- Very well located , the staff is very friendly
- I had a wonderful time during my stay. The staff and guests were all so friendly, and I felt truly welcomed. My room included a refrigerator, which was very convenient for keeping food and drinks cold.I met many travelers from around the world who shared stories about the city and their countries, making my experience even richer. One important note for future guests: the gate closes after 11 p.m. I panicked a little when I returned late, but the security guard—a very kind man—showed me the bell so I could get inside. Thanks to his help, everything worked out smoothly.Overall, it was a great stay filled with kindness, comfort, and connection. ?
- The staff at this place are truly lovely, kind and helpful. It is like staying in a family place where so much care is given to the property and the guests. We definitely plan to go back! When requesting a room, ask for one in the courtyard, which gets lots of sun and has beautiful gardens.
Cons -
- I didn’t had breakfast there , I cannot give an opinion
- The room was a bit small and breakfast options were limited to bread, cornflakes and coffee. Parking in a nearby parking lot was pricey.
- No hot water in the shower at 7am. Door locks didn't work properly.

We enjoyed the very pleasant courtyards outside of the room. The staff were friendly and helpful. Quiet except for the occasional airplane. A short walk to Jalatlaco and the Ethnobotanical Garden. Good value.

Quiet friendly staff.
No hot water in the shower at 7am. Door locks didn't work properly.
We liked everything, the people who run it are incredibly professional and cannot do any more for you, which feels pretty unique. The community feel at the common areas is palpable and makes your stay much more welcoming/shareable (you're not a stranger in a big hotel). The location is unmatched. Close to all cool places of interest but at the same time not noisy.
Simply outstanding atmosphere, the staff kindness was a warm welcoming in my first trip to Oaxaca. It’s perfect if you are travelling alone, since you will meet a community of very interesting guests who are choosing Las Mariposas since many years for their holidays in town. The location is definitely one of the best, very close to the heart of Oaxaca, and despite that, at night my room was very silent and peaceful.I couldn’t chose a better place to spend my vacation, and I will definitely come back in the future!
I liked everything, really I can’t have a single negative comment.
very nice staff, comfortable rooms and beautiful garden. It is a place for longer stay for some elder people but they are very nice and friendly. Even if it is not reported you have breakfast offered and the nice common kitchen is useful if you stay longer.
The Mariposas is very popular with quite a few long term guests. With many public areas for outside seating it is a social place. The staff and management are excellent. My room was quiet and away from traffic. Kitchen available for guests.
People might expect more from breakfast, but many nearby spots for hot breakfast. There was a drought so had to conserve water.
A wonderful peacful, place in an otherwise busy location. The staff is exceptional and I appreciated their committment to Eco-tourism. This is my new favorite place! I look forward to my next stay.
I can't think of a single concern.
Location was great. Room was clean. It was a joy to awake to hot coffee and pastries right out in the hotel courtyard. Check in was easy even for being late at night and they let us keep our bags at the office for a while.
The bed was not winning any comfort points
Very green, clean and friendly staff
Breakfast could be a bit better. However for the price it’s definitely worth it.
Beautiful courtyards. Nice staff.
Breakfast sure could use a bit of fruit.
Beautiful courtyards, charming rooms. Very ecological. Clean with nice towels and linen. Nice touches: loaner hats, umbrellas and bags.
Although the property itself is very peaceful it is located on a busy street and you hear traffic almost all night.
Premium location, nice staff, nice courtyard, basic breakfast but free (there’s a nice coffee shop and pastry shop right on the corner though)
Breakfast options are limited, you might not get the bedding you ask (double room or 2 single beds as availability may vary without prior notice).
Excellent location, great price even in the busiest season. The views to the garden are fantastic, people is nice, space in the room was super confortable
For one night, I didn't have chance to find anything bad.
The staff was so friendly and helpful, breakfast was great, and the place was just so beautiful - a true oasis in the city.
- really cute hotel- great location- unique rooms- no AC, as I don't like loud AC noise- friendly staff- resident dog- super cute courtyard- quiet but close enough to city destinations
The room had all of the amenities needed - outlets and light switches at the bed sides, hanging closet storage & shelves, on-demand hot-water, air conditioning & a fan. The common spaces were beautiful & cozy. The staff was friendly and present.
Las Mariposas was really what I was looking for--small operation and affordable for a short stay. As the other comments noted it's pretty warm without air conditioning but I expected that when I booked. The outdoor spaces were very pleasant (and cooler!). Great wifi and appreciated that they provided drinking water. I enjoyed the simple breakfast and generally felt like it would have been a very welcoming place for a solo traveler to stay for a couple of days. Good location, too. The staff were also really great about letting me leave my bags for a few hours on check-out day. Would recommend!
Maybe adding a standing/table fan in addition to the ceiling fan, but I knew I'd chosen a place without air conditioning!
