Not accessible by car and steep /Hazardous ramp to hotel entrance

The hotel was very close to some popular attractions and plenty of restaurants.

The entrance to the hotel is up a few cobble stone stairs up a hill which was a bit difficult to get luggage up. Also, the street that the hotel islocatedon, Ubers and taxis are not allowed to drive on so we were dropped off at the bottom of the hill.

Breakfast was very good and the location is very nice. Hotel staffs are very helpful, especially Omar.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The location was excellent—conveniently situated and very close to public transportation, which made getting around easy and stress-free. The staff truly stood out; everyone was welcoming, attentive, and eager to help, making me feel right at home. I would absolutely recommend this hotel and would be happy to stay here again.

I had an absolutely amazing stay at this hotel and couldn’t recommend it more. The location alone is unbeatable—right in the center of Istanbul and within walking distance to some of the city’s most iconic historical sites. Being able to step outside and immediately immerse myself in the culture, history, and energy of the city made the experience truly special.The hotel itself was beautiful, clean, and incredibly comfortable, but what truly set this stay apart was the staff. Omer and Melike went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect from start to finish. They were warm, welcoming, and always ready to help with anything we needed. Their kindness and professionalism made us feel genuinely cared for and at home.Every detail of the stay exceeded expectations, and it’s clear that this hotel takes pride in both its service and guest experience. If you’re looking for an amazing hotel in a prime location with outstanding staff, this is the place to stay. I would absolutely return and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Istanbul.

WAY to noisy. Hard to get to with luggage

Everything was excellent, breakfast, room with a view of Hagia Sophia mosque, amazing staff, Omer who was so helpful that for a moment I thought he was our personal butler ( thank you for being so attentive) and for all the questions and concerns there are Hakan and Murat at the reception desk.

The bathroom had some issues (shower door did not close and toilet was not ideal).

The location is impossible to beat, especially for a first time in Istanbul. The staff was so kind and helpful, big thanks to Enes and Omer for helping us from beginning to end. The room is clean, comfortable, and spacious. Everything you need for a great stay.

The property was centrally located right outside of the two tram areas, walking distance to everything and very clean and organized comfortable bed! Also, the staff was grand very helpful!

The things we liked the most about the hotel:The location - evidently superb.The breakfast - great both in terms of selection and quality of food. They serve a platter with multiple savory and sweet foods (who watches turkish series will know what I mean ?) and then eggs made by way of choosing. There are also different kinds of tea, coffee and freshly sqeezed juice.The staff - they are one of most hospitable people I have ever met, and I have been coming to Turkey (known for its hospitability) for years so my criteria is quite high. They were great: from helping us get from the airport to the hotel, welcoming us, being extremely kind and attentive to our every need during our stay, letting us have a couple of hours later check out and helping us with the transport back to the airport. The housekeeping staff is fast and efficient and keeps the room very clean and tidy (special shout-out to the very kind and friendly Belgin). We are very grateful to the reception staff and waiters for their hard work in making our stay great and especially to Mert, who made each day with his friendly demeanor, offers to help and bringing us unlimited amounts of coffee and tea. ?All in all, I highly recommend Hotel Saint Sophia.

Very central location. Lovely breakfast included. The staff is amazing! So helpful. Had umbrellas for us when it rained. Helped with cars and taxis. Anything we needed we could ask.

It’s an older property so there is a bit of a struggle with hot water in the morning and you are very close to the speakers for the call to prayer which when we stayed started at about 6:30am.

The hotel is in a UNESCO heritage area and is a little difficult to get to but the perfect location makes up for it

Too far to bring the luggage to the taxi area.

Walking distance to important historic sites with Sophia Mosque less than 1 minute away. Attentive staff. Outstanding breakfast starts the day. Chef prepares great eggs using various techniques. That is in addition to being served traditional Turkish breakfast foods. Our room had good view of Sophia Mosque. Bed was Comfortable with a small desk facing the mosque.

Room needed a bit more luggage space for us.

The Location was fantastic. Our room had the most amazing view of the Hagia Sofia . All the staff were so friendly and accommodating. They were also very informative about the sights and arranging transportation.The breakfasts was great with fresh juices and pancakes. Watching the queues for the Basilica Cistern while sipping a cool drink at the terrace bar was a fun experience

The location was very close to the attractions we wanted to see and the place was cute overall. The breakfast was lovely - we were served a tray with several meats, cheeses, olives, and more, plus a choice of a meal and tea or coffee or juice. The staff were very wonderful and kind and provided suggestions and help whenever we needed it. Since taxis cannot drive up to the entrance, the staff requests that you give their contact to your driver before arrival and for pick-up so they can direct the driver to a recommended drop off area and help get your luggage etc (we ended up not using this service but I appreciated knowing they were happy to help). We were offered delicious pomegranate juice upon our late night arrival, and they kindly brought us Turkish coffee in the morning upon request, as well as nice tea in the afternoon when we came back and wanted to rest in the lobby. The room itself was small but cute. I forgot to utilize this but they had options for different pillows at request. I wish I remembered that because the pillows in the rooms were very uncomfortable for me, but I am not complaining because there was a whole menu of alternatives I could have asked for (& I wish that I had!)

There really was only one "bad" thing about our stay here, and it was that I woke up at 04:30 in the middle of the night to the sound of men yelling outside doing loud construction with loud banging & trucks moving around. This lasted about 45 minutes. Even with the windows closed, the sound was very loud through the walls (we were on the 2nd floor). A few other minor things included a dripping shower head that was a bit annoying at night. Also, the entrance to the hotel is slightly elevated from the street and the walk up that hill is a bit precarious especially in the rain (slippery uneven stones). Similarly, the bathroom for the hotel lobby (if you need to go when you've already checked out, for instance) requires going down some stairs without a handle, and it was raining so it felt a little unsafe.

The entrance to hotel looks kind of shabby. Don’t let that disturb you. This hotel is first class in every way. The location is in a pedestrian zone so taxis have to drop you off/pick you up a little down the road. Staff was there to meet us and bring us to hotel.
