Pros +
- The design, the art and the bath in the room was amazing!
- Clean, Modern, beautiful architecture, great food and lovely roomy room.
- Hotel Demetria is located in the wonderful Colonia Lafayette neighborhood, within easy walking distance of excellent restaurants and cafes. The hotel has a sleek, modern boutique aesthetic that’s visually appealing.
Cons -
- When I arrived I was told I needed to pay when I already thought I did with your website. Then the hotel AC was not working, there was no room service available. The pool was closed and the jacuzzi was cold. They were doing construction, I got overcharged
- For the price point ($400ish/night), several aspects fell short: We were provided only one complimentary water bottle per day and expected to purchase more. Coffee was not included. Our room had only AC, no heat - staff offered blankets when we mentioned being cold. The rooftop area looked lovely but was rarely open during our stay, so we couldn’t enjoy sunset views with wine served as hoped. Front desk staff were polite but seemed disinterested in providing local recommendations for coffee shops and running routes. The hotel felt quite empty during our stay.

Nearly ruined our wedding week...
Nearly ruined our wedding week – worst hospitality and weirdest hotel we've ever experienced. Read this entire review before booking! We have stayed at Demetria twice, most recently for our wedding week (including our guests). We encountered so many issues that I can say unequivocally Demetria has the worst customer service of any hotel I've ever stayed at. As context, this was an international Mexican-American wedding where most of the guests are Mexican or Spanish speakers. The hotel itself is impractical, pretentious, and too expensive for what you get.- The rooms are way too dark. Everything is dimly lit to the point of dysfunction and being hazardous.- The room designs are bizarre and vary wildly. E.g., showers, beds, and toilets right next to each other with no privacy, random dangerous steps you can't see because everything is colored black, giant TV stands protruding in the middle of the room at eye level, no closets or real storage – expect a single exposed clothing rack that could be in the middle of your bathroom.- The doors are motel quality and have gaps at the top, so you can see into the hallways (and vice versa) and hear every sound your neighbors make. It was disruptive and felt unsecure.- The rooms lack basic amenities. Many safes didn't work, there is minimal counter space/storage in the rooms, and forget about an iron, ironing board, or hair dryer. I've seen inside the Demetria storage closest myself, and there are maybe 6 total irons available for the entire building.- The A/C units don't work. The touchpad controls are just decorative. Changing the temps does nothing. Every room was freezing- The Wi-Fi is bad. Some rooms effectively have 1-bar of connection speed or none at all. Don't expect to work from your room.- Pool and bar areas look cool but no one works there or attends them.
Major hospitality/booking issues. Be warned...
Hospitality and booking issues are whereWe had a MASSIVE overbooking disaster that was handled poorly by management. Despite our guests booking Demetria Tower Suite rooms several months in advance, the hotel overbooked due to a city conference/expo going on that week. When our guests arrived, many were told their rooms were unavailable and were going to be forcibly moved to an entirely different "affiliated" property called: “Demetria Bungalows,” multiple blocks away. This is unacceptable for any hotel, let alone during someone's wedding week. Worse:- Staff were dismissive, argumentative and showed zero empathy- We spent over 4 hours on our welcome night arguing with them and on the phone with Expedia (Demetria would ignore Expedia's calls).- My wife and her sister cried from the stress- The Bungalows is clearly inferior (look it up, it's more like a dingy hostel or Airbnb) yet they still tried to charge Demetria prices- Only after hours of chaos did they “allow” some guests to move into Demetria suites – if they paid more of course.- This was mismanagement and, honestly, felt fraudulent. Fortunately, Expedia later acknowledged the situation as improper and compensated the affected guests.Other examples:- The manager chastised my wife – on the day of our wedding IN HER WEDDING DRESS for taking a couple of hallway photos before she left. Because “hotel policy does not allow photos inside.” Give me a break dude.- Months before our arrival, my wife had pre-booked their conference room on the second floor which has good lighting for her and the other girls to do their makeup and hair. The day of the wedding, they moved her to a different poorly lit bad room, likely because they overbooked. It was very difficult for them to do their hair and made the getting ready pictures worse. Disappointing.- Generally, the Front desk is unhelpful.

A boutique hotel with great rooms and attentive staff.
The building design is great, and the location is excellent. My first room was quite dark, but the staff were helpful and allowed me to switch to a sunnier one.
Cleanliness is lacking, and the property feels poorly maintained. There’s no breakfast or room service. The gym is small and just average—nothing special.
I went to book the hotel on booking and it said it was US$200 a night and then when it charged my account, it was 300, $300 a night for a hotel in Guadalajara is a complete rip off.
The architecture is stunning, great staff, great location, the manager did the right thing after my first nightmarish night and I was upgraded.... one bad night... one good night.
One week before my arrival, I upgraded my room to a bigger room with a balcony. When I checked in I got a small room with no balcony. After showing my Booking.com receipt I was "downgraded" to probably the worst room of the hotel with a balcony; beside the elevator, above the car entrance with a balcony door that does not lock - real security issue. after a sleepless night, I complaint and I was move to a stunning corner suite with it own balcony.I like it simple... but 3 rooms for two nights is too much drama even if the hotel is an architecture marvel.
Had a very bad experience at check-in. Arrived at around 2:30- 2:40 Pm. Process was normal (although the least cordial possible - very surprising for Guadalajara) except a curious handling of a deposit for charges (why not simply ask straithforwardly for CC as in any hotel and that´s it?). We were told to wait for the room. After a while (10-15 mns) I asked what was the matter. All checking papers and keys were lined up in a desk behind the corner. I deduced all was ready but the answer was that they had to wait for the authorization on the final inspection of the room!!!!!!! Had to wait a while more. I exploded because the same answer came back and the manager was "busy". The young man disappeared. A young woman showed up to replace him. Obviously she had been informed.... Nothing happened and I had to bang on the counter to get some attention. We got our room maybe at 3:15. It is clear to me that someone had given instructions not to give the room before the 3:00 check in time. With the image, glamour etc of Demetria I was not expecting this unbelievable service!! I finally managed to see the manager on the way out, a very nice and helping young woman who said she was going to look into it and get back to me. During our discussion the young man was present and did not open his mouth. To date, I haven´t heard from them......

Staff, pretty, clean rooms, good area.
Slow elevators Can hear people in the hallways very easy
I liked the bed and the silence that is felt
I signed up on the booking app and asked for an urban room with one bedroom and they gave me double. Bed
The beds were comfortable
The pool was very dirty. The staff made us pay a $3000 pesos deposit for our stay in CASH. They wouldn’t take my debit card, credit card, or even the credit card on file. They didn’t provide us with a proof of deposit until 20 mins later when we got to our room and went back to ask for it. They said they “forgot” to give it to us.
Location, helpful staff
Room design was hazardous - bed on platform with nowhere to safely step out of
Location maybe
The rooms were awful, there was no slippers, I had to call for a hairdresser, the shampoo& gel were outside the shower. The tv is in the middle of the room, and easy to hit yourself with one of the corners. The place were the put the towels were not fixed so I bump into one of the bars and hit myself with a huge bruise now
Beautiful architecture Looked like living in an art galleryExtremely helpful and courteous staffExcellent food
Our upgraded room was huge & comfortable but with a few quirky features (complicated shower faucets & bathroom tripping hazard) but overall very nice.
We were not given the type of room I was expecting at check-in (balcony), but after the first night we were upgraded to a very nice corner room with outdoor terrace. Very good customer service with upgrade.
The hotel has a great location and a very friendly staff. My room was amazing.
The cost of items in the bar and no coffee in the rooms.
the architecture is striking
The high price is not justified by the services and amenities provided. Breakfast should be included at this price. When we arrived, staff were not helpful and would not allow taxi to drop us off by the door. Room wasn’t cleaned even though we were out all day.
