Great location, walking distance from main attractions and waterfront

Really was confused about layout to get to the kitchen and common area, it's a separate building

The experience was amazing. Helpful staff that even moved my car due to an event taking place and where I had parked my car was not permitted for the day. They made sure I was looked after. Travelling on my own I felt safe and although some of the other guests were a little noisy at night it wasn't a major. Great facilities

Too humid room

Having worked as flight attendant for many years I had visited more than 80 countries around the world (work or vacation, I traveled non stop), and I can say this is one of the nicest hostels I have been to. The garden area is PERFECT. The vintage vibe in shared areas is so cozy. The toilets are super clean (most important for me). The kitchen is so spacious and so clean, the hosts are lovely. Just book this hostel you won't regret it.

The fact that there are no female only rooms. I think it would make a difference.

The room was very warm and it was Hard to get the heat out with only small Window. The fan did help though

Huge kitchen and great facilities with spacious lounge next door was fabulous.

Kitchen located in next building .. is there another quicker way to the kitchen..Steps leading downstairs were unsafe.

I didn't even know there was breakfast available as well; we left early early but really enjoyed the quality of the lodge overall. The treadplates on the steps were really nice, and went well with the overall theme. The location was superb being right beside Ponsonby central, and a short drive to most places in Auckland. The backdrop onto the park was nice too!

The door handle heading out to the back verandah on the first floor came out after closing it behind me. I later realized it was like this so it could be locked at night. Maybe better to just have a key locking door. The rooms were quite hot too.

It overlooked the beautiful historical park and had a great view of the city and spire. The staff were super friendly and helpful.

the Hopetoun street during weekend nights can be very noisy, otherwise everyone in the lodge was very respectful and quiet

A beautiful building in a good location. Great facilities- big kitchen with all utensils you could need, loads of homey lounge areas, great outdoor space. Dorm rooms are all single beds, no bunks. It’s a quiet hostel which seems to attract respectful guests. New bathrooms. Helpful staff.

Location 10/10, staff/reception customer service 10/10, general comfort and vibe 10/10 (loved the style of the lodge).

The property was super clean, easy to access (I was granted late night entry) and the room was lovely. The other guests around were friendly and respectful around the shared areas. The view was just incredible. The area around the property is beautiful and it’s a short distance to Auckland City central. The property also provided towels/facecloths which was a nice touch!

Great place to stay at, lovely backyard, living room area and kitchen. A gem for NZ prices. A bit of a walk. The owner was very nice and accommodating, I was in a mixed dorm and wanted my own room and he was able to accommodate me at night.

The hotel manager explained sights and POIs in the surroundings and marked them in a map, which was very useful The room and bathrooms were spacious and clean Bus station near to the house

It was always clean and tidy and the kitchen space was organised. Staff were friendly and happy to help. Was lovely to have a view of the park and loved the outdoor seating space. During my second stay, I had a room with 4 beds and the mattress was a lot better, it was spacious and more comfortable than my first stay.

The first room I booked slept 3 and was tiny, stuffy and the mattress was so uncomfortable I almost slept on the floor. There was also a lot of outside noise so I had to wear earplugs.

The entire stay was excellent. Spacious room, exceptionally clean facilities, close to everything, beautiful view, comfy beds, extra blankets even though not needed, beautiful historical house that's very well maintained. Easy to see the host really cares about the guests because he was so considerate and welcoming. Highly recommend.

The location backing on to a beautiful park with good restaurants and cafes nearby. Good bus transportation downtown. Friendly staff

Lovely old buildings in a great location. The place was very clean with very good facilities. I really appreciated all the nice areas sit in chill, my favourite being on the balcony overlooking the park.
