Location, bar downstairs, friendly staff, great value

Weekend nights were a little loud as you’re right next to the Main Street with bars and restaurants, nothing the hotel could do about it but just as a heads up.

The shower was great. The room was quiet and it was in a great location

Not enough bed linens available for the foldout bed or towels for 2 people.

Amazing location, cute little bar on the ground floor and good size clean room. We lived on the third floor and it was quiet.

No elevators, but we were helped by the managers to bring our stuff upstairs.

Cheers Porthouse is a real gem right in the middle of Karaköy, one of Istanbul’s coolest and most lively neighborhoods. The hostel is set in a beautiful old building but feels super fresh and modern inside. The rooms are clean, comfy, and have everything you need after a day of exploring the city.What really makes this place special is the staff-they’re genuinely friendly and always happy to help with tips or anything you might need. There’s a relaxed vibe throughout the hostel, with a nice entrance/reception area, making it easy to meet other travelers or just chill out.The location couldn’t be better: you’re surrounded by great cafés, bars, and restaurants (the best of Turkish cuisine), and it’s a short walk to the Galataport, ferry, Galata Tower, and public transport. You are one step away from what Istanbul offers. Whether you’re traveling solo or with friends, Cheers Porthouse is the perfect spot to soak up the best of Istanbul. Highly recommended!

Not much to not like. If you have a car, maybe check your parking lot options as the hotel is in a street that is closed for cars.

Clean and organised. Also, Ali the owner is very friendly and generous.

very dirty place, no elevator, no emergency exit, there is no one in reception, no security, no cleaning room service, broken assets, air-conditioning was not working

Hakan, owner/manager is extremely fluent in English. He is interested in making his guests have fun. This place would be the first stop on a pub crawl! It’s in the heart of downtown close to Galata bridge and all other attractions.

Long stairs, 4 floors, but no need to fret, there’s help lugging your luggage up n down.

The metro is close. There are no advantages, you will be deceived, cheated out of money, zero service, zero cleanliness, you will be ignored. I wish the management to find new workers and pay attention to the mess.

one point only because the metro is nearby. Terrible service. We stayed for 6 days, there was no cleaning, and we were given two towels 40 cm and that’s it. Employees ignore you, respond rudely, or laugh in your face.,and pretend that they don’t understand English. We were asked to pay in cash, charged 5 euros more, promised to give the money back because there was no change, and didn’t give it back We had breakfast paid for for 6 days and were fed only for 2 days,after the scandal . On other days, the manager replied, “I want to sleep and there will be no breakfast.” There are broken mirrors in the room, the air conditioner only turns on when the window is open.There is zero sound insulation, there are often parties in the bar and you don't sleep all night. They promised me a refund for breakfast, but in the end I have been asking for my money for a month, but they are deceiving me.This is the most terrible hotel and vacation, I do not recommend it to anyone. YOU have to beg and plead for your money back.

There was no staff in the rooms to provide towels, soap, or handle cleaning. We couldn't find answers to our questions, and our inquiries to the reception went unanswered. This significantly impacted the quality of service and left us very disappointed with the overall experience.

The only good thing bout this place was it's location.

PLEASE DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE NOR USE THEIR BAR. Definitely the worst place that I have ever been. The place was dirty and the staff was extremely disrespectful and disorganized. Out of 6 days we did not get the breakfast (included) 3 days cuz the staff was drunk and overslept. I expect they were making parties with illegal substances every night on the first floor which made us feel very insecure. The pictures from the booking.com as far from reality as possible. There was a bad Wi-Fi, no desk in the room and for 5people we got 2 towels. I took us 3 days of asking to get additional 3 towels...

Staff is so irresponsible, not even pay there duties , Mr. Enes especially was so rude and ignoring the services, staff sleep at reception couch like drinkers even at day time .

Positives+ Breakfast when prepared by the new manager Hakan+ Great location (close to main transportation hubs (tram, bus, ferry) and sights and shops (Istiklal, Galata Tower, Galataport)+ The family suites overlook an inner court and are quiet if there is no loud musicI stayed with my whole family in a family suite at the same hotel in 2019. I rated it as 10 back then. Fast-forward to 2024, and I didn’t think twice when I saw an offer for a family suite with breakfast included. My biggest mistake was not checking the current reviews—the grade has dropped to 7, and frankly, rightfully so. The hotel has changed management and started operating a bar on the ground floor. On Saturday and Sunday, there was no music; glimpses of the old hotel and why we loved it so much back in 2019 appeared, but they remained only glimpses; as the new manager put it: “A lot has changed since 2019.” I would add: “Sadly for the worse.”

Loud music till 1:15 a.m.- Late breakfast (9:00 am - 10:30 am)- Often unresponsive manager- The doors of the separate rooms in the family suite did not close (the whole mechanism for closing them was missing)- Uncomfortable beds that were squeaking at every move we madeI stayed with my whole family in a family suite at the same hotel in 2019. My biggest mistake was not checking the current reviews—the grade has dropped to 7, and frankly, rightfully so. The hotel has changed management and started operating a bar on the ground floor. This time, we were with my sister—we wanted a family suite again, so each had her own room. Upon arrival on Wednesday, we were told that our family suite would be only available the following day. They could give us a double room overlooking the street for that night. Then, suddenly, our family suite became available.After that, the saga with the towels started. At midnight the same night, we received two big towels - one for each, still damp from the washing machine. As women or presumably anyone with longer hair, we need at least one more smaller tower for the head. After asking for these numerous times, my sister got hers on Friday evening and I got mine on Saturday evening. Forget about a hand towel or one for the feet.At about 11 pm, loud music started to glare from the bar. It lasted till 1:15 am. Mind me, we were on the top floor; I don’t even want to imagine the situation on the lower floors or in the rooms right above the bar. The same repeated on the next two nights, with Friday being the climax - despite the suite door and windows being closed, we could still hear the music, and the walls in our rooms literally vibrated from it.

Awesome location , pack with restaurants and bars, walking distance to attractions, the staff are super friendly and accommodating.

Broken promises! Management untrustworthy!

No breakfast served after first night, although promised, no money given back for breakfast we had at nearby coffeeshop (bill claimed directly to management)!Booked family room, could move in only on last night (3 nights booked)!.

The breakfast was very Rich but too late. The employees were very helpful.

Good location but be aware it is in a busy road and they play music until late night. The staff was friendly and polite but unfortunately this isn’t enough when you pay money for an accommodation - and the fact the price is affordable doesn’t mean you can’t have proper services and facilities.

They play loud music in the bar downstairs until late, which isn’t ideal when you’re on vacation—unless you're there to party almost every night. Even if you're aware of this when booking, the fact that the facilities are poorly maintained and the cleanliness is practically nonexistent is unacceptable. The shower in my room was broken, the rooms weren’t cleaned properly, and there’s a constant smell of smoke in the corridors and stairways. The staff running the hotel seemed like good people, but unfortunately, that’s not enough when you want to run a business, even if you make your guests pay less compared to other hotels.

This hotel's location is awesome! We could walk everywhere, which was a huge plus. The staff were the best part of our trip – they were super friendly and helpful, and they even knew English really well. They helped us with everything, from getting a taxi to the airport to finding cool tours. Considering where it is and how nice the staff were, we thought it was a great deal. We had a blast staying here and would totally recommend it to anyone who wants a comfy place to explore the city.

The biggest problem we had was with paying. We paid for everything before we even got there, but when we arrived, they said they didn't have our payment because their system was broken. We checked our card, and there was nothing on it. So we tried to pay with our card again, but nope, they only took cash. Can you believe it? We had to go searching for an ATM in a completely new city. When we were checking out, another family came in with the same problem. Since they didn't have any cash, they had to lug their bags around trying to find a new hotel. It was really sad.
