- Location is the only redeeming quality.
- The hotel was modern and beautiful. I loved the art!
Cons -
- The music is extremely loud thru 2AM and sleeping is not possible in rooms above the Bar.
- I did not even want to take my shoes off in my private room. I was not given the room I purchased online and instead had to use a communal bathroom. I checked out early and found another place. It is insanely loud as well.
- The place is very noisy, and there are some bars around that play music loud and late. The bed is very old and hard and the water is not quite hot.

The location is very good, in the City Center. The staff is friendly. The building is pretty, an old house repurposed as a hotel with a small restaurant.

Central location, nice style, fast internet, great prize-value
Noisy street around (cars)
Alejandra and Laura were the best! They were super helpful and made my stay easier! Selina has an amazing location, which made it super easy to walk around.
Very friendly and helpful staff. They also have a coworking space and cafe downstairs. Super convenient location right in the middle of town.
Selina is wonderful. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Its location is fantastic, right in the middle of Oaxaca. There's a lively restaurant/bar downstairs, with great food and drinks and friendly servers (shoutout to Adrian!). The building is beautiful and everything is very clean. The cleaning staff does a wonderful job of tidying up the room too.
I can't complain, my entire experience was quite positive. I would note, however, that most rooms are on the 2nd and 3rd floor and there seems to be no elevator because the building is historical. This was not an issue for me, but it could be for others.
The location was great and even though the bed was way too small for two people it was comfortable.
The internet was terrible, didn’t work at all. They have told us only when we got there that we can’t get up to the roof due to construction work. There was no comfortable to hang out and sit. When asked for help for recommendations from the staff, they told us that we can look it up online (which we couldn’t because the internet wasn’t working- also the cell service. The room was tiny and with a single window that didn’t let any light in, and the bed filled up the intire space.
Great location and stylish decor, with spacious, clean rooms.
No laundry facilities (odd for a hostel), and the kitchen is small and poorly equipped. Major issue: terrace under noisy refurbishment all day, not disclosed at booking—only at check-in, framed as "great news." No compensation offered. Recent reviews show the same complaint, despite promises to inform guests. Hostel should close during works. Way too expensive for such a poor rest experience.
They have construction work on the roof top going on … noisy and a little dirty. So roof and yard and hammocks are not usable. One of the shared bathrooms was out of service…. I am usually a great fan of Selina Hotels but this time…. I wish they had told us before…or at least offered something ( free breakfast, nicer room…) … nothing…. We payed the full price. We are really disappointed!
Worst hotel experience I've ever had – avoid Selina Oaxaca at all costs.
Worst hotel experience I've ever had, avoid Selina Oaxaca at all costs.- The rooftop, prominently advertised during booking, was closed and completely non-functional.- The coworking space was also shut down without any prior notice.- Wi-Fi consistently stopped working after 9PM.- Noise levels were unbearable: loud street sounds late at night, followed by early morning construction starting at 8AM.- The shared kitchen was in terrible condition, only one dull knife and a single pan that was completely burned and unusable. To make things worse, after I complained, the staff promised a partial refund to compensate for the issues. I was told the refund would arrive within 3 days. It’s now been over 12 days, and not only did I not receive anything, they are now refusing to honor that commitment.Disappointing and dishonest experience. I would strongly recommend staying elsewhere.
Great size room, very clean. Staff were very helpful when one of our party was very ill and we arrived before check-in time. They found a room for us to rest in. Lively bar, with free welcome drink. Location is great, in the middle of everything
Building work meant loud noises, and no access to parts of the building, which we would have preferred to know in advance. One room only had hot water, including in the toilet
Location. Friendly staff.
Cold showers. A lot of street noise. Loud construction onsite. No food onsite.
I loved Selina Oaxaca. My room was beautifully decorated (with a touch of quirky), clean & spacious & staff at the front desk were friendly & helpful. There's lots of bars, cafes, restaurants, shops & key sights in the neighbourhood & in-house yoga sessions daily (which I didn't get to). I booked a delightful facial & massage for my last night, set up in the downstairs "yoga room", so really quiet & spacious. The bar has a good drinks selection but didn't have evening meals or snacks during the week I was there.Highly recommend this lovely, character-filled, friendly & quiet boutique hotel.
Location was amazing, very central. The courtyard is beautiful and the room itself had a lot of sunlight
No noise reduction measures in place- particularly the balcony door had a gap underneath so I was woken by cars and music throughout the night. Shower water remained cold or lukewarm
Very friendly staff and big rooms.
I didn't have warm water in my shower but got a free breakfast due to the inconvenience.
Great location, nice decoration, good atmosphere. I liked the cafe/bar, the welcome drink and the free yoga class!
I did not realize it was a shared bathroom- I may have overlooked it when I booked. The room was nice but there was no real window,
Staff was courteous and helpful.
Wifi had intermittent issues and was not working. The AC control was not in the room so you have to go to the reception everytime you want to turn it on or off. Bathrooms do not have an exhaust fan or the window so the humidity stays in the room and gets unbearable. There was a drainage issue in the shower which they fixed but that should be done by regular maintenance and not wait till someone complains. The tour prices were literally double than what it actually costs. You can just go to a next block or two and book the same tour for half the price. SO DO NOT BOOK THE TOURS thru them, book it yourself.
The hotel is very old but quaint and the staff were great, very accommodating to our needs, beds were comfortable.
Although the location is very close to the zocalo it was very noisy with partying at night out on the street. The rooms require an upgrade, patio doors are original however not soundproof at all, very dull colours on the walls especially the bathrooms, needs some brighter colours.
