Pros +
- Very good location, very clean, professional staff, and excellent breakfast
- The Staff were very helpful and kind specially Sophia.
- I liked the location is very close I love the view and the breakfast in the morning. Nice staff and the owner is very nice I would recommend.
Cons -
- The rooms could've been more spacious and with some sort of noise canceling.
- Nothing to dislike. Just a basic hotel
- The hotel rooms should be more cleaner. There was hair on both the room floor and in the bathroom when I arrived. Should be cleaned more carefully.

A very good choice for staying a few days in Istanbul, perfect location, decent food, cleanliness, and a big bonus is th
All the staff members from from desk to kitchen staffs, all where at there best to help you.Good breakfast in morning.
Nothing to dislike. Just a basic hotel
The staff is super helpful. The terrace is amazing and the location is comfortable to explore the city. Highly recommend
Excellent location, wonderful views from the restaurant and upper rooms. The breakfast is also good. The biggest plus is the staff - Sofia is very helpful and great personality to chat with and also helps with recommendations or requesting a metered taxi that charges correct fares. The hotel is at walking distance from most major attractions in Istanbul, located directly on a food street.

It is really close to the centre , Grand bazaar and some more attractions.Sophia is really nice, she will help yoy with everythingThe terrace has a great view.
I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The staff Sophia and Emir were incredibly nice, welcoming, and always ready to help with a smile. From check-in to check-out, everything felt smooth and professional. The service made me feel at home, and their attention to detail really stood out.I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for comfort, great service, and a friendly atmosphere.
Everything perfect
From reception to the end best welcome ever, special thanks to Sophia for welcoming us and supplying with Istanbul card without payback ,strongly recommend this Hotel
I lived in Grand Balyan Hotel for 3 nights. Location was excellent, just a little steep walk towards Grand Bazaar. Staff especially Madam Sofia was great Guide and Host. Breakfast was also very good. We feel at home
I can't say enough about the staff. They are exceptional people, from the reception to the restaurant! The location of the hotel is awesome, delicious breakfast, fascinating views from the rooftop. Comfortable room and great communication.
I booked this hotel based on Booking.com’s 3-star recommendation, but in reality, it felt more like a 2-star property considering the overall amenities and comfort level. The rooms were extremely small, with barely enough space to move around. The bed was noisy and uncomfortable, and the air conditioning was unreliable — I had to keep resetting the thermostat for it to work. Additionally, the breakfast provided was not continental as advertised. Overall, it was a disappointing stay that did not meet expectations.
Booking.com does not appear to follow a consistent or official scale for assigning hotel star ratings. This has misled us on multiple occasions — both in Istanbul and more recently at Kozan City Hotel in Izmir. The hotels were advertised as 3-star properties, but in reality, their quality, amenities, and comfort levels were closer to 2-star or even 1-star standards. The responsibility lies with Booking.com for presenting inaccurate star ratings, which can mislead travelers who rely on these classifications for making informed choices. I strongly recommend that Booking.com reviews its rating system to ensure it reflects the actual standards of the properties listed.
Central location. Staff attentive. Near to lots of restaurants. Near to Grand Bazaar. Walking distance to all the good stuff
Not much
My favorite part about the property was the fifth floor. Having the opportunity to open up the windows and get the fresh breeze while looking at the blue mosque was one of my favorite parts of the entire.
Only thing grand is the name. Sofia is great, so sweet. The rest of the hotel is very subpar, i wouldn't stay again and I didnt have the energy to change my hotel after the first night of 2 total nights. My room was on the 4th floor, it was small, dirty, bugs in the shower, the bathroom smelled like dirty water, and the bed was set up with only a thin, scratchy blanket so i had to ask for another. I got fooled into thinking there was an actual restaurant here, it's not. Just a rooftop place for eating the miniscule complimentary breakfast. I woke up to cigarette smoke in my room, can hear people from outside the hotel as well as inside the hotel when trying to sleep, and people at breakfast in the morning since they were on the floor right above me. The blessing with this hotel is that they have a decent size elevator. The view at breakfast is okay, can see the water, but the windows are real dirty. This hotel is not well kept.

Accessibility to public transport (Tram / Metro) is excellent and within walking distance.A few minutes walk up the road is the Beyazit tram stop (see picture) that leads to the bustling Grand Bazaar.En route to Beyazit stop you come across restaurants on either side of the road aptly named as the ‘Food Street’.The family room we stayed in was comfortable and the facilities were present as advertised. Hence, it seemed good value for money. The breakfast buffet service is fantastic and offers a satisfying variety for a healthy diet.We enjoyed the surrounding view from the roof terrace overlooking Yenikapi bay as well as some of the iconic buildings of Istanbul which will be something to look forward to when you go to the roof terrace for breakfast.Above and beyond, the staff were exceptional.Sophia, the lady at the front desk in particular together with the others were so welcoming and very helpful. They managed to accommodate my request for a late checkout at short notice after I learned that the departure of my return flight had been delayed. Also arranged the airport transfer through them.Certainly recommend!
The location was fantastic in the old town. The reviews are correct in the fact that the woman who works the night shifts is amazing, she is the best part of the hotel for sure. It was quite cheap and reception being open 24/7 in really useful.
The rooms were small and didn’t have a proper duvet supplied, just a sheet. The breakfast is fine but doesn’t get replenished so get there early if you want it hot/lots of options. The rooms don’t get cleaned every day but that wasn’t too much of an issue for us. The worst part is that the rooms aren’t soundproof and you can hear a lot of noise at night so it can get hard to sleep.
The hotel is in close proximity to all attractions like Grandbasaar, Sophia Haggai /Blue Mosque. It’s also close to the tram, we literally walked to all places. There are authentic restaurants in the area. The chef was incredible as she made a delicious breakfast every morning and Sophia, the manager made sure our stay was awesome. She allowed early check in, recommended places to visit Kadikoy and kept our luggage for us as our journey was continuing to Antalya.
I had a great stay at Grand Baylan Hotel in Istanbul. The staff were incredibly hospitable and welcoming, always ready to help with a smile. My room was clean and comfortable, just what I needed after long days exploring the city. For the price I paid, the quality of service and accommodation exceeded my expectations—definitely the best value I’ve had in a while. Highly recommend!
