    Pros +

    • It's a terrific place to stay in Valladolid. It's not five stars, but it doesn't claim to be ... it's a spacious, comfortable, kind of quirky but gorgeous little hotel and great value. It's an easy walk into town centre and wonderful, welcoming staff who gave exceptional recommendations for cenotes and restaurants (if only other hotels in Mexico were as good at this!) Breakfast was good and the cook was lovely. Parking on street was easy, safe.
    • The hotel is quiet with good sized rooms, a nice inner courtyard and pool area. The bathrooms are nice and stocked well. The furnishings could use an update; a bit worn out and I'd welcome a mini fridge to keep water cold. The breakfast ladies are great! Good breakfast, served quickly and with good conversation.
    • Sweet property just a ten minute walk from the center. Nice pool area and good king size bed. The receptionist was very helpful and super friendly with good recommendations.

    Cons -

    • The only downside is dogs barking during the night. This is not unusual in Mexico, just pack your ear plugs.
    • The A/C unit is very loud and there is no internal window that can be opened for fresh air. A couple of the lights were not working.
    • Our toilet was separate from the room, which meant having to leave the room in the night if needed. Perhaps we missed it on the booking, but we would have preferred everything in one room.

Tasteful, spacious, and comfortable rooms, very nice garden and pool area, simple but sufficient breakfast, staff was very helpful and attentive (great restaurant recommendations)

Shower water did not get very warm

The staff was really helpful and gave us a lot of helpful information about where to go and what to seeThey even packed a boxed lunch for us for our day tourThe room was large and clean with a cute hammock outside Location was pretty good, a bit of a walk from the main square but not too far and perfectly safe at night, I would definitely book here again

The hotel is gorgeous, very small, and cozy. I loved the rustic decor and the natural surroundings of the property. The staff were so helpful and super friendly. Jesus did our check-in, and he was invaluable and nice. Alma, the lady who prepares the breakfast was super friendly and the breakfast is delicious. You feel at home. The hotel is a little off the town center but not far away. You can walk or grab a taxi if the weather is too hot.

The bed was too hard for my personal taste, but I was able to manage it for a couple of nights—other than that, the hotel, rooms, and staff are great.

The room was generously sized and gorgeous. The pool was refreshing, breakfast was tasty and convenient. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly.

This really is a place of refuge from the town! It is tranquil and beautiful. The aesthetics are calming . The rooms are spacious and have everything you could need ( except maybe a little work desk). The pool is a great bonus for a mid day cool down . Jesus keeps the place really clean and organized. There was a water leak situation which i communicated and it was swiftly remedied.

There was a few bad odors from the show tubes but this was manageable with some incense.

    Only the location

The rooms were very dark. Smell and signs of mold and humidity, dirty bedsheets with make up residue on the pillow and stains on the bedsheets. A/C was leaking above our bed. Found a cockroach on my pillow. The bed mattress was sagging fully through one side. The swimming pool was very dirty, not inviting at all to swim in. The breakfast was poor. Not recommendations or menu presented. They just serve 2 fried eggs per person and some bread with jam. Jesus was friendly and tried his best to be as accommodating as possible.

The place was wonderful overall, nice, quaint, and very romantic. The staff were helpful and very friendly. Breakfast was good, but simple.

The breakfast was good, but a bit simple, and I was still a bit hungry after. But overall, I would stay there again.

I stayed at Refugio 41 in Valladolid and had a wonderful experience. As many other guests have mentioned, Jesús wasn’t at the front desk when I arrived - but that’s only because he was somewhere on the property making sure everything was running smoothly. The grounds were peaceful and quiet, even though the hotel is located right by the road. Breakfast was delicious and a great way to start the day. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay and would happily return.

    - terrace outside really spacious with a sofabed- excellent cosy clean pool- quiet at night- good breakfast - host (Jesus) gave us a lot of useful tips on a map, which came in very handy!

    - two big cockroaches in the shower, just close the lid (push it down) and they will not come anymore!- door didn’t close as good. Geckos sometimes came inside but we liked it

This is a little hidden gem! The rooms, the pool and staff were amazing! A little hidden oasis in the city.

The location is a bit of a walk from the center of town and there is only street parking. Also the neighborhood dogs can be pretty loud!

The room is big, quiet property and the staff is super nice especially at the reception

Beautifully decorated and very peaceful—this place was exactly what I needed after a day exploring Valladolid. I really liked the style and decoration throughout the property; it added a lot of character and charm. I loved my room and especially enjoyed the terrace with the hammock—it was the perfect spot to unwind. The location is great, with easy access to the city center and the Convento San Bernardino. The breakfast was also good. Highly recommended!

We love this place. The rooms are very beautiful, clean and we returned after 3 years, still finding everything in perfect conditions. Jose is very friendly too. Breakfast has improved also.

Nothing, it's perfect. Access to coffee maker or hot water would be a bonus

A gorgeous, traditional old house converted into an intimate hotel. Staff were friendly and offered great & thorough recommendations for the area.Very tranquil setting, lovely spacious room & comfy bed.

No hot water in the shower for 80% of our visit.Breakfast was quite basic.

    9MeriamPosted on: 3-20-2025

It feels like an oasis. You don’t hear anything from the outside. Free breakfast and super nice staff.

The toilet didn’t have any door which is awkward for couples or friends

    9KionaPosted on: 3-17-2025

Large clean rooms with in beautiful peaceful garden. It’s perfect located in walking distance to sightseeing in the city and nice restaurants. Staff is friendly and breakfast is okay, just what you need. The swimming pool is very nice after long day. The bed is very big and we slept amazing!
