I like the quietness of the place.
I didn’t like the room, it had a bad smell, it was old, there was an old air conditioner that didn’t work. The food was very expensive and not worth it. Overall I do not recommend staying at this hotel.
Nice location, good breakfast (minus the coffee that could use some work), and generally friendly staff. Easy to get a cab to downtown or the airport from the hotel premise, or just a 15-20 minute walk to the centro.
The hotel is used frequently for big events, which is great, however our first few nights there were a few buses of kids for a sporting event. The kids were slamming doors and quite loud late into the night. The hotel didn't do anything about the noise and refused to do anything to make up for it the next day. We had just asked for 2 drink vouchers since we still had 5 nights at the hotel following which they told us wasn't possible. We like hotel victoria's location and staff, and have stayed their 4-5 times in the past, but will probably look elsewhere in the future following this trip.
The property was beautiful and peaceful. It was lovely coming back to our hotel after spending allday in the city or seeing sights outside the city. It was an easy walk into the centro area and about a $5 taxi ride back to the property.
We liked everything, especially ending our day at the bar and watching the city lights come alive at night, but if you’re looking for a modern, up-to-date hotel room, this is not your place. The rooms, however, are spacious and the beds are comfortable. We loved having a balcony so we could sit outside our room with our coffee in the morning.
The room was very comfortable. Beds were exactly how I like the mattress to be. View was great. No noise. The most friendly and helpful staff yiu can imagine. Easy access to downtown and other points of interest. Would definitely stay again.
Nothing. Everything is well worth it
Super friendly staff, great view of the city, overall good service.
Installations overall were old, bathroom smelled like sewage.
I really liked the friendly staff. The bar area is nice. Alejandro and the rest of the staff were very nice. Food is kind of spendy compared to in town. Loved the koi pond.
I upgraded to a nicer room, and the although clean, the furniture was pretty outdated. Bed was comfortable, but the biggest let down was the bathroom. The shower was like an old guy at the urinal. See video. Also, replace the sliding glass doors to the outside. The road noise and cycadas are loud regardless of door being closed. The pool is where I spent most of my time and the water seemed clean. Lots of missing tiles, but similar to the entire hotel, in need of a serious remodel.
The location is good, the staff are phenomenal, the food is great… as is the view
We couldd only get one key for 3 people.
The area was fantastic, the pool was fantastic - but reserve a spot early if you want to spend the day there as there are limited beds, the staff so friendly and kind. Everything was really clean and easy. I was really happy with our booking!
Most people stay in the city of Oaxax itself, but we wanted some relax time at the pool so we stayed up on the hill. It's only a 5 minute drive by taxi to get there and the hotel provide shuttles back and forth from 6PM so it's no problem. In the heat - it's totally worth it to have the pool!
Terrible - do not recommend
Strongly recommend against this property. We were a group of friends staying in 3 different rooms - one of the rooms my friend was in was super dated / had a strong smell and mold in multiple areas. Upon check in they immediately realized this and went to reception to explain how inhabitable it was. No other rooms were available so they chose to find a different hotel on short notice. They were told that they would only be charged for the first night and be refunded the next 2, but over the following days the hotel declined the request and worse still - wasted hours of our time trying to negotiate with them as they kept dragging it out and claimed that it was Booking.com's decision, while we were being told otherwise by the company. Extremely unprofessional and unacceptable behaviour. Even aside from this instance, all the rooms had terribly hard mattresses, broken/disgusting condition washrooms, old moldy carpets, and it is a long 20 minute walk to the main city center. I am not sure why it is well-rated - I picked it because of the ratings and thoroughly regret it.
Nice place. Definitely 5 star service. The Sunday breakfast was exceptional. The pool is huge. Location iseasy to get in and out of
WiFi access was via What’sApp. Only one key per guest. Pool shows it’s age ( first world problem considering it was huge and beautiful but the rest of the town was in much need of water.
An old worn tired hotel.
It’s an old run down hotel that’s seen better days. The air conditioning in the room is ancient and ineffective. The carpet is cheap and stained.
The bedroom Washington to noisy. I was not able to rest enough.
Noise from the staff and bus
Great service, friendly, clean - and the pool and gardens are lovely. (Some reviews complain that the pool needs updating. It's not pristine. But if you can stand a few chips in the concrete, it's a lot nicer than some more modern ones because it's spacious, meticulously cleaned, and surrounded by gardens. We loved it.) As others have said, some aspects of the hotel do have a rather worn and dated feel, not least the carpets which desperately need replacing. The plumbing could use some help as well. But it's a great deal, and we found it all charming.
The Victoria's location is a mixed blessing. We enjoyed having a retreat above and outside Centro, but walking between the two is a bit of an adventure because crossing the main road between them is hair-raising. Not a problem if you are relying on taxis or the shuttle bus. We did walk it quite a few times in the cooler parts of the day and got used to it. (Easier btw to walk to beautiful Xochimilco, which is closer and does not require crossing the big road).
Lovely gardens beautiful view of the city. Rooms were clean. Bathrooms need updating.
It was difficult to climb up and down to the restaurant and pool area. The pool was in disrepair and it was a shame because all it needed was some tile work. Breakfast in the restaurant was lovely.
I like the room and the food, the hospitality was great.
The greeting staff like Fernando and Mario , Francisco in the restaurant are some of the few great employees left in that hotel and they had made our stay pleasant for many many years.
The rooms are in desperate need of an upgrade. The bathroom titles are old and some are missing. The faucet are lose and overall seem old. The windows do not completely close so we got a lot of mosquitos in the room. The front desk workers are cold and disconnected. They changed our reservation to a lower category for the first night at the last minute without explanation.
I previously reviewed my stay at the hotel but missed to include a couple of items:- The room didn't have dark curtains, the sunlight came into the room at 6:00am very bright, not allowing us to sleep any longer. Please install dark curtains in all rooms for a better sleep.- In general, the staff was nice, but the service at the bar was slow, the pool was crowded, and nobody came to check on guests for food/drinks service. Service needs improvement!
