from 5 And everyday the stiff were telling us - in one hour will fix. And wasn’t improved. No excuses, nothing.
Very windy
Design architecture décoration , food
Power cut almost during the entire stay, no water during half day, sliding window in the courtyard of the suite is not strong enough against the strong Sahara winds , thus , very noisy during the night as the glass tap on the wood frame, impossible to sleep! It’s outrageously expensive for the poor quality!
Amazing facilities - rooms, the terrasse overlooking the lagoon, the staff is welcoming and attentive to the details, food is amazing in quality, superior taste. Kite house staff & service is really great ?
Food could have been in larger quantities (for those who kite). More wind shielded areas on the terrasse would be welcome.
My friend and I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Caravan Hotel in Dakhla, and I must say, it exceeded all expectations! The food was a highlight, the flexibility with meal times (breakfast until 11am, lunch until 5pm) allowed us to fully immerse ourselves in the leisurely pace of our vacation, savoring every moment without worrying about the clock. The complimentary morning yoga sessions were an absolute delight, providing the perfect start to our days. Not only were they rejuvenating for the body and mind, but they also helped us connect with the serene beauty of Dakhla in a deeply meaningful way. Thank you Laura!Of course, no review would be complete without mentioning the impeccable service provided by the staff. Their dedication to ensuring our comfort and satisfaction was evident in every interaction, making us feel truly valued as guests. As for the hotel itself, it exuded an air of luxury that enhanced our experience at every turn. From the elegant decor to the thoughtful amenities, every detail was carefully curated to create a sense of indulgence and relaxation.Overall, our stay at the Caravan Hotel was nothing short of magical. We left feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, and already planning our next visit. In fact, we're seriously considering staying at another location in the Caravan Hotel chain for our next holiday – that's how much we loved it!If you're looking for a truly exceptional experience in Dakhla, look no further than the Caravan by Habitas hotel. You won't be disappointed!
Nothing. Room for improvement: we thought there could be tea and coffee available throughout the day.
A wonderful, effortless stay. Staff were attentive but not overbearing, the food was delicious, and the facilities are b
Great value for money with full board and airport transfer. Food is pretty good.
At times it’s hard to communicate with staff in English or French.
Great menu and food. Beautiful design like all Habitas hotels/rooms and very warm welcome on arrival. On lagoon and you can overland to the surf beach.
Items missing from drinks and food menu. Pool was very cold (too cold to swim). Just an fyi - restaurant is predominantly French-speaking. Service is good but not as slick as 5-star Habitas offering. No surf rental on site.
Great view upon the sand dunes (although there’s a busy road in front of the hotel which you cannot see on the pictures)Well located for kite surfersYoga classes were great ! Friendly animals
The list is long:-Staff: rude, slow and lots of attitude. Takes 45 min to get anything at least. Barman cocktails are awful-Kitchen: Lack of variety, no fresh juice in the morning, many dishes weren’t available -Hotel Maintenance: lightbulbs not working, paint falling off on some walls, bad finishing on the floor inside the rooms, no lights outside for the bath, outside bath isn’t cleaned, cockroaches, curtains don’t close properly -Lack of equipment: No hairdryer-Other activities: Very expensive to do anything
Excellent service by the staff, great fresh food. Girlfriend broke her foot and staff went out of the their way to arrange medical care and supplies, managed to give a personal touch.
Low occupancy during our visit, mattress was a bit hard, limited bar choices available.
