I booked the hotel as an extra day add on to a tour so I actually checked in with the group. Check out was seamless and my taxi arrived on time. My single room was spacious enough and the shower was large and water hot, not a given in Central America. Bed was comfortable and there was some space to hang clothes. The fan worked and there was no air conditioner but no need as it was cool enough. I didn't try the TV as it resembled a desktop computer sitting on the desk. The front door was secure; you needed to get the staff's attention to be let in and out. Staff spoke good English.

Cons -

The breakfast (scrambled eggs, rice, toast with no butter or toppings and pancakes) on each day was cold which made it barely edible, even when we arrived at 7am when breakfast started. It was like it was pre-cooked the night before and not warmed up. We were only dished out a tiny amount of scrambled egg and when I asked for more, the staff dryly gave me a teaspoon more! It was a 25 minute walk to the main part of town and museums which meant you needed to plan your time a little as it was too far to go backwards and forwards.
