The Empress Theodora Hotel

Location is excellent, the breakfast was also nice. The staff were helpful but i was fit enough to carry own bags and knew where I wanted to go.

Nothing- all was really good. Would happily stay again.

Location great...no lifts in hotel..breakfast below average unless you are lover of salads..you have no choice apart from few cereals.beakfast on 3rd floor plenty of stairs to climb... recommended for young and able only...

When cleaners come to do your room they leave windows open when they are shut. When you comeback to your room during the night you get attack by odd flies on daily basis.no life plenty of stairs to climb.

I liked the central location, clise to public transport, good staff. Every day cleaning.

The Hotel is located right behind Aya Sofia. The location is perfect for the tourists and especially for those who are travelling for the first time. There is a Tram station in 3 minutes of walking (named Gulhane), which goes to city centre as well to the famous locations. The breakfast was amazing, with the many options to choose. They place even the cakes, fruits to pick. Everything was fresh each of the morning we stayed. Also, the Sultanahmet is very quiet place to stay in, so we liked that! Definitely choose the hotel if you try to find good spot to rest after exploring the city. Rooms are clean, and the towels were changed every day.

Our room was on the last floor, so sometimes the smoke from the cigarettes have been smelled.

Excellent location - just down the street from Hagia Sofia & Blue Mosque. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of options to choose from. Staff are very kind and accommodating throughout our stay. Mahran was very friendly and helpful in everything we needed in Istanbul.

Standard Room. Quiet, clean, and comfortable. I felt pampered like a princess during my stay! Location was excellent as it was walking distance from Sultanahmet Square. Excellent breakfast with so many options! And healthy too. Excellent staff, very friendly, and they have accommodated my early check-in at 5 AM, because my flight landed at around 4 AM. Hotel shuttle available for an extra fee, but only payable by cash. My room was cleaned everyday, replenished with fresh toiletries and towels. I was also able to leave my luggage to go for a last-minute sightseeing before I was shuttled back to Istanbul airport. Will definitely stay here again when I am back in Istanbul!

Hot water didn't work at night, but it wasn't a deal breaker. No English channels working in my room, but I was out sightseeing all the time anyways and didn't get to watch TV much. Also, this isn't the hotel's fault, but just a tip for tourists: when you get picked up/ dropped off for group tours, make sure they aren't going to Empress Theodora II because there is another hotel branch which my tour driver dropped me off by mistake. Make sure they are going to Empress Theodora by the tram rails. Otherwise 10/10 stay for me!

It’s very short walk to the attractions and restaurants. The breakfast was very good. Rooms were clean and the staff were very helpful.

The staff was really helpful and kind. Our room was cleaned every single day. They refilled the body wash, shampoo, toilet paper, we got clean towels always. Clean bathroom, clean room. The room is not going to be perfect, we had some paint coming off in the corners, but consider that the buildings over there are not new. Compared to the circumstances they try to make the best out of it. They even folded our pijamas that we left on the bed. Small detailes but it made our staying pleasant. The breakfast was nothing fancy, but we always got full and it was a huge help. We didn't have to start our day by searching for a breakfast place and spend a lot of money on it throughout the week we stayed. The rooms are not huge but don't expect that from such an area, but it was more than enough for 2 of us. There is no elevator in the hotel, in case someone needs it consider this fact, but the staff helps you to take your luggage up.All in all, we'll have nice memories from this place :D

The only thing we didn't like is that the whole Sirkeci area is annoyingly touristic. First we thought okay, old town in Istanbul it must be beautiful (it is in a way), but to find the authentic Turkey and Istanbul vibe, you have to go a bit further and search for it. When you find it though, Istanbul is a lovely romantic place where you don't wanna leave from. We found this vibe in (Balat, Karakoy/Galata Tower area, Kadikoy, Kuzguncuk).From Sirkeci these places are easily accessible though. About the Empress Theodor Hotel itself I have nothing bad to say :D

Light went off during the day, ac locked at a specific temp of 19. No complimentary water..Bathroom wash basin was a bit small.

The location of the hotel was excellent. It is right in middle of the historical of the city. Walking distance to Higia Sofia, Blue Mosque, Basillica Cistern, etcThe breakfast could be improved. Offer more selections of warm food, but the beverage selections were excellent. We love the Coffee, tea and juice.

The room was too small to have 2 beds for 3 people.

Vibrant location accessible to everything walking distance to everything no car is needed staff were nice housekeeping kept the room clean and nicely maintained daily

I wish there was a lobby also breakfast was nice and filling a lot of different choices however I wish it was different every day kind of same plat every day

Great staff, clean, excellent location in Sultanahmet district and very close to the main tourist attractions, allowed early check in and good breakfast. Our transfer communicated with the hotel staff and helped us with our luggage to find the hotel by meeting us at the nearby drop off location. Hotel did the same when we were headed back to the airport. Their restaurant food was good and offers no service charge/10% discount if staying at this property. Təşəkkür edirəm!

Nothing about the hotel...just that Istanbul/Turkey is more expensive than we expected.

The pluses location, restaurant, comfy beds, a/c strong, and clean facilities, bathroom clean. close to all transport and attractions. Definately a place to stay if that's your concern. The staff was so nice and helpful though

There's a restaurant, also owed by the hotel next door, at night you can still smell some of the food. Even if you close the windows. We got a room in the back with a window towards the wall. There is no elevator, they will bring up your luggage though.

From the time of our arrival, we had a great time in the hotel. Meheran was kind and accommodating to our needs and explained patiently about attractions in the area. the room was spacious for 2 for Istanbul standards. Very happy with the cleanliness and daily .housekeeping. Breakfast was provided each day in the upstairs terrace with ease for smokers.I was not aware of the hotel location when booking so I was pleasantly surprised we were able to walk only a few minutes to Aya Sofia, Topkapi palace and Gulhane park to enjoy spring tulips everyday. we are also able to walk to Sirkeci and Emininonu and we are not used to walking nor are very active at all. Tram stops merely metres outside the hotel and we had no issues getting to Taksim or Kadikoy on the Asian side very quickly taking the Marmaray near the hotel. good experience and highly recommend for couples.Although please note usually hotels in Istanbul don't have lifts or elevators.

nothing. service was excellent. location was the best. near all attractions and countless food and shopping choices. preferred staying here than near taksim.

Nice cosy rooms, not small or not big. Just enough space for a couple who has planned to mostly go around for the day and use the room just to crash for the night

The staff were not very friendly, just responded to what we asked in a few words. Nothing more or less. We requested for 30 mins late check out considering we checked in late and but was straight away declined our request. Beds were not clean. There were coffee spilled spots on bed spreads. We just stayed for a night, so didn't really bother complaining

Only the location other things was not comfortable at all and the room very small even not for one person enough if we compare with the price can find a good rest rooms with this price and location even if will be more little bit but i can have good opportunity
