Pros +
- Great staff, restaurant good, cool decor
- very friendly staff
- Pros: The room was updated nicely, was spacious and had a pretty view of the square. The location in regards to walkability was great! The restaurant beneath also had a good breakfast.
Cons -
- Very noisy at night room faced out on what sounded like a dragstrip at 1:00 AM. No hot water in the morning and the outlet by the bed was dead.
- Cons: The location, next to a very loud nightclub meant we didn’t sleep for 3 nights (Saturday, Sunday, Monday). We didn’t ask to switch rooms because we thought maybe it was just a Saturday thing, but no. Also, If it wasn’t the nightclub sound, it was car traffic from the busy road out front. Unfortunately, we wouldn’t choose this hotel again based on the noise level.
- Noise from a raucous gay bar down the plaza was a big problem at first, and it went on blaring til the middle of the night. Erenira said she had tried everything she could think of to get them to lower the volume, and we expected pay-offs had been made. Then, in the middle of our weekend stay, after Erendira had paid them another visit, the loud music somehow subsided.

The hotel was a converted, spacious old building, right between the Centro Historico and the Colonia Americana. It bordered on a plaza with an old church catty-corner on the plaza It had a lovely and restaurant inside and cafe in the front--great for breakfast, with a very popular all-you-ca-eat buffet on the weekends. It felt completely safe.We stayed in the Tamayo suite, fancifully modeled with the famous artist in mind (though it stuck me as more Barragan than Tamayo). It had a free-standing copper bathtub in a small room adjacent to the bathroom (two sinks!) separated by a wall with two big portholes. The manager, Erendira, was outstanding. When our bus from San Pacho/Sayulita was cancelled because a truckers' strike had "closed" Guadalajara, she managed to turn up friends there who sometimes drove up to Guadalajara and offered to arrange for them to take us the next day. When we wanted tickets to the Calavanderia, a temporary Dia de los Muertos Theme park, and learned they were all sold out, she had a friend who was a designer for the affair and somehow found us a pair of tickets. When we could only buy then via a bank transfer, she made the payment herself until we could reimburse her in cash. She was invariably cheerful, knowledgeable, and friendly in handling all of our other questions and needs as well. She was, in short, the BEST.

the bed was very comfortable. The staff are wonderful! Love that there are plants again on the wall!
need railings on those stairs. Also maybe paint them a different colour. The black makes it difficult to see where they start and stop.
The rooms were comfortable. The bed was excellent. The proximity to the historic Centro was convenient. The hotel has a young funky vibe which is fun
There is a cafe in an open interior courtyard. It can be quite loud during the day. There was also an outdoor cafe below the terrace of our room. They had live music which was nice but it went on rather late. We had an early flight so that was irritating. The biggest shortcoming is the lack of a coffee station in the room or lobby. The cafe opens at 8:00 so if your plans are earlier you are out of luck
Central location, friendly staff, comfortable room
Needed more drinking water
The breakfast was buffet and extensive. It appears popular with locals. The location of the hotel itself is central and pedestrian friendly.
It is run down and needs an update. The elevator wasn't working.
love the location have stayed there a few times.
they need railings on the stairs. its a hazzard.
Fantastic location. Near to many of the local restaurants and events.
Elevator was inoperable during my stay.
Very clean and near to downtown, all was great, i even had a balcony!! And the restaurant was very good!.
Is close to a lot of interesting places, restaurants, stores,metro..
I travel with my sister, she uses a walker, and can barely climb stairs, I called and asked if they have an elevator, they said yes,but never mentioned it wasn't working(has not worked in years, according with staff) the front desk person...(Sergio) Was very rude, several times. Marcos and Lucy were such a great people and very helpful, always eager to help.
Unique style with comfortable affordable rooms. Perfect location off of popular street and attractions.
Property may be a bit noisy due to its popularity, but location of rooms manage to dampen noise so as not to be too inconvenient.
It was in a good location. A lot of attractions were walking distance. The restaurant Chai was good.
All of the hotel noise can be heard in the room. You could hear the staff singing early in the morning to guests dining until 11 which is closing. Throughout the night you will hear a very loud blind pedestrian crosswalk chirp.
The restaurant attached to the hotel was good, excellent coffee. The beds were comfy, the rooms clean. Nice location near the University and the Historic District. Easy to get places. Nearby restaurants were great
The elevator didn't work, no problem, except the stairs and hallway were really dark. The front desk was not always helpful, sometimes even surly. The concierge was non-existent. Rooms were smaller than expected. No way to heat water, such as coffeemaker.
The room was nice and tidy, very clean. The hotel is in at an excellent location in the centro within walking distance to nice restaurants and the main sights.
We stayed Friday to Sunday and our hotel room was extremely noisy. We live in a city normally so are used to street noise. However, there is a restaurant underneath (with no seperation between the hallway and the guest rooms) which made it impossible to sleep in. Also there was noise until midnight. This is not a hotel you should choose if you want to relax in the room a bit or a light sleeper, but ok if you are out and about until late.Personally, I didn't feel very welcome either. The Restaurant seems more important to this business.
Nice employers and perfect area to visit Guadalajara..
Lot of noise and they need to remodel/maintenance the bedrooms. Also, coffe machine in bedroom because stores don t open before 7.30am or 8am.
Location is great.Tea shop/restaurant right outside is great.
You have to make your own parking arrangements, if you drive there.
beautiful room and decor
location , very noisy room. the restaurant downstairs it’s very noisy and stays open until late . room adjacent to the indoor dining room
The hotel is in walking distance from the historic center, stores, restaurants, banks and shops. Chai is the cafe restaurant downstairs it has both indoor and outdoor seating. They have a nice buffet spread on the weekends for breakfast-brunch. They also have an a la carte menu with a variety of foods, cafe drinks and bar options to satisfy most. The hotel staff I encountered were helpful they carried up my luggage to my room, fixed an issue I had with the tv reception, brought my order to my room and towels when requested. The restaurant staff was friendly, as well.
The room I booked was overlooked the street side and there are 2 bars on the same block. Unfortunately, you can hear the music and bar fights from across the street into the early hours of the morning. I recommend using sleep sounds to muffle the noise.
