Pros +
- Perfect location to explore central Oaxaca, walkable to many incredible restaurants (many of them are Michelin's recommended). Friendly staff. On-site restaurant set in a lovely courtyard covered with plants/trees; food is just ok, though the hot chocolate is very good, as to many other restaurants; so make sure get some Oaxacan chocolate home — we picked up ours at a little shop inside a cute shopping alley one street over.
- The hotel was beautiful and centrally located. The staff was very friendly and professional. The food at their restaurant was delicious and I loved the guacamole!
- Quiet, location, staff, cleanliness and comfort.
Cons -
- Everything was great! I will be back!
- Nothing. Todo bien!
- Maybe add a second suitcase stand in the room but otherwise can’t think of anything.

The hotel location is excellent and the staff very helpful. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Our only complaint was that the room location was the first room on the first floor, just across from the reception, so we could hear the hotel music and restaurant and we could never open the curtains. We will definitely go back to this hotel but we'll make sure to request a room deeper into the hotel or on the second floor. Wifi was a bit sketchy but it was a holiday weekend and it could've been that too many people were using it.
Everything! The staff in reception, door security and housekeeping were all welcoming, helpful and friendly. The room was immaculate, bed very comfortable, and the shower was great. The location is perfect, adjacent to great restaurants, bars, cafes, art galleries, museums, the beautiful Santa Domingo church, all walkable in minutes. Great WiFi! Supplied water bottles daily.
Maybe add a second suitcase stand in the room but otherwise can’t think of anything.
10 minutes walk to Zocalo, markets and many attractions. When we arrived we had a small welcome gift of chocolates and mixed makers plus 2 bottles of water in our room. Very nice. Excellent staff, good food at the restaurant for breakfast.
When we arrived in the evening, the restaurant was closed, as it is only open 8am-12:30pm. This was not clear when we booked. The price was $850CAD for 3 nights mid January, which felt expensive for the simple room.
Room was very nicely decorated an appointed. We were on the second floor as requested which gave us plenty of natural lighting. King bed was firm and comfortable. Bathroom was a bit small but shower was spacious and water pressure was fine. There was a clever storage space for toiletries under the sink...had to look for it.Daily maid service was excellent. Room was kept spotless. Nice coffee service and plenty of bottled water. Big fluffy towels.Location was great. Located on a busy street, but not as crazy as some of the other main streets in the Reforma area. We were a 5 minute walk from the San Domingo plaza and a 15 minute walk to the Zocolo, the main square in the city where the Cathedral was located.Front desk staff, Isabel and Gemma were sweet and informative. The taxi I lined up from Booking.com and/or the hotel to take us from the airport to and from the hotel was waiting for us when we arrived quite late (midnight) in the evening. Check in was smooth and efficient. Security was also excellent.
Reading lights, one of my fetishes, were not good. Too far away from bed and not strong enough. TV service was also poor. I probably should have asked the front desk for help, but I did not, so we missed out on some basic channels like CNN. We did however get to see a few US NFL games that were televised.
Location
I had originally booked a different place but they contacted me to say it could get loud. I appreciated the notice so I booked at Casa Vertiz. I should’ve stayed at the other place. The hotel has a restaurant and they play electronic music until 10pm. From 10-11pm you can still hear them cleaning the pots and pans. At 7:01 the kitchen noises start again. The next door neighbour is a party venue and it went on one night until 2:30 or so. Not great for light sleepers.
Delicious breakfast and ideal location. Aside from a little noise a few nights the hotel was perfect. The rooms all face in a beautiful green courtyard. The sheets were especially comfortable. It’s steps away from the plaza de San Domingo with shops restaurants etc. overall a great visit!!
A little noise from bAr next door on two nights. Shower didn’t drain well.
Super clean, great location, lovely restaurant courtyard
Terrible mattress unfortunately made it hard to sleep well
We liked the location, staff, restaurant, and the room itself.
We didn’t like how much noise could be heard from outside. Every morning we were woken up by the sound of people talking, dishes being set on the tables, and loud music. I also wish the room had a fridge.
Atmosphere .. Food .. Room .. Staff
Bkfst opens to late. The tours we had we needed to be there by 8am. Suggestion may just have coffee, juice, pan and fruit available early around 7pmRemote Control for TV get new ones .. kept losing signal .. not easy to use
Located near the touristy historical center. Near parks.
The tub/shower was interesting to look at but not extremely functional. Water would spill onto floor when showering. The tub was huge, which made it impractical to fill for a bath.
Great hotel, excellent service, extremely clean and safe. The staff here are really exceptional. Auriel - the waiter at the upstairs lounge/restaurant was special. What a great character! The hotel is two blocks from Santo Domingo. The hotel is extremely convenient and safe. I nice relaxing oasis in the middle of Oaxaca.
The upstairs lounge closed too early!
The restaurant was amazing!! We ate their twice and loved the food. The location was pretty centralized but not in a busy street.
The location is just perfect in the Centro and also quiet at night. You can walk to almost everywhere in five minutes. The rooms are super clean and very comfortable. There’s a cute restaurant Terrace in the entrance which is really good, simple and affordable. I would totally go back.
There is a rooftop bar, but it’s never open so not really useful.
The hotel is in a great location. Has a very pretty court yard. Rooms are good. We only stayed one night before flying. The food at the restaurant is fantastic. We were surprised at each meal how tasty and creative meals were!
Everything was great
Everything was excellent except the noise spring the night on one evening.
Thought the night porter would ask guests to be respectful of noise during the night when people were trying to sleep. This only happened on one night.
When I got there, the roads were very nice. Everything was super clean
I was in the middle of taking a shower about 9 o’clock at night and full of soap and shampoo everywhere and the water just stopped so I was stuck with no water for the next two hours. my husband kindly asked staff what was going on and they said that we were the only ones complaining we couldn’t have made this up. We were both in shock. They were very rude. The girl downstairs at the reception should not be there. she needs to be kinder, especially because we are tourist. We’re not locals. We don’t know what’s going on. We just know what we booked.
Staff were amazing, very clean, well located , very good value. Very well run by the young women who staff the hotel desk. They helped us arrange a driver for the drive to Puerto Escondido (Nacho) who was the best.
The coffee was the only downside but there are better choices steps away.
