Ocean Inn Motel

Reasonably well located, close to takapuna, close to albany, close to cbd. thats about what there is to like here.

i thought in this day and age, in any price bracket beyond "doc hut" we've managed to get past the whole "shower only has a boiling hot or a freezing cold option, there is no way to set a comfortable medium". the shower is simply unusable with any measure of comfort and, while i appreciate this is a budget hotel, its simply not acceptable. also, the entire room seems predicated on "this is what customers expect, lets try and provide it" without any thought given to whether it actually works. there's a microwave and cutlery, but nowhere to actually eat, or do the dishes. you can use the whb in the bathroom, which again has the classic "will the kettle fit under the tap" sort of game happening. tea and coffee are provided. but a tetrapak of milk, alas no real utensil to cut the tetrapak open, so no way of getting said milk into coffee without trying to use the attached straw. much distress ensues.so in brief. a lot of "customers will expect this" coupled with no actual thought put into "will our solution for this actually work"

Good wi fi, beds ok

Cheap soft do-over did not hide underlying need for full refit. Windows from 70's need replacement , especially ranch slider. Badly marked skirting boards, cracked sink, marked toilet ceiling. Generally poor maintenance

The bed was so comfortable

The channels on television is quite small and they dont have any other apps like youtube or netflix

Check in is easy, Parking on-site, Security- cameras are monitoring movements.Staff are responsive.

Although there were problems with checking in the first night, the weekend staff were very helpful when contacted on Sunday. The manager helped with remuneration when contacted on Monday which was greatly appreciated.

A little bit run down and cold, but clean.

The room was compact, clean and comfortable and had everything we required for our stay.

Our second time staying here. The Location to the event we were attending was great. Beds were comfortable, staff are friendly and accomodating. Would stay again but prefer lower level units.

We were in an upstairs unit and parking for room was a distance only because of the rain and carrying suitcases up in wet weather. Floors slightly buckled in our room but didn’t affect the stay just door didn’t close properly to bathroom.

No kitchen sink.Minimal milk, shampoo, conditioner, and Bodywash.There is no fan kit in the bathroom.

Staff/management can not fault them. They were awesome and understanding. I had an unexpected issue crop up. Weekend staff was so cool and knowledgable and helped me download transport app to get around cheaper. Room and beds were clean. Location: once you got your bearings is quite handy to shops/malls, etcUpstairs unit backs on to native bush with Tui birds is relaxing and peaceful. Awesome shower pressure. Good for temporary stop over. Thank you Ocean Inn.

Just an oddity. Floor in toilet was a weird softness to walk on. Didn't affect function.Only concern if you are a female traveler:* would be locks for windows and doors are easy/basic. if you are safety conscious female traveler in a city and * no safe/lock box to lock valuables inside.

Room was ok. Shower pressure was low.

Would of liked a ground level unit. This wasn't an option when booking
