Pros +
- The staff really tried to make up for the terrible initial arrival experience where an older man tried to pull my passport out of my hand.
- The location is very good, the staff was friendly, welcome drink was big and tasty))The room was clean. I had a free upgrade because the room I booked was busy. Thank you, I really liked it!The coworking space is big with many options where to sit. I would book again!
- The accommodation is very central. However, that is the only positive thing I can say about.
Cons -
- The night guard trying to force me to give him my passport, physically trying to pull it out of my hand.
- The hostel as a whole was very dirty. There were ants and other insects in our room, both in the bathroom and in the sleeping area. According to reception, the bed had been freshly made, but there were still foreign hairs, brown stains and a hole in the bed linen. There were still dead mosquitoes on the walls and the drain stank extremely of faeces. The service was very dodgy. We waited several times over 30 minutes for breakfast. Our breakfast was included, however we had to pay to get milk for the coffee, which is a absolut no go. By far the worst accommodation compared to other Selinas. Especially as we had stomach pains and discomfort after breakfast. The recommended drinking water from the kitchen also smells extremely of chlorine and does not seem to be suitable for drinking. We would not recommend it for this price.
- Worst hostel in Ciudad de México ! Don’t come here. There is no cleaning in the rooms, main areas, the kitchen is disgusting, the tools to cook are broken, no mugs, no soap, no nothing!! The fridges don’t even work

WORST PLACE TO STAY. I booked since November 2023 my stay on June 2024, when I first arrived the receptionist (male) wasn’t able to find my payment via booking and he told me to pay again and get in contact with booking for a refund with a horrible and rude attitude, I had to tell him please contact your manager because I’m not paying again and you need to contact booking not me, then they were able to find the payment, the check-in was at 3 pm, it was 3:30 pm and the room wasn’t ready, I woke up at 2 am to get to CDMX and at 3:30 pm my room wasn’t available INCREDIBLE, of course I complained and they changed me to a better room that was available, the only person that was nice with me was Arturo, the manager never talked to me, then I left some of my clothes for them to clean of course I pay for it, well they LOST my clothes I had to wait more than 40 minutos at the reception on Sunday for them to tell me, hey we are sorry we lost your clothes :), now since MONDAY today is Wednesday I’m waiting for my REFUND and they just Can say “I don’t know let me talk with my manager” bro, WORST PLACE TO STAY, the lost my clothes and I have to wait more than 3 days for my refund, unbelievable, oh and the “activities” for the guests some of them you have to pay to be part of it! They did like a runway for something like that I wanted to go for a drink and for you to pass you had to pay like $4, DONT STAY HERE. I’m still waiting for my refund :).
The location is great

Outdoor spaces
Very dirty, shared kitchen was nasty. my bathroom for my room was never cleaned from the previous night of partying. Staff not that helpful and friendly
Good location, great service staff, party rooftop, bar & kitchen
Housekeeping needs to clean everyday the common bathrooms
Super central to the historical district, if you’re happy walking everything is around there. Co working is a great environemnt and handy in property
Our rooms fan didn’t work and the curtains wouldn’t close so sadly we woke every morning with the sunrise and the room was very warm. We couldn’t open our windows because the street was quite loud. Co working tables could use a couple more wipe downs!
Have during the last years several times stayed at Selina and every time been very satisfied. Especially like and enjoy the atmosphere and the mixed crowd from backpackers to families and with a lot of nice facilities like kitchen, coworking space, restaurant, bar etc etc. The location on top is slam bang just a short walk from many of the major sights in the center of the city
Even if I try to, I can`t come of anything
Location
1) I got a dirty bed on my first night. It was not cleaned after the previous guest.2) Windows in my room didn't close.3) Common bathrooms look like a ruin. Showerheads are usually broken. How water comes after 5 minutes.4) Dormitory rooms on the street side are EXTREMELY loud. Day and night. Windows cannot be closed.5) The hostel is not as social as expected. There is an old event schedule but many of these events don't take place. Staff has no idea what kind of an event they have on a certain day.6) The staff are demotivated, not communicative and extremely unreliable in a weird way. They can say yes now and no 3 seconds later. One can never believe them.7) The laundry service is terrible. I had to wait 1.5 days and they lost my socks.
close proximity to city center and metro station
the hallways are too darkI had to ask for toilet paper twice because the room was never cleaned during the duration of the stayThe soap bottle were almost empty.
Bad
I arrived at the hostel the night of the reservation and was told that it was full. I was turned away by Selina. I now see that I was charged for this booking regardless.
My first hostel I have ever stayed in. Was a very pleasant experience. The staff spoke some English and were extremely helpful. It was well located to Centro historico
It wasn't that social. I didn't really meet people as I had expected. All the people that stayed in my room spoke Spanish only
Big shout out to Adrian at front desk for sorting me out. Had an awesome stay. Great people and vibes. Suite was spacious and clean. Views were perfect.
Really friendly staff, great trips bookable from the desk. Fun things to do at night. Cats!! The coffee downstairs. The bar next door for tacos and drinks.
Often the bathrooms were not as clean as I would have hoped. The cat litter tray on the fourth to fifth floor stairs needed cleaning more regularly for the cats benefit too!
SCAM - do NOT visit this property. This is not like a normal Selina. The rooms look nothing like the pictures and there are lots of rats nearby.
Upon arrival we were shown to our room which already had people inside. They then panicked and showed us to another room which was a large room with barely anything in it and run down. There was NO hot water. When we asked if we could have a different room or a move elsewhere to a different hotel, the staff assured us that they would refund us and even sent proof that they had, confirming it would take 3-5days. After 5-6 days there was no refund and when I got in touch with the property I was send extremely rude messages suggesting I was lying that the refund had not come through. When I asked for further proof that the refund had been initiated, they send me a random receipt of some money going to an account that was not mine. When I told them this they again suggested I was lying and were extremely rude, messaging in capital letters. After some more back and forth they told me I actually had to get in touch with booking.com to confirm the refund, when I did this, and booking.com contacted them they either ignored them, or lied to say we shouldn’t get a refund. They further confirmed they had already done the refund on their side which was obviously a lie. Awful experience and they have stopped responding.
Great service, great location, super clean, comfortable, nice bathroom. AMAZING VIEW of the city!
Maybe add some toiletries and airport shuttle.
Staff were friendly and accommodating where possible. It is cheap, but you get what you pay for.
Noisy - rooms on the 1st floor are above the hotel/hostel's night club (which they don't mention at check-in) so it's impossible to sleep through the bass and vibration. Guests are also noisy and the walls thin, so even when we managed to change room we still did not sleep.Dirty - bed sheets looked clean but that was about it. Bathroom was covered in hair, stains in the sink and toilet, and the floor was also covered in hair, dust, pins, dirt, etc. Room smelled like cigarette smoke, either because of the precious guest or because the window didn't close(!). The walls were also patched up and not repainted, it was overall very run down and not well maintained. Area - the area felt unsafe compared to other areas of Mexico City. We spent the rest of our stay in Zona Rosa, which despite being a lively area for nightlife was still a much quieter and more pleasant stay than downtown.Cost - while our room was a "good" price for a budget, you can book nicer hotels for a similar price in better areas of the city.
Nice size bedroom with private shower. Location is strategic to get around, but not the best neighborhood to walk around at night.
The overall maintance and cleaning leaves much to be desired. The place is very run down. I had to go to the reception to ask for toilet paper and soap cause there was no room keeping.Every single night same hostel residents hanged around the kitchen talking loud, smoking and leaving dirty dishes and tables.Definitely not one of the good Selinas.
The Design is pretty nice and it’s quite calm for a hostel. They always have activities and really try to engage their guests! Bilal and Andrew do a great job.
The furniture are quite worn, especially the bathroom facilities. You have to be aware that the hostel is next to a very busy street and it can get quite noisy during the night. Furthermore it always smells a bit like mold when you enter the room …
