Pros +
- This hostel was quiet and gave me a good night's rest. I also met some really cool people in my room, despite it being quiet. Bar was nice for ordering drinks and convenient and I had gnarly food poisoning and the staff stayed up with me in the lobby and helped me order medicine and electrolytes. I don't know if I would have survived it without them helping me out!
- Loved the staff, lounge areas were great, lockers were good. The Rooftop bar and welcome Margherita was very nice. Great location for Centro and Zocalo. We booked on the day and they were very accommodating.
- The property is outstanding regarding location and structure. It was always clean and I had a good place to work.
Cons -
- The bathroom was smelly and I think it's because there just wasn't good air flow. We shut the door in the shared room at night and it wasn't that big of an issue...but not the best thing. Also, I noticed they didn't have many events going on when I was there or if they did, it didn't seem popular and/or advertised. Pretty slow and quiet place. But, still had a really social time there.
- The shower room in the dorms had bad ventilation so it smelt quite bad sometimes. The top bunks are very short so not the most comfortable. The kitchen could do with being a little bigger considering the size of the hostel, only one small fridge as well. Quite a tight area to cook and clean, only really good one person at a time. Also someone stole our eggs even though they were labelled. Not the hostel's fault but quite annoying.
- Some things were vanishing in the common areas in the property, specially in the kitchen. There was always the excuse that the cameras weren’t working, than I saw them on the TV. The other one that was a blind spot in the camera besides the fridge or that they weren’t recording. I would advice to be extra careful with your personal belongings.

Great vibes..restaurant up stairs for drinks and eats
Wish there had been a chair in the room to sit and change ..but that managed
Enjoyed our stay in Casa Pepe. The location was very convenient, with a lot of good places to eat in and the Zocalo within a 10min walk (super good tacos right across the hotel!). The staff was very helpful and the room was thoughtfully laid out and spacious enough for 2 people with huge pieces of luggage. It was located right by a very busy street, but surprisingly we had very peaceful nights and we are able to sleep well. Love the roof deck restaurant ant it was great that they have these daily activities arranged for their guests. Would stay here again when we visit Mexico again!
The breakfast that comes with the room could be a bit better or have more options since we are also paying additional for that.
The hostel is in a beautiful historic building. The capsule bed was comfortable with a privacy curtain. Locker was a good size. Roof bar and dining area nice. Entertainment and drinks special was cool. Working area in the lobby was convenient.. Astrid, the host when I was there was very nice and helpful. Convenient elevator and storage area. Multiple shower rooms to use.
Curtain in capsule kept falling off and it gets warm in there. There should be at least a chair in the room to put shoes on. The toilet and shower area is separate---very inconvenient.
Beds so comfortable , location, price A cool terrace , staff very friendly
The bad was so nice
Central LocationClean bathrooms Staff was AMAZING Very comfortable beds Very engaging team Really get a feel for Mexico City Always something planned each day and night
Right in the centro, it was perfect to see around and the private room was clean.
When we arrive, nobody explained to us how to get around the hostel and the activities as if they didn’t want us to show up. Not a lot of ambiance.
excellent location, staff very helpfull and friendly
noisy streets.
- free drinking water for refilling - Comfortable bed- Locker large- Private bathroom in the dorm (6-bed dorm)- Very nice staff- shower has hot water- enough toilet paper, soap, shower gel and shampoo available - Location very good- Public areas for chilling/working very good- Walking tours in the morning good!
- Wifi was not consistently good- The evening programs did not appeal to me - rather noisy due to the street and the little isolation
The spotless rooms with a balcony, rooftop terrace/bar, tastefully decorated common areas, the staff, especially the two girls working in the reception are it's greatest asset.
Stuff left behind by guests, or picked up by the cleaning staff isn't kept or stored.
Great location if you want to be close to the historic center. Easy access to a multitude of interesting landmarks and other places. Great for those that would love to wander and walk in such an exciting place, like Mexico City.
Small community kitchen.
Close to downtown center and public transportation
The bed was uncomfortable. I have the worst back pain. Also there was a weird smell coming from the pipes.
It’s a great hostel and the rooms are very comfortable, spacious and clean.
Noise from the street. There is no AC or fans in the rooms so the window must be open all the time. As the hostel is in centro the noise from the street can become a bit too much. Still loved it though!
The beds are very clean, every bed has a curtain as well. There are fun activities every day and a rooftop bar.
There’s no ventilation in the bathrooms so the bathrooms (and rooms) kinda stink all the time. The road is very noisy, especially when the windows are open because there is no fan or AC.
The rooms are cute, comfy and big enough for people to have bags without being cramped. The rooftop is awesome! The co-work area is fantastic for working during the day or evening. I personally adventured during the day and worked in the evening. ** There is filtered water in the kitchen!! ** Kitchen is super cute and has every thing you need. Location is perfect tbh. 5 min walk to anything Centro Historico and bus stations. The Staff are all just fantastic and welcoming. There are walking tours, attraction events and events on the roof each day/night.
Bathroom: The shower room smelled quite bad. This might just be Centro plumbing though. The area has super old plumbing. Maybe an air freshener in each shower. Noice: the party that takes place each night on the roof can be heard all over the hostel. If you need to get up early I suggest some earplugs. I wore AirPods Pro and was ok. **That being said the roof is closed at 11pm and the place is really quiet after that**
Hmm not great.* unfomfortable beds* hot rooms* lots of noice from outside every minute* cockroaches* missing basic facilities * very small bathroom* half of the staff didn’t understand English or wasn’t helpful and even not that intelligent* my bag was taken away out of my room by a cleaning lady, because it supposedly was in the wrong locker* couldn’t even eat my self-prepared food on the rooftop, because supposedly it’s all part of the restaurant. Is this a hostel or a hotel!? So I had to eat it in the coworking area, in between all the computers.I’d say it’s social tho and lots of activities which I didn’t do.
I love casa pepe!! favorite spot to stay in CDMX!! amazign vibes, comfy rooms and close to all the main attractions. they put on sooo many events, you'll stay busy for days!!
I loved it so much i kept rebookig. I moved from a different hostel back to casa pepe bc it was the best!!!
The reception & bar/restaurant staff was very kind and professional. The working area was great. Free tours were fun.
Unfortunately, we did not have toilet paper and soap in my room for two days, even though I had mentioned it day 1
