    Pros +

    • Location
    • Everyone staying there were travelers so you get to meet some cool people! The staff are young and sweet and also like to travel.
    • I stayed here multiple times across two months and have no regrets. It's located in an excellent location with easy access to the Ginza, Chiyoda and other Tokyo Metro lines. Even if you miss the last train from hanging out too long in popular spots like ebisu, shibuya etc the walk back isn't too bad in my opinion.Staff do outings or events with guests from time to time as well. Awesome place!

    Cons -

    • They could be more flexible with dates because of how many travelers they have staying there. I asked to remove a night from our booking well in advance and the request got denied.
    • Nothing the staff can do about this complaint as it just comes with the territory. But people prepping their luggage at 2am at night ...
    • But it’s very cold on the bottom bed

check-in process was very easy and simple. they provide instructions for those who come in after hours. Overall had a great stay, didnt have a hard time with my luggage since it was a comfortable 5 minute walk from the station. I would recommend to people who like capsule hotels. All the other guests were pleasant to meet, they even hosted a make your own pizza dinner so that was fun to join! Staff are all so kind!

Good organization, clean and comfortable. No shoes beyond the entrance door is a good initiative, but I hope they clean the flip flops thoroughly

Good location near (2 blocks from) a Tokyo metro station. Pretty standard bunk size for a dorm bunk. Everything was clean and well-organized, the host is friendly and helpful, check-in was straightforward, so it was a generally positive experience. Wifi was very fast which is a plus. Dorm-style hotels may not be for everyone but HIVE is a solid choice for those who like it.

Access to luggage was limited due to space. Luggage is stored on a rack aside from the beds, and it gets crowded if occupancy is high. Common area is small so occasionally you may not get a spot.

The bed were the cheapest foam you could find and there was only a thin piece of plywood as isolation between beds. A minor upgrade in both would have gone a long ways.

    Not much

Not a social place, very small...4th floor and no elevator, made my 50 year old ass go on the top bunk even though the bottom ones were available

location was fantastic. The vibe wan’t social, but I was ok with that. I was off touring. Just one female bathroom on the floor, but wasn’t a problem.

Most of the outlets weren’t working. There are a lot of beds in the dorm rooms, and just a curtain separating you from snoring and other noise. The kitchen was tiny, prob why I didn’t see anyone using it.

I had an amazing stay at Akasaka Guesthouse Hive! The place is cozy, clean, and perfectly located in Akasaka, making it super easy to explore Tokyo. What really made my stay special was Akito—the staff member who went above and beyond to make everything comfortable and hassle-free. Friendly, helpful, and full of great local tips, Akito truly made my experience memorable. Highly recommend this guesthouse to anyone visiting Tokyo!

    Nothing everything was amazing TBH

This is the cutest little hostel, I loved it! I stayed here for almost two weeks and was never disappointed. The staff is super friendly, the whole place is very clean, and I never had any issues with the other people staying here. The pod that you sleep in is cozy with a nice little storage box and mirror with shelve to store your things. It has ample lighting, plugs for charging, and the shade covers most of the open area so it feels very private. There are only two showers per floor however I never had to wait. It is down a quite ally and most people kept to themselves so if your looking for a party hostel this might not be the one. However the neighborhood is filled with great restaurants, a shrine, and you're very close to major subways that give you access to all of Tokyo. I am a small female and I never felt unsafe in the neighborhood or at the hostel. They also provide bikes you can rent and free umbrellas. I highly recommend staying here.

The only downside, as most of the other reviews have covered, the washer and dryer were being used by the staff all of the time. The easy fix is a laundry mat around the corner that was inexpensive.

Breakfast, nice host, clean and quiet.

    10iranPosted on: 11-13-2025

The area is super chill and lots of stores and restaurants to eat. Trains station literally a block away.

Sometimes people tend to wanna unpack later night. Other then that all good.

    7RaffgerPosted on: 10-27-2025

Location. Clean bathroom and friendly staff.

The area where guests leave their shoes does not smell good. It has no elevator.

    9GesaKlPosted on: 10-26-2025

Good location close to multiple metro lines, really comfy beds with thick mattresses, great to meet other travelers in social space

Dorm room slightly smells like wet socks

    9JaafarPosted on: 10-24-2025

The location could not be better in Akasaka.Lots of small shops of all sorts arround. The 24h lounge was good.Price is unbeatable. Pretty clean, with a good area to store luggage

No elevator situation was a bit difficult with a suitcase

    4KaleaPosted on: 10-21-2025

    The location was good.

This was the smelliest hostel I’ve ever stayed in. We’ve been staying in hostels for 2 months and this one had the grossest stench in the common spaces and going up the staircase, it completely ruined being there because the air was hard to breath. The common room was also quite tiny and not inviting.

    9LukasPosted on: 10-20-2025

Very nice and helpful staff! Decent amount space around the bed compared to other dormitory hostels.

There are only 2 showers per dormitory so sometimes you need to wait a bit

    5fernandaPosted on: 10-13-2025

The area the hostel was located in was central to the restaurants in the area.

The beds were uncomfortable, and there were 12 bunks in one bed. It was very very overcrowded. There were no towels available upon check in and the place smelled a bit.
