Pros +
- The rooms were clean. The staff was really good.
- Great place! Everything is good in the hotel.
- The location was perfect, on a super private beach with incredible views of the sunset. The pool was really clean and refreshing in the heat. The inclusive breakfast was simple but fresh and exactly what we needed (and unlimited coffee was a hit, as coffees were London prices in Holbox town). It was walking distance to the main town and Playa Holbox but the beach area was much quieter and less commercialised than Playa Holbox which really suited us. The staff were excellent and really friendly and helpful.
Cons -
- The beach was filthy. The water looked black, goey, and stunk like sewage water. We couldn't even get near it. From speaking to other people, it looked like it was from sargasum they never cleaned up and left to rot. Also, as a hotel guest. you are not able to use beach chairs at the beach without paying the fee the non-guest pay (consuming at the restaurant/bar). You can only use the chairs from the inside in the hotel.Every day, we had to pay taxis and access fees in beaches from other hotels to be able to enjoy our trip.
- At the time of our stay the water in beach was extremely contaminated with Algae. Not able to swim and the smell was awful, but the next one to the left was super good so.. no big issue
- There was nothing we didn't like but we did find the orange/blue sunbed rule a bit confusing at first and slightly restrictive if you just didn't fancy a drink, and the fridge could be quite loud at night (but we had earplugs so it was ok!)

The beach has a beach club that you can not use unless you pay extra for the club. This beach had the most seagrass built up like it had not been picked up in some time.
Let me start with the good things. The hotel grounds are very nice and well kept. The room was clean and the breakfast tasty. However, breakfast took very long always and they kept forgetting a lot of things. We specifically Chose a beach hotel and paid extra Dollars for it, unfortunately out hotel beach was the only one on the whole Island who did nothing against the seaweed. It was so bad, you couldnt even step over it to get AccessTo the ocean. The beach Clubs Right Next to us and everywhere else on the Island took measures, This Hotel didnt. So we had to go to an expensive Beach Club a few hundred meters away every day. Taking This into consideration, This hotel is way way to Pricey. The sheets had always Spots on them, not sure if that was old dried blood. Also, there was literally no Place at all to unpack your bags so we lived for 6 days out of our suitcases which is Not a 4 Star Hotel for me. On the departure day we asked for a Late Check out which wasnt possible. Fair enough, but the only Option would have been to keep the suitcases at the Office and use the beach beds with consumption, no Access to the Pool, just Like an Outside Guest, mind you withNot Even Access to the Beach because of the sargassum. I find this outrageous as we were paying guests for 6Nights and would have paid for a late check out. At our hotel in Tulum This was no issue at all,We could use the hotel amenities all day on the day of the departure. We spent over1000 usd for this Hotel and are very disappointed, we are Not coming back and cannot recommend This Hotel.
We thoroughly enjoyed our family stay at this hotel. Its location strikes the perfect balance, offering a peaceful retreat while still being within walking distance of the center. The hotel is well-equipped with all the essentials for a relaxing holiday. Our room was clean with sea view.Nestled on a tranquil street, the hotel features lovely green spaces and a beautiful beach, perfect for soaking in stunning sunsets.Breakfast was a delightful addition to our stay, and we appreciated the availability of drinkable water for refilling our travel bottles, promoting sustainability and reducing plastic waste.
The best bay in holbox!! If you are looking for a quiet place ,thats the one!! 7m from the center, very very friendly team!! Thanks alot ,we will come back

Staff was really accommodating and helpful.
The beach in front was completely muddy so no access unless you walked around for a clean area to enter, (no fault to the hotel, jus weather). The hotel is further along the coast so as we ventured out, we found the area we would stay next time would be on the opposite side just due to preference to beach and beach access.
The surroundings around the hotel were beautiful. Lots of palm trees and flowers. Also, beach was nice.
Room was very dark, it felt like we were in the cave. The style of the room was old fashioned and boring. No coffee machine as well. Also, had to pay the additional tax which was not mentioned on booking.com.
Mycket avslappnande atmosfär, trevlig personal och bra mat.
Everything!!! It is calm and the loungers area and beach club is spacious, unlike many other more central hotels, which appear VERY cramped. Friendly staff. Excellent and spacious room which was super clean and well maintained. Definately recommendable!!! And hope to be back one day.
The only SLIGHTLY negative aspect is that the beach directly infront is full of seagrass. One has to go to one of the neighbouring bays to swim, which are 1-5min walk away. But this is really no big deal.
The room and property were beautiful. Just the perfect distance from downtown to be quiet but still walkable to everything.
The only beachfront we saw that had not cleaned up their sargassum
Hotel Puerto Holbox Beach Front was such a lovely hotel sitting directly in front of the beach. We had to change our arrival dates due some health issues and the hotel was so accommodating. The front desk staff was really helpful for any questions we had. The kitchen staff made delicious food and was always friendly and helpful with all of our needs!
There was a lot of seaweed that would pile up in front of our hotel. We just walked over to another section of the beach to go swimming. That was really the only negative.
Nice room; nice hotel; closed by Holbox center.
The noise from the constant taxi road; Beach in the front of the hotel was full of seaweed then not really comfortable here...
Well located, walking distance from the buzz of the town
Beach was inaccessible because of algae (the worst stretch of the island, other beaches are cleaned regularly). Pool in need of renovation. It gave a deserted impression.
Very comfortable and quiet
The location is slightly off the main beach, ok but not amazing
I would give this hotel the rating of 8.5, but I round it to 9.The room 11 was perfect, the view was amazing and it was very comfortable. The location is very close to the center by walk, the stay was overall nice.I really liked the free boot camp on the morning, however, this activity deserves to be highlighted to the guests with some advertising or something, I only noticed by hearing the music and going to ask more information directly.
The breakfast was very light and there was not the water like advertised in the breakfast, only coffee and still water if asked. More than one toast by person and a little bit more jam would be nice too.I think there need to be a booklet or something in the rooms with a reminder of breakfast times, WiFi, and the activities offered in the hotel or even on the island. There was lots of sargassum on the beach, which sadly were cleaned only the last day of our stay, but I understand that with the storm it avoided the water to get too high, but the smell was quite strong. WiFi was not very good
The room was quite ok and clean. Breakfast was tasty. It’s allowed to bring and consume your own food and drinks at the facilities. And from the room you luckily can smell and see the dirty beach.
The bed is to small for tall people. The beach is not maintained and cleaned. It is full of sargassum. I know it’s the season but all the other hotels around have clean beaches. This one has a beach full of sargassum and it’s impossible to enter the sea (unless you want to go through a few meters of smelly “stuff”. And the smell is also really unpleasant. Like sewage. I don’t know if the problem is that the hotel and the beach club are to different companies. But if you want a hotel at the beach this is not it. We ended up paying extra for the beach chairs elsewhere because the hotel beach was useless. Which is not ok if you book and pay for a hotel with beach access… We regret coming to Holbox due to that. Maybe it was just a bad choice of the hotel!!!
The location is great. Very close to the downtown area to walk to shops and restaurants. The lounging area along with the property restaurant service was very pleasant and relaxing. The property itself had a nice tropical feel to it.
There wasn’t a coffee maker in the room nor in the office. So have to wait until 8am to get coffee from the on site restaurant.. or else walk to a coffee shop which there is one that opens at 7am a block away. The biggest disappointment was that the beach was not cleaned up AT ALL from the sargassum. I’m not blaming the hotel on the sargassum problem, but we’ve stayed in other places/countries where the staff cleans it off the beach daily. The small beach area at this property was totally off limits as about the first 10-15 feet was a sludge of sargassum.
- Hotel with multiple small houses that are surrounded by a lovely and well-maintained garden- Calm but central location (5min walking to center)- Clean, nicely decorated rooms with balcony and amazing seaview - Small but clean pool- Great restaurant and beach club- Numerous sunbeds on the beach and in the garden, way less crowded than other hotels along the beach- Super friendly and attentive employees- We mentioned that we are celebrating out anniversary and we got an amazing room with lovely decorations - Beach perfect for watching the sunset
