Emerald Inn on Takapuna Beach

Fantastic location, and the ground are lovely

Twin share room was tiny! NO AIRCON!!! Access room - bathroom very wet, no where to place clothes.

We stayed here twice and the first time we had a larger room with separate bathroom. This was really comfortable and we enjoyed it.

The second time we stayed, it was so much smaller studio room with a spa bath for the shower recess. This is an impractical bathing solution for elderly and people with disabilities.

Amazing location and what a hidden gem …. Very very comfortable and had everything we needed for an overnight stay

Delighted there was a fan ….it was very insulated so without air con the fan was wonderful

The location is awesome! So close to everything yet tucked away and quiet. Free laundry was a pleasant surprise and the staff was so helpful and friendly!

The bed was a bit soft for our taste and there was a tree branch that was rubbing on the roof during the high winds so a couple nights were a bit noisy.

The communal areas were great it’s so nice to stay somewhere and be able to chat with other guests The staff were amazing , everything was so clean and well maintained - location to beach is exceptional!! James was a wonderful host

Even though the rooms were supplied with portable fans it would be easy to install ceiling fans especially over bed areas . Otherwise everything was brilliant

Proximity to beach and shops

No aircon. Very humid

Lack of air con during extremely hot weather. Rooms had fans to help with air circulation to keep cool.

Great location close to the beach and easy to reach downtown Auckland

Lovely place to stay, close to beach shops and resturants. We arrived late, bit they left good instructions. Nice to have a washing machine and dryer on site. Friendly staff with good knowledge of the area, car parking on site. Would love to return.

Great location. Lovely leafy setting. Very comfy bed and spacious room.

Access via car a bit tricky - long, windy, narrow driveway. Accommodation much better on the inside than the outside.

Amazing location near the beach. Our room had nice jacuzzi and a comfortable bed.

Everything was great except no AC. There was a fan but it was still very hot

I loved the subtropical gardens and pool. The staff were lovely and the room very comfy.

Closeness of the beach, great location

Its an old accommodation, but plenty of space in the room so nothing much that we dont like

Great location handy to shops and restaurants. Very quite clean and well equipped.

Bed was a bit firm for us.

Great location - close to the beach and a lovely cafe with water views nearby. The room was comfortable and nicely done out with everything we needed.

Outdoor area only had one chair.

No breakfast included, but very close to the centre of Takapuna (5 minute walk), with amazing cafes and restaurants.

Wifi dropped out in the studio unit once you sat on the bed.

The cleanliness of the suite was top drawer and everything was in order. For me, the bed was very comfortable and you had everything that you needed. And the proximity to the beach was wonderful.... I didn't swim in the sea, but the beach was lovely and the sea looked amazing. The beach wasn't crowded, which was also nice.Plenty of places to eat and drink In close proximity to the complex.Certainly the place is very nice and clean and all the staff were lovely and very helpful.

In my head, going from the pictures, advertising the hotel, it was a quiet, tranquil location. This wasn't necessarily the case, if you have a suite on the wrong side of the complex, you were right next door to a road which was fairly busy as people were heading to the carpark for the beach.There is a lovely place to eat just a few yards from the emerald inn, I'm assuming it's lovely, as I never went, as it was always rammed with customers, often queuing out the door, so it sounds good, judging by the queue. I was only staying for 3 nights so I couldn't work out if there was a good time to attempt to visit the cafe/restaurant. Beautiful location though.The internet that the emerald inn offers was pretty woeful. It worked, but it was very slow, ( you had to find the sweet spot in your room to get a strong connection, or your video call would stand a chance of ending lol ) certainly compared to everywhere else I stayed. I mentioned this to the very pleasant and helpful guy in the reception when I left and he told me this was being upgraded very soon.

This hotel is in a perfect location: close to beach and the town. It is quiet, clean and very pretty. Staff were really nice too.
